| Looking through more of your threads and posts, I am starting to get the feeling that you're really arrogant hehe Anyways, I think there have been better first episodes to other series than this, here's a post I made on this thread: Despite the series quickly spiraling into shit, Sword Art Online has one of the best first episodes I have ever seen. The way that the premise is presented is perfect and instantly hooks the viewer and it feels like it's set up to set the tone for the rest of the series. Too bad it was all one big trick. Instead of getting the action-packed, serious and grim story everyone was expecting, they got a poorly written Gary Stu harem show. Which is a shame, honestly. And thinking back, other popular shows also had amazing first episodes, like AoT, Death Note and The Promised Neverland. I'd also like to mention Dr. Stone and Astra: Lost in Space. All of these have one thing in common: Their first episode pretty much perfectly sets up the story and the overall tone for the rest of the series. The way they present their premise is nothing short of brilliant, which is why they became so popular in the first place. While it displays To Your Eternity's premise well, there's not much of a hook at the beginning that makes viewers want to continue watching the series the way that other anime have. Still a really damn good first episode though. |

| TBH, the first episode is probably my least favorite from the show as of yet. It didn't add anything to the story AFAIK, yet was filled with exposition. And not just cramming in new stuff, they repeated a lot of the same thing, just so you could get attached to the character. And that didn't work for me. I've heard it was a great first episode, so maybe I was expecting too much. I do think that the story gets worst after the second arc, but I still prefer the show later on. So, to answer, most first episodes are better IMO. Ex: BBB&B, Mob season 2. Or if you'd prefer first seasons, then, Zombieland saga, and I'd agree on SAO, Death Note and NGNL. |
| Completed over 1000 anime. There are a great number of fantastic 1st episodes. But... I can't. Disregarding all opinions, treating this situation as critically as possible, its impossible... Until further notice, without true non-biased controlled debate, To Your Eternity has THE superior 1st episode in all of currently existing anime. If I was going by complete personal biased emotion, I'd have a few above it. |

Dogs are just so relatable for many people. reminds me of a few anime that send off a deuteragonist in the first 5 or so episodes (Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi springs to mind as ruining itself a mere 3 episodes in) Okay, great, you just killed the tension, a beloved character, and now the entire series seems pointless. The nameless boy was an interesting (if slightly batty) character... so much wasted potential. They could've drawn out the revelation of his families death better, kept the denial going until he had some sort of breakdown. honestly having him replaced with some orb, just reminds me a bit of the surreal anime like inuyashiki and gantz. sigh |

| I always have a bad feeling when the character is so positive on the 1st episode. Not sure which is my favorite first episode between this AOT or re zero. |
