I have read Kokou no Hito a few times now and i enjoy every second from beginning to end. The introduction to the story was nice and meeting Mori for the first time was honestly one of my favorite moments, it may have been quite simple but i thought it was great.

We also get the introduction to both Oonishi and Miyamoto. Both characters who are important to the early story. Theres also a few other characters but there not that important.

I love the early chapters as we get to see the story blossom and see Mori become interested in mountaineering and some nice rock climbing, now i understand people have there own opinions and not everyone will enjoy this story as much as me but everytime i see people talk about the early story they always say its bad and give it low ratings.

Either way did you enjoy the early story or dislike it? If so what are your thoughts on it.

I really enjoyed the early story, starting off as your typical sports manga, afterwards focusing on escapism, obsession and psychological impact.

Early chapters of the climber laid the foundation for the psychological masterpiece, the introductory chapters and the shift to surreal panels and metaphors depicting escapism is easily a great story

im gonna keep it short, but early chapters to me were fine but I like how instead of it just being a sports manga Mori actually wants to climb mountains not just for fun. throughout the later and even some early chapters you get to see how determined he is and what he'll do to get his dream/goal.

Simply generic, and in my opinion could've done more harm than good for the rest of the story.

Reminder that the author of the first 3 volumes is different from the author who did the rest of the manga. It started out as a manga made by a team of 2: one that did the story and one that did the art. The original author decided to not work on the manga anymore, so the illustrator of the manga took over and became the new author and gave it a different vibe. In a way, it's like when Bob Kane came up with the initial idea of a superhero called "Batman", and that's the only involvement he had with Batman, while Bill Finger did everything else to the point that he's pretty much the true creator of Batman rather than Bob Kane.
