But then it lost itself in it's procedural predictability. Fushi meets new people, new people grow on you, nokkers arrive and kill everyone and now you're supposed to feel sad *yawn*. Well not gonna feel sad after 2 or 3 times

100% agree. The knokkers ruin the anime.

Fushi encounters a series of amazing scenarios that could make for an interesting story, then the plot is torpedoed by a random big monster attack every arc.

It doesn’t help that the action direction is laughably incompetent. Like, I could have done a better job level incompetent.

I don’t understand how you could watch these arcs and think the show is a masterpiece, but if you do, more power to you I guess.

There’s something to be said about the themes the knokkers reinforce. Fushi, and all of us, are formed by experiences involving the people we love. In a way, these people become a part of ourselves.

The knokkers taking Fushi’s forms is representative of him losing those memories and those aspects of himself.

It reinforces those themes, but that isn’t enough to justify destroying the ability of the audience to take the plot seriously.

The show desperately needs a new villian. Maybe if something like the norkers take actual physical forms. And brining everyone back was a mistake, just takes everything that was special from the first season

It is only like that on 1st season. In 2nd season it's not like that, even less will be un 3rd and un 4th season (current arc in the manga) it doesn't feel that it's gonna be absolutely nothing like that

I mean those deaths were necessary for Fushi's character. And besides, humans are neither immortal nor eternal and the anime beats that shit into your head very early on. As he travels, Fushi takes in events, feelings, and thoughts and is developed as a person with each death and location. The intricate growth of Fushi would fall flat if the characters he encountered on his journey were not equally compelling and well-developed. It's possible to enjoy a character even though you know that the character is going to meet impending doom.

i like the drama in the show but personally i really hated the island arc in the second half.And episode 20 was quite emotional.I don't know if i will watch season 2 when it's become so predictable.The anime had potential, the world is interesting and some characters if they weren't killed like that

Also the first episode is one of the best i have seen but i didn't really like the plot development and the arcs went by way too fast

Yes. This series does not need arc encompassing villains, just solid storytelling. It needs good characters, well good and bad, and circumstances that let fushi grow. Not this absolute confused shite.

And fuck off with the nokkers, or knokkers or however you write it
