Is there something I'm missing, or what makes this series special?

I'm quite confused. This series has a rating that's practically 8/10, meaning it's literally unmissable, very good, and only something excellent or a masterpiece surpasses it. It also has 95% positive reviews. But I just watched episode 3, and so far it's just average, a series that doesn't stand out in anything. It's mediocre at best, even in comedy, which should be its strength. It's not that funny... What am I missing or overlooking? Does it improve in the future? Because up to episode 3, I'm practically giving up on it since I don't like it at all. It's just average, but just in case, I want to know if it improves in later episodes or if it stays the same?

Alot of people liked it you didn't, it's as simple as that. I am sure there are anime you watched that fit that same criteria for other people.

If you've already watched 3 episodes and didn't like it, then give up, this anime isn't for you. There are reasons why many people like it, but if there was nothing in the story that appealed to you, then no matter how you look at the data, this anime simply wasn't made for your taste. Unlike me, who is a fan, especially of the manga, and is up-to-date on the latest chapter, I love this work, but I won't be able to convince you to feel the same way.

@Yumi_Karoni Your answer is quite logical. If what gives it a high rating is ONLY the comedy itself, it might not be the same for everyone since comedy is very subjective. My doubt was that sometimes the rating isn't related to the series, but to external things, since there are always overrated and underrated ratings for many reasons that have nothing to do with the quality of the anime itself, but rather with things that are completely unrelated, and I wondered if in this case it was something similar.

i have never once seen anyone talk about this series so i doubt its something external, pretty sure people just watched and thought it was fun and thats it, not everything has to have a deeper meaning.

and its not like this is the only random anime with a score that is high for no particular reason, there's like a bunch of them

it was aired on 2020 so it was people's comfort anime at the time. it's still has good rating even today

I think you are missing something about ratings. You said that an 8 means it’s unmissable, but that is hardly the case, all it means is that the people who’ve watched it liked it and we’re talking about a group that most of who’ve seen it probably chose to do so because of an interest in the kind of show it is.
It’s a really cute and charming show, realized very well by a great studio that specializes in exactly these kinds of shows, not every joke lands, sure, but it isn’t really meant to be super hilarious in my opinion, just a chill fluffy time.
Nothing wrong with you not liking it or it not being for you, but you should expect the possibility of many shows that are rated high and are not for you due to genres, preferences and so on.

The character development actually surprised me. The story gets sociopolitical and builds on the initial 'cute girl comedy' format. But the cute silly gags are the main draw.
