Tbh it’s a toss up on what’s actually happening with the production, at the moment it doesn’t seem like it’s a Goblin Slayer situation (where White Fox had to give the series to someone else)

it takes three years on average to produce an anime from a cold start. YS was announced in June of 2021. This post is in February of 2024.

Based on some measurements I took for Fall 2023, most shows get their first trailer 2-3 seasons in advance of airdate. Based on the fact that YS2 has not had a trailer yet, we can safely assume that the airdate is No Earlier Than Summer of this year. We will know for certain at AnimeJapan in March--if there is no announcement there, we can push it to No Earlier Than Fall.

@Stanleyliam1990 Correct. For the first season of most shows, the production committee will wait until an average of 1.5 years before the airdate before announcing that the anime project is underway, even though the studio will have already been working on it for a year and a half.

If I remember correctly. They announced it so long ago, because the creator of Overlord said he didn't want them making another season unless they make another season for Youjo Senki.

So I took that as it's not a big priority for them so it will take forever to release.
