This anime really does explore all type of settings. A hospital this time and we got some horror moments like that woman screaming about her baby.

Nana shouldn't of been so tough on Chie. Felt bad that she was interrogated this episode when she's looking out after Kaya.

Holy fuck that was the best episode of the series by far and genuinely horrifying. Nice mix of flashbacks to Kaya’s past before her mom got hospitalized and then her present situation.

They really went hard with the apparitions today though. That baby and mother situation in the hospital creeped me the hell out. The baby crawling with its umbilical cord dragging behind and bleeding.. yikes. Scary parallel to her mother having pregnancy complications, please tell me they’ll save her 😩

That saku-chan situation at the park was all very scary. The weird faces and all the kids basically losing their minds.. thank goodness one of the teachers stepped in to move the boy off the slide so Saku didn’t hit him.

Finally more Nana!! Auntie is bad af and cool as hell. Some wise words she gave Chie sensei, but of course she’s not gonna stay out of it because now she’s invested lol.

Idk why it just clicked to me when Nana told Kaya not to look at them, but Kaya basically has the shining. In welcome to derry, we see Dick have the same issue. Whenever he looks at the spirits or acknowledges them, they’ll cling to him. But it must be torture for Kaya to go thru every day of her life seeing shit like that, just like it was for Dick once his box got opened.

Ending of the episode was wild. I’m surprised Kaya fell for the spirit at the door, luckily she was able to take it out and show her auntie how OP she is.. but I wonder what Nana was looking for upstairs and what happened to Mobuo?? What’s his old master up to?? I need answers, show finally getting good

This anime knows how to stab my heart and make it suffer. The mom story in the hospital... soulcrashing...

But that's why I love it, and with Nana in the game now I am expecting this show to get even more interesting and shocking.

Was waiting the whole episode for Nana to see Kaya's powers lol. What is Kaya? Is her mom possessing her? Mobuo's master is also getting involved so things will be even more interesting.

That first hospital story is possibly my favourite so far, or atleast in my top 3.

The slide story wasn't good, but I did enjoy the last one as it really reminded of "No, I'm Not a Human".

Type of story that every hospital have.

If even Nana have problem exorcising specters. Make sense warning Chie. Which is used to Kaya strong exorcism.

The story about the hospital mother alternated from creepy to sad to creepy so damn fast.

It's hilarious how "just punch the ghosts" continues to be such a foreign (or apparently high level) concept to Obanana, Mob and anyone else with a passing expertise in the field of spooks.

I mean, even the real Mob shouldn't be let in.

Holy fuck, this episode went hard. I felt something for Childbirth Complications Lady. Her story has also got me anxious for Kaya's mother. A nice touch of reality with the kids being kids on the playground. The warning sign can't stop me because I can't read. Auntie Nana coming after what looks like some family records and a mysterious photo. These hooks just keep coming, I love it!

@FarCritical That's just how "abnormal" Kaya's situation is, even strong exorcists (ex. Ebitsumori Mutsu, the granny) aren't supposed to be THAT strong...
How is Kaya so strong? Now that's a good question that might not even be answered this season....

You know the show isn't fooling around anymore and is serious business when the baby specters show up. The first one was a punch in the nuts, the sliding part wasn't as scary and more of a much necessary PSA to parents and guardians and the final one was genuinely unsettling, the way the specter managed to trick Kaya was done really well. the episode itself started really sad since we got to see how happy and "normal" Kaya and her family were before her sibling came into existence.

@uncleqrow actully based on the pacing while we might wont get the full truth on the ebisumoris we might get some big reveals on the family

Always like the Pedro Páramo "ghost haunted by ghost" trope. It's always an unexpected twist.

Aunt Nana learned that Kaya is a special-grade jujutsu sorcerer lol. Weird Uncle Mob and Chie may be in for some trouble.

@KM_31 Lol, the Jujutsu Kaisen references have some decent material to work with here. Mob would probably be low rank, not sure what Granny or Nana would've been.

It's nice to see Kaya helping ghosts as well. I believe the mother in the hospital has moved to the afterlife after finding her baby. All those specter babies piling on her was really creepy

Something tells me this isn’t the best time for a dead baby joke, but nah really that first part with the girl who lost her baby was really sad, scary at first because of the unsettling imagery of the ghost babies but it got real after the reveal that the girl was also a ghost and that she died during child birth, very upsetting stuff, but at least Kaya helped her out even in death. Then there was the playground bit, this was another one of those that mirrors real life, the kids seemed to be possessed when they decided to break the rules of the slide out of nowhere but it is true kids will act on impulses like that, so it makes me wonder if they truly were possessed or not, but man thankfully one of the teachers was there just in time, otherwise that head to head collision could’ve been bad.

And the last bit of the episode was the part that reminded me of those doppelgänger games where you have to tell who’s an actual person or the equivalent of a skinwalker, I see some others have mentioned some of those games here in this thread. It was a scary situation at first but the way Kaya figured out the Mob at the door wasn’t the real one took some of the edge off lol, but then Kaya fell for the fake Nana so the ghost was let in anyway. However, Kaya is an ultra badass compared to Nana and Mutsu even so the ghost was punched into a puddle on the floor, we always knew Kaya was strong but we didn’t have anyone to compare her to besides Mob until now, so it’s cool find out she’s a cut above the other spiritualists in the family. But I do wonder what it is Nana found out about Kaya, hopefully we find that out sometime soon.

Also, the long cat show tho lol, I love fake shows in anime.

I loved the detail of the siren in the background during the ending of the playground segement, implying that the scene of the girl falling from the slide while her father wasn't paying attention wasn't just a little PSA moment but something that actually happened while everyone was playing happily.

At some point or other, this genre just goes straight to infant death, doesn't it? For whatever reason, that just pops up in its ugly ways. Resident Evil Village, Dark Gathering, and now this. I'm sure there are others. What's the need for it? Having lost a child, it's like it's pandering to people who haven't experienced such death in reality. Is it some person's fantasy to have others experience it again? Is it someone's desire to inflict damage to people already hurt? Is it just utter disinterest in reality and just shock factor? It came out of the blue.

At least the story progressed a little.

@KOTFTW it would've been even more interesting if the specter immediately didn't show itself and acted as Nana for some more time. Then we'll get even more 'No I'm not a human vibes'.

Feeling sad for the lady and her baby. But the first one was creepy as hell.

Still don't know what possessed Kaya when her grandma was freaking out and she was smiling. And don't know if her mom is possessed by her soon to born baby or is she the evil one giving birth to a specter willingly.

Too many questions, excited

This show doesn't hold punches. I thought I was getting into a horror spoof but damn it's actually scaring me. The bit with the dead babies was really fucking dark, along with those creepy demons possessing children to hurt themselves.

I'm still strugling to decide who to trust. There seems to be some kind of weird generational curse in Kaya's family, and Kaya may even have a curse herself (throwback to her creepy smile last episode). Who's the guy Mob's answering to? What does he want with Kaya? Her aunt seems to be force of good but it's hard to say. And how come her father is so blissfully unaware?

The show puts you in the shoes of a child because you're never sure which adults are actually trustworthy or just trying to deceive you. What's worse, many of the monsters reflect actual threats to children: be it accidents on a playground or actual child predators. I think if a child and an adult watched this show, they'd be scared for very different reasons.

Idk why this has only a 7.24 on MAL, it deserves a higher score, at least a 7.5 or higher.
