Ohma vs. Sekibayashi (my favorite character in the series) was done extremely well. This episode gave me absolute hopes that the CGI will be as pretty as this throughout. It was incredible.

The "powerup" visual looks pretty sick too, it's like only his outlines are shaking, it gives out a neat little effect. Not only that but they've done a pretty good job on making each hit feel impactful and painful.

As much as I usually detest CGI, this adaptation has not disappointed me so far. The alleyway scene in the very beginning of the first episode was janky but the series quickly got over that.

Yay for tournament arc. And with stakes this high, we will see all kind of crazy people fighting to death.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

So this is... Pretty good? Holy shit. What the fuck.
Didn't really know what to expect since it looked like complete arse in every trailer and promo material (well actually, I did - I expected it to be fucking terrible) but this is actually entertaining and has me rather hooked. And its CGI isn't even that bad either. Or at least, you get used to it quickly and it's good where it matters: the fights. Good proof for me about whether or not an action show like this has great fights is if I find myself wanting to go back and replay hype scenes as soon as they're over. And I'm doing that here! The music is especially great in many of those hype scenes.

This is very silly--don't get me wrong--but in the overly-masculine dumb fun kinda way I think. It's self-aware about it.
Also it's reminding me a lot of Kaiji with its themes. You've got the dreary corporate world with the sociopathic, super powerful (and often very old) gambling business men/"elite class", the sniveling protag in a possibly rags-to-riches story against these men, the super tense all or nothing matches...
I like this. And it's really not as bad as people are saying imo. I'm thinking a lot of the hate is just to do with the initially off-putting 3D art-style (which will inevitably get it a lot of drops) and fans of the manga being disappointed at how it's been adapted (in 3D... Once again by courtesy of Netflix).
Which I guess is all fair to a degree, but it's really not much in the way of proper criticism.

I'm a manga fan and past ep 1 I had absolutely no problem with the CGI. If anything the rushed pace really undersells some of the later scenes.

Chairman Katahara kinda reminds me of Kazutaka Hyoudou of the Kaiji series

I like Sekibayashi, he's a good sport though he really does talk a lot.

I expected Ohma to face a couple more people as strong as Lihito but immediately going for strong people like Sekibayashi makes this more interesting. Looks like there is going to be a tournament full of those kind of monsters to battle

The fight was great and much tougher than the previous ones, I thought Ohma killed the guy but nah, even though he blocked his throat lol, now time for the big death tournament

The wrestler was defo a more interesting opponent than the razor finger tips guy. We go straight into a tournament, hopefully it's worthwhile

So, they completely skipped Kaburagi in this adaptation. That's really sad. The dude is an interesting character and somewhat an important figure after all. Also, he must appear later on in the story. Now I wonder if he will ever be introduced or they just alter the events when he takes part.

Okay.. I enjoyed them changing the outro in episode 2 and kept it here this episode. When he "borrowed" by blowing candles, this got interesting. When the chairman came through things got very interesting.
