DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- thanks for that embed video! i wasn't able to find it myself. too bad nobody's subtitled it. i did find out one thing. "The Ichiban Kuji (Japanese: 一番くじ,Ichiban Kuji) is a lottery that is held by Bandai Spirits. It is held across convenience stores, bookstores, and amusement places across Japan. It is where the person draws a ticket in hopes of getting prizes that can range from plushies to small items like accessories, dependent on how high the rank is." so basically this is a commercial for a 'Natsume's Book of Friends' series of themed lottery prizes. The Fox Child, Nyanko-sensei, and Natsume appear. The Fox Child is collecting flowers as a present for Natsume and ... i always think of her as a girl since she wears 'girly' clothes in her human form even though the fansubs i've read in S1 address her as a boy... ;> but i trust fansubs on personal pronouns about as much as i trust the USPS to deliver anything exactly on time ;> so as best as i can tell The Fox and Sensei are naming the flowers they're collecting. this links into the lottery prizes because several pieces feature these flowers. |

| aww that was really cute ✿♥‿♥✿ What a lovely 'presento' :) For such a short episode there're so many flowers with their meaning explained. I can never remember all that for the life of me :) But it's still fascinating! |

| Ahh, this was adorable! ☺️ Kogitsune tells Nyanko-sensei the meanings of different flowers and assembles a bouquet as a gift for Natsume. How sweet! I found a translation of the dialogue here: (credit to reddit user Sentient545 for translating) https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/m8qi4x/natsumes_book_of_friends_viewing_flowers_with/ Fox: "What a nice smell. Spring is here~!" Fox: "Ow, what's just lying around in a place like this?" Nyanko-sensei: "What do you mean, 'what'? I was having an afternoon nap." Fox: "Ah, you're the one always with Natsume!" Nyanko-sensei: "Hm, oh it's you, is it? What's got you frolicking about?" Fox: "Hehe, I really like the smell of flowers so I was feeling happy." Nyanko-sensei: "Hmph, what's so special about some flowers blooming?" Fox: "My mommy told me, 'every flower has its own meaning'. Look, baby's-breath and blue daisies are for good fortune!" Nyanko-sensei: "Indeed, my nap was quite fortunate. Although, now that I've been woken up I feel only misfortune!" Fox: "Sweet peas bring good memories. Oh, I know! I'll make a bouquet and give it to Natsume!" Nyanko-sensei: "My, my, well don't expect me to help." Fox: "Tulips mean 'compassion'; marguerites mean 'trust'; dandelions mean 'true love'." Nyanko-sensei: "Nyanparari!" Fox: "Bridal-wreaths mean 'friendship'." Nyanko-sensei: "Nyaa-heh~! Nya-hah!" Fox: "Cornflowers mean 'grace'; bellflowers mean 'elegeance'." Nyanko-sensei: "You mean like me, right? Grawr" Fox: "Clovers are for luck." Nyanko-sensei: "Nnn-hohoo." Fox: "Mountain cherries represent nobility." Nyanko-sensei: "Nyon!" Fox: "And freesias express feelings of affection." Fox: "Here, Natsume. It's a present!" Natsume: "Thank you. They smell like spring, don't they?" Fox: "Hehe." Nyanko-sensei: "Stuff like this isn't so bad every once and a while, I suppose." Natsume: "You're not being very honest, Sensei."
