In the trailer and in MAL, it's shown that the source, the original work is the webcomic. Which remove some stuff from the novel and changes some charadesigns too. Does that mean that the stuff removed in the webcomic won't ever appear in the anime and that they'll stick to the webcomic charadesigns ? It's normal for an adaptation to remove and change stuffs from the source material but I'm genuinely wondering if it's the road the anime will take.

they're prob have to eventually adapt the novel. Manhwa is barely even 1/3 of the novel currently. So eventually, I assume they're prob overtake the manhwa and have to adapt the novel. Or they'll just adapt the novel from the beginning.
Plus even if the anime just adapts the manhwa, the manhwa is still a masterpiece so yh, doesn't really matter imo which source they adapt.

@GRG3 So you think the adaptation will be long enough to overtake the manhwa ? I hardly see the anime following the whole novel over the years but I guess we never know !
I also think the manhwa is a really good adaptation. I'm a bit sad when I see some scenes or dialogues removed or altered but it they also make good changes. For example I love manhwa's Nirvana charadesigns more than his novel version. I find the manhwa really artistic and unique some times too.

The webcomic is based on the revised version of the novel, they're probably going to use that version as well and change a few minor things. The revised versions had changes done because of heavy criticism against the authors and death threats. The original novel included parts about the history of Japan that Japanese people **apparently** didn't like.

No, I don't, but it must have been about wars lol. I'm at the very beginning of the webnovel so I dont know, but it could've been from WWII, the Korean War, or the Massacre of Nianjing (japanese soldiers brutally attacked and murdered the residents of a town in China). Since ORV uses real-life historic figures, there might be some depiction that was done in a negative light, like Nobunaga or something idk.

I only know very surface level information of these events, but afaik the Japanese aren't being teached these parts of their history. The Japanese government wants their population to "forget" they even happened so that they don't apologize or even acknowledge their part. For example, during WWII, many Korean women and children were kidnapped and used as sex slaves for the Japanese military, some as young as 8 years old. These were called "comfort women".

I forgot to mention that some parts were changed to take out some of the gayness in the webnovel, so the subtext is even more subtle. Beacuse apparently some people didn't like it, so it was part of the reason behind harsh comments and threats against the authors.

@bluebluecat I though so too because when I read the passage when Dokja first met Persephone, before turning into Sangah she turn into a gatherbelt dressed Joon-Hyuk as I recall. And I remember reading more jokes about JoonDok ship with the children too. I'm a little sad not to have witness the Yjh in a gatherbelt in the webcomic lol. I'm honestly a bit surprised because I feel like male gaysubtext is pretty popular worldwide (and ORV is pretty famous for JoonDok after all). Even Blackbox made JoonDok fanarts before becoming the offical ORV illustrator for the novel.

@piroriparopirira Incels are becoming more and more unhinged in Korea. Even a hint of the MC having not 100% straight thoughts was probably a red cloth before a bull
