| Yes, the sound design in the scenes involving physical battles - most notably and egregiously in the bowling alley showdown with the rogue psychic gang in episode two - as well as some of the faster pacing in some instances where some events or sequence of events was kind of glossed over, have by far been the weakest elements of the series in my view. Which still isn't enough to detract from it being one of the stronger series among all current seasonals I'm watching. |

| I'm glad I'm not the only one hearing things. I'm not going crazy after all. It almost sounds like generic stock noises bought off the shelf on a low budget, or done by a noob fresh out of college that was still a student a few months ago. From the credits, there are 2 people on sound effects and one sound director. Only one of the sound effects people has worked on shows like Code Geass, with an extensive list but not many other popular titles or ones with a lot of action. The other is a noob sound effects guy with 3 titles, and the sound director doesn't seem to have much to write home about from what I could see under his projects although he has been in the industry for a while. If I were to place a bet, I'd say they spent most of the budget on the A-list well-known popular voice actors, and found whoever was willing to work on the sound department. |
