I love field trip episodes. :3

The story is developing quite nicely.

Lol at Chie. She always does something funny.

Kaya's grandmother is an interesting character.

So that's Kaya's grandmother. Nice to know more about her family.

A field trip outside the classroom doors was also fun although this wasn't without incident as usual. It was fun watching Chie join this trip. She acted more like a parent than a teacher lol

One of my fave episodes thus far, best part was that rude old man getting exactly what he deserved. Imagine being 70+ and beefing with some damn pre schoolers man get your old bitter ass on somewhere. He had that entire train car he could’ve sat in but wanted to fight with some kids, good riddance. Also, in case you didn’t know, Kisaragi station is a famous urban legend in Japan, you can do an entire deep dive on that place and the 2chan post that inspired it.

Mob’s heart was definitely in the right place, but unfortunately he probably did a little more harm than good today. I’m wondering what that was that took over Kaya tho, was it the same entity that’s with her mom?! Maybe it can exist inside of photos and latch onto others? It seems like the grandmother and this entity have some sort of history so maybe she fought it in the past and it’s getting revenge on her now by latching onto her daughter? Poor thing didn’t even know her daughter had a kid nonetheless how powerful Kaya is. I hope they get to have a sit down convo at some point, but I kinda have a bad feeling the grandma might die..

That guy on the train was pretty mean, though I could understand if he had issues needing to sit down for being a bit grumpy but he was just mean.

I am unfamiliar with this concept of a sort of spirit near people near death. I tried to look into it and cant quite find anything easily and I get the feeling it isnt just made up for this series.

I do wonder what happened to Kaya if there was some spirit in the room tied to the photo or if it's actually she is always possessed.

The Ebisumoris are here!!!! I wonder if they will continue with the field trip next EP, or will they just skip it instead.
I mean, now that we're introduced to Mutsu-san, they might opt to go full on into the Ebisumori stories instead.

Vaguely remember seeing that Kaya smile before on the Mother reveal episode.

I do like the idea of the spirits imitating your loved one and following you when you're near your end. Creepy yet doing their best to comfort you in your final moments.

I can only imagine horrors that man left at the station is about to go through.

Wonder if is the first wife or a second. Either way, any of them would been very understanding.

A magnificent episode and narrative pace, the first part of the famous Kisaragi Station, which has long occupied its place of honor in the top urban legends and horror stories, considering how many times it is mentioned, and in the second part, finally, the beginning of the Kaya family's story arc, which is quite interesting.

Just an average, everyday train ride to the Shadow Realm. Stalker Mob apparently remarried at some point (How does he do it?), and Kaya got possessed by the photo?? There's a lot to unpack here with Grandma and the rest of the family. Next episode!

You should try watching episodes properly next time because he clearly said that his family (well, except for the daughter) was saved thanks to Kaya.
They never divorced.

@Marinate1016 That train story reminded me of more than one Twilight Zone & Night Gallery episode, honestly. Trains & subways and their stations always make for some of the creepiest locations in horror/Dark Fantasy fiction.

Oh crap, this episode was a 10/10, the train part and Kaya all calm telling Chie there was nothing to worry about those ghost, they are just minding their own business and then those I guess shinigami with the elderly that aren't really doing anything bad or wrong, if anything they serve a purpose of helping those just about to move to the other life and most importantly what ever happened with Kaya when she meet with her grandmother, is that like a curse or maybe a deal that is now on the shoulders of Mirai and also Kaya's mom and her sibling.

Definitely not the first time I’ve seen Kisaragi Station in an anime, very cool to see it here, although I don’t feel all that bad for that old asshole lol, I mean he didn’t do anything deserving of death but yeah he was unnecessarily mean for no reason, so yeah I can’t say it hurt my feelings when he died, I had a feeling he probably would anyway when he first appeared because it just seemed likely that they’d make you dislike someone they’re about to do something terrible to lol.

The main bit of this episode tho was when Mob, Chie and Kaya went to meet Kaya’s grandmother, Mutsu Ebisumori, who was apparently a well renowned psychic, makes sense considering Kaya’s own power. But they didn’t meet her before fending off some old people zombies, yeah you read that right lol, to think Kaya popping one of those specters glued to one of the old people would cause something like that, but apparently all they do is make you aware of when you’re gonna die anyway, so it’s not like Kaya was really doing anyone any favors there, but still a pretty cool concept, especially the thing where they wear a mask of a loved one as a form of comfort, looks more unsettling to me lol. But unfortunately the meeting with Mutsu did not go so well, because Kaya was uh… someone else in that moment? Pretty cool and spooky reveal, that was quite the unnerving smile, but it really makes me curious about what’s going on with her, like was there something odd with her birth too like we’re seeing with her unborn sibling? I’m sure all will be answered eventually so I’ll hold off on theorizing much for now, but the story just got even spookier and I’m all for it.

As well as Mieruko-chan and Kotaro Lives Alone, you also get a bit of GeGeGe no Kitaro in this anime. Kaya's grandmother reminds me of the grandmother in I Love Aono-kun So Much I Could Die with one obvious difference. I wonder if they will end-up playing similar roles?

Mob is basically the main protagonist of this anime at this point. He's the only one who understands everything that is going on and is trying to do something proactively.

You know normally I'd feel bad for the background characters who get offed in fiction like this but that old guy was sort of rude so he totally got what was coming to him. Kaya's grandmother didn't have the reaction I was expecting to meeting her, just when I thought we were about to get some answers, more questions arise instead.

OH, that's interesting...

So apparently Kaya's grandma is the one that passed down the esper/psychic powers to Kaya

But it looks like grandma never got the news about Kaya's mom (or baby) being possessed.

Since it looks like grandma and Kaya's mom have a bad relationship, so they don't talk to each other...

.

And it looks like whatever is possessing the baby... with Kaya living in the same house as it...

Kaya is also slowly being possessed... and it looks like whatever is possessing the baby and Kaya... is something strong enough that not even Kaya's grandma could handle.

Since grandma said, to kill her instead, meaning grandma couldn't exorcise it (even tho she showed she could even do AoE powers) and tried to make a deal with it by trading her life for Kaya and Kaya's mom's life.

.

Which makes me think... will Kaya end up becoming some sort of Evil Psychic?

Damn this suddenly got really interesting lol

So... with the small context clues, I'm guessing Kaya's mom was possessed by something, and it passed on to Kaya once she was born? Which allows her to see ghost? Idk, maybe I'm thinking too out there.

@MewsicMagic Technically yes, but it depends on how they want to end this season, and how many chapters they skip during the adaptation, because for now they alternate story chapters with everyday ones, at the moment there was, I think, chapter 15, in any case, and your version is quite good for the end of the first season.

@ShiroAlex Well honestly I think you're actually correct that chapter 45ish would a much better and more impactful ending than 35-36. I just don't find it realistic for the adaption to be able to reach that within 12 episodes. So far they haven't cut that much, I believe just red light green light, and the electrical outlet one is everything they've cut so far. I think 14 episodes could probably end it on chapter 45ish without cutting too much content, but the team were only given 12 episodes of budget to work with and so far they haven't cut nearly enough to hit chapter 45 at this rate. Honestly I think it's for the better that they cut out less from the show, a 2nd season or maybe even a movie will get to chapter 45+ if we even get them that is.

Yep, 12 episodes is always a problem, especially if the story arcs are long, If only the series got at least a mini-season, like in Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wake Naijan, Murimuri!, where 5 episodes were enough to finish the story nicely before the continuation.
