| That was a really good anime, Surprising how good it was since it was made in 1981, plots like this don't come to often. There was so many characters to like and dislike, my favorite though had to be Major Zaltsev, this guy was brilliant general he was used as a escape goat for the federation army and court martial-ed and prison ed and even though he was there best bet to stop the guerrilla force. Zaltsev ended up helping joining the Deloyer Independence guerrillas after he saw their struggles. He ending turning this unorganized guerrilla unit into a fully capable army which could not be stopped and he marched them down to the end destroying everything in their path, until the very end when they had one battle left to take over the spaceport base. Because of internal struggles and betrayal from guerrilla upper management members under handed deals being made with the federation they were paused into not attacking. Zaltsev was again used and sacrificed to take responsibility for the mayhem. He ended up with a 30 year sentence in prison, which he did not regret. A talent being wasted. Zaltsev was a great character with a tragic ending. This anime was a great fun ride, some episodes in the middle were kind of repetitive where they would do similar battles over and over, never boring though. Once Zaltsev was recruited in the liberation independence army, it became like a book that you could not put down especially at the end where you are on the edge of your seat. Also great friendship between Crinn and Rocky's crew, they slowly became experts at guerrilla war fare after being just normal citizens. I thought that Destin killing Lecoque was ironic because Lecoque always said that Destin was the type of person he despised the most, I think that might of been because Destin was similar to him, he would do anything for money and power. It was just Destin was a mess and Lecoque always had his act together. Destin And Carmel came through at the end Destin by killing Lecoque, and Carmel not letting the earth federation kill Fang of the sun unit at the end. They were characters I really disliked, I felt like Rocky had the chance in early episodes to put a bullet through Destin which would have prevented Carmel's betrayal and that would have secured their total victory by true independence. |
