Oh Ariko...I know he's trying but geez.

Aspira took on some risks this episode as well. Thank goodness she managed to reunite with Suigimoto and got out of that place. This experience has been a memorable one for Aspira though.

One of the most well-directed and animated episodes so far. I assume they're saving the resources for the final. Very excited.

My urge to visit Hokkaido just went double, or even triple after I watch Golden Kamuy. I've to see Ariko's short knife in the museum with my own eyes. And of course, I've to try Ainu cuisine too. It's amazing how much a fictional story can impact the real world.

The way that Tsurumi goes about getting the info he wants to hear is impressive and also rather scary. It was also funny in seeing him getting hyper fixated on the skins to the point that nothing else mattered around him.

While it was unfortunate that Asirpa did say the name she didn't want to say, Horkew Oskoni, there's still hope for her, Sugimoto, Hijikata and the others when she compared which skins were real and fake. It's a battle of who can crack the code first and while these last few episodes have been tense and filled with action and characters getting picked off here and there, I still see it escalating more towards the very end.

Considering how much I've enjoyed watching this series, I'm optimistic that the last six episodes will end the series on a high. =)

Thank god Aspira managed to get away even if she had to give away the key to breaking the code.

Tsurumi using Wilk's skin to suffocate Sophia goddamn. Also yeah maybe he knew they were there listening and said somethings for them? Still his goal is something they want right?

Another thrilling buildup episode following one of the best episodes of the franchise last week. Tsurumi got a major hint by forcing Asirpa's hand with revealing about Horkew Oskoni and was really locked in to solving that code, which he seems very capable of doing with what other information he has. He also had to suffocate Sofia with Wilk's skin to make Asirpa give the code was twisted work but on brand from one of my favorite antagonists in all of anime. Asirpa at least did manage to escape and meet up with Sugimoto, Shiraishi and Hijikata's crew and now it's a full on race to solve the code and get to the location of the gold. Proper scavenger hunt mode has activated and the final real stage has been set. Still some subplots to happen along the way like with the sniper duel between Ogata and Vasily (could legit be its own cat/mouse series), but it does feel like the end game is upon us. Really engaging stuff though, episode felt like 5 minutes.

Tsurumi leaking brain fluid while suffocating Sofia with Wilk's face skin is such a bizarre image that I was worried, repulsed and amused all at once.

The ending was really strange, too. It looked like Sugimoto and Kikuta in the past? And "forget about Hanazawa Yuusaku"? This guy?:

Ogata's half-brother that he shot from the back in the middle of a battle? He has a connection to Sugimoto? That was so out of left-field...

@perseii And on brand for the craziness of this Season. We already had a battle with Jack the Ripper. I wouldn't put anything past the writer(s). LOL

@billybub The last chapters were full of action, so this amount will probably balance out in anime episodes, but still a lot of thing ahead of us.
I'm also curious how it will turn out.

Still though, the first 7 eps have adapted 30 chapters, the remaining 6 having to adapt 40 seems a bit weird... Maybe they will do another movie after this season? Or make the final ep very long? Even if there is a ton of action it seems a bit of a stretch especially when this is the finale, can't really cut out much I'd think.

@Superjarne123 If next episode adapt Tokyo Love story fully, then we got around 5 epiodes for like 35 chapters. 7 per episode. I think personally, that last, 13th episode, gonna be just longer to finish whole story.

We’ve spent a long time collecting skins over the course of the series, and it’s finally time to sit down and actually crack the code, it feels surreal but very exciting at the same time, especially since both Hijikata and Tsurumi were given the key (being Wilk’s Ainu name) so all the big players will probably convene at the location of the gold at the same time, assuming they both manage to crack the code. And damn that was a close one for Ariko, it really felt like it was RIP for him, especially because we got that flashback of him and Kikuta, well thankfully he survived with the help of Kikuta, and apparently Ariko finishes that knife at some point in the future, that was a neat detail about the museum in the present, is that true to real life? Would be really cool if so.

And I really liked the moment where Asirpa started to see the effects of the war for the gold, Tsurumi just talked about everyone dying and Asirpa is met with Botaro’s dead body immediately after seeing Ariko get shot, it makes me feel for her but thankfully she’s got Sugimoto to keep her from falling into the depths of despair. And it was pretty interesting hearing Asirpa’s thought process on how to spot the fake skins, I didn’t think about Kadokura exposing the secret like that when he lost the skins before so it’s cool to find out that was important. And man, another mention of Edogai, bro bit it way back in Season 2. For such a short time in the show, he really made an impact with those fake skins, but it’s good they are no longer a problem at long last. Also, there was that short bit where it was revealed that those that were submerged in beer earlier this season smelled heavily of it, so that now puts a bit of uncertainty on what Tsurumi said about his true goal in the church because he may have known Koito and Tsukishima were there, of course lol, now they got me wondering whether or not he played that up, but hey I won’t shy away from a little bit more mystery here near the end.

And the last scene of the episode teased Sugimoto’s past with Kikuta, excited to learn more about that, especially because they dropped the name of Ogata’s half-bro like that, I can’t believe there’s even more to that plot, and I mean that in a good way lol.

🎯 Truth Score : 8.9/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐🌟 (Great)

🇺🇸 The series keeps its momentum with steady quality and controlled tension as the story moves closer to its peak.
Life's too short for mid anime/manga. Don't like it? Drop it.

Fucking see? Koito is doubting Lt. Tsurumi's story cause he suspects that he knew they were listening in! He knew cause they stank of beer! That evil bastard I knew not to believe his story, maybe some of it is true but I have no doubt he still lied somehow.

Tsurumi Theatre is the perfect description for what he did these last few episodes. It was definitely worthy of his chair portrait being the main pic for this season. Luckily, it seems like Asirpa has bounced back and their team has a chance yet. Seems like next episode we are gonna learn more about Sugimoto's history.

Everything this ep was pitch perfect, and with Ogata's escape, who knows where he'll show up next.

Tsurumi going from absolutely intimidating to super goofy in the span of an episode. You love to see it.

Next episode will be about Sugimoto's connection with Kikuta. Looking forward to it.

What a miracle it was for Asirpa to get out of the clutches of that psychopath
