I'm not a fan of isekai. But I keep on hearing good things about the recent season (season 5, I guess) of this series, so is this series worth catching up?

it's not an Isekai....and it gets better as the story progresses.
if u like character development & fantasy, definitely recommended.

Bell has a skill to improve quick, but he never feels like a cheatskill isekai where the protag can not lose a fight. I say give it a go.

Secondly, did you read the synopsis? Does it interest you?

If yes, then yeah, give it a shot.

No. It's as generic as possible. No different from the typical isekai that comes out every season.

The fact that it's not an isekai doesn't really change anything. The plot tropes are exactly the same.

You're probably hearing good things about season 5 because people who wouldn't like it dropped the anime at season 1.

It's a solid series overall, that does fantasy stuff properly. But MC being goody two shoes who makes every female wet may get annoying at times.

I have been rereading the light novels all year I cannot emphasize enough how great this series is written and the anime adaptation of Danmachi is very satisfying. It’s not perfect but definitely worth getting into if you like fantasy.

Also like other said, this is not a Isekai. This is a fantasy anime! It starts slow but gradually each season it gets better. Trust me!

Season 4 blew my mind away and season 5 right is soo good! It is defintely one of my fav anime out there!!!

The first few seasons are good but nothing amazing.

The last two seasons tho ( new one included ) are pretty good with improved action/character/world development aspects which makes it finally stand out from other fantasies/fantasy isekais.

@Shajath1 It’s kinda hard to say. Based on your anime list, you avoid typical fantasy bs shows like the plague.

In my opinion, it just depends on how much patience you have. Season 1 is kinda mid, and Season 2 was pretty bad. Season 3 is when the show started getting better, and Season 4 was a damn near masterpiece. Haven’t watched Season 5 yet, so can’t attest to the current season.

So if you think you can push through the first 2 seasons, then I would recommend the show.

It's not masterpiece but I enjoyed that, it was pretty good. I could recommended this, especially when you don't look for life changing story. For now, 6.5/10 over all for me

if you can bear a little generic-ness, 1 pointless season, and some amounts of cringe, the buildup till s5 will be worth it. Although you have a lot to cover but I think s1 is pretty good for a starter season. s2 and 3 just live up to its name, "is it wrong to try to piup girls in a dungeon ? " But you will start getting reasonable action and storyline from s4.

@Shajath1 So I think S2 is the weakest from the whole series if you can get past it then you can probably get to the best parts of the series. S1 and S3 I thought were solid, (solid to me could mean decent to you since this is my genre to watch) with S2 being alright to get through. Once you get past the first three seasons is where you may start to like it. The seasons have their set ups that lead into their typical climax where you will get most of the action in the series. The series has gags and is vanilla for the most part in the beginning that starts getting grim and becomes more of the ongoing vibe past S3.

This is where the series leans heavily into it and is where everyone will tell you all about S4 since you can really feel the stakes that the story sets up. Plus how S4 still makes what you watched in the previous seasons still relevant. S5 is currently continuing the trend and looks like S5 is going to be a one of the more liked seasons like S4 currently is, if it continues how it currently is.

season 4 was my favourite so far, imo it’s a bit mid until then but it was worth it to me to watch it all for season 4. I’ll make my decision about season 5 when if ends

Havent rewatched the series to watch season 4 and above but, from what I remember the show is pretty good.
