| Finally, an OVA that has all the girls. Akane (obviously), Shampoo, Ukyo and even Kodachi, albeit briefly. Ukyo x Ryoga is a ship that always should've happened. Had a lot of fun in this episode. It's basically back to the random silliness from the TV series compared to the serious nature of the last special. The OP and ED were great as always. |
| Yet another pathetic attempt to separate Rankane. It's never a good idea to pit all of them together into the cave. Pretty boring OVA just like the TV series. Too loud of an episode is not equal to a fun episode, it's plain annoying. |

| I messed up by letting these OVAs sit until the spooky season, but this episode was actually kinda fitting for this time of the year thanks to the haunted cave lol, and I liked this episode quite a bit. First of all, best girl Ukyo was a prominent character for the first time in a while, can’t go wrong there, and I actually really liked the odd combo of her and Ryoga, it was weird at first but seeing them fight together made the potential relationship really grow on me, it’s just a shame it’s most likely just for this episode, but hey it’s fun to explore possibilities like this, it was also funny that Ranma and Akane misunderstood the situation and thought Ryoga and Ukyo were going out lol. And the plot in this one was pretty interesting, like the goal was to make Ranma and Akane get along so they would break up, so this led to characters like Ukyo and Shampoo working together when they typically wouldn’t, and actively push away Ranma which they would also never do, Ryoga couldn’t stick to the assignment of pushing away Akane tho lol. And it’s kinda ironic that despite the ongoing fight between Ranma and Akane throughout episode, the goal was to make them stay together so the cave would break them up, wouldn’t it make more sense to just let them fight? It seems like that was the effect of the cave anyway, everything was set up so couples would fight, besides the very end when the wraiths would physically separate couples if they made it that far. Idk lol, maybe I’m reading too much into a silly Ranma 1/2 episode. And the OP and ED were another very good pair, all of these OVA songs have been great, a shame they’re all just used once. |
