We must not forget our roots as gamers, we must remember those old games that started all this, and show others the wonders of these retro games.

Retro games are defined as anything (game or system) from before the current era, so up to the N64, PS1 and Saturn

So ask, discuss and recommend

I realized after playing some old school games that they were much harder, you just had to figure it out or rely on pure skill, no walkthoughs, cheats, or anything, you were on your own. Do you think today's games are easier and almost as if they're holding your hand hand through it.

Yeah, you got that right. I also think they are much easier now.
But that´s also why they are so popular today. The producers want to sell as much as possible, and if those games are too hard for casuals, they won´t buy it. So they often tune their games down, that even a newbie can get into it.
I think that´s okay for some games for people to get into video games, but I think we could use some more challenging games. Those became rare.

This is also why they give alot of games the insanely hard difficulties, so players can have a challenge more than just playing it for the fun. Thats also why Achievements or Trophies we're made, so players can work towards achieving them.

I have to admit I do miss some old school games though. But I also love alot of the new games made now.

Does anyone remember traditional adventure, platform, or RPG's ^_^ those we're amazing~

My vote goes for Nintendo. For me, when you say childhood, it was all about it. My first console was SNES, man, Donkey Kong(1, 2 and 3), Power Rangers, TNMT, Mario stuff, all so nostalgic *-*. Also, Pokemon, my first and best yellow version, I loved that game :D.

yeah thats true but if you look at a game like demon souls, its really hard, but it sold so well that the publisher had to print more, and also a game just isn't good without a challenge, it just gets boring
