Anyway, a couple of my friends and I wanted to make a music video for a class project in middle school; one of them played guitar and the other played drums, so I figured I'd play bass. I went to the band director (who already knew me because I played French horn at the time) and, since the school already had a (horrible) bass guitar, he taught me the basics. I joined the middle school "jazz band" and continued to learn how to play, read music, etc. I continued in jazz band in high school and eventually fell in love with jazz, so I learned how to play the upright bass too. That's basically a long story short, and even though I still play both, I primarily play upright bass now. |
