| Currently the most popular genre of games, use this thread to find out any first or third person shooter So ask, discuss, or recommend I'll start, not with a game, but with a thought it seems odd to me that games today don't seem to put much focus on the single player, just multiplayer, what do you think BTW, shooters are not my kind of game, except for some exceptions (mostly third person shooters) i never play them |

| I did say 1st person is better cause it bother less of the screen in my opinion and it just feel better. I had a hard time with resident evil but not at all with Halo or Call of Duty. Lost planet was fine but I personally want to try it in 1st person. It also seems to me that they really are doing a bigger focus on mutiplayer. Most Demos I play is for mutiplayer purposes like Lost Planet 2,Blur, and Left for dead 2(1 too, but it's gone now). For recommendations I recommend the games I just use as examples. Except Blur. |

| Like you, its not my favorite genre but I have exceptions and of course multiplayer is more fun, that is why they start to focus in this mode BTW, I didn't play battle field. Is it as good as call of duty? because I liked the second one :) Thanks for the topics.. |

| Ye, shooter aren´t my fav genre either. I believe it is just normal for the shooter genre to move its focus to online mp, since sp is usually not much longer than 8-10 hours and that´s it. It also leaves them the possibilty to publish downloadable maps like in cod or bad company to get more money out of the players, and it is easier to bring a few new maps than programming completely new levels or campaigns. About good shooter games: Well I really enjoyed MW1 (MW2 Multiplayer sucks in my opinion; spawn too random, gameplay to fast/less controlable; but that´s my opionion), RE5 was also very enjoyable, especially together with friends ;D. Killzone 2 has best graphic on console (but gameplay is nothing special) Gears of War is also a very good shooter (with coop campaign, which is awesome ) Lost Planet 2 also looks very promising. As for Battlefield, I played the demo and didn´t really like the gameplay. BUT I believe it is funny as hell, if u are in an organized team. |

| Woo shooter games xD Yeah I prefer RPG games to shooters, and mainly play shooters with friends online, because its fun to play with your friends online ^_^ *And yeah I couldnt choose the poll ._. I like both TPS and FPS as much as eachother, why isnt there a both option ;_;* I despise COD, hate the series, just dont talk about it to me, I dont like it ¬_¬ I dont hate people for liking COD, I just dont like trash. (very strong hatered against the game) I used to love Halo a long time ago, i'll still go for REACH, but i'm not obsessed anymore. I liked Battlefield, you can get great amusement out of the game, mainly by glitching, or of course running people over in a helicopter 8D I played Gears of War a long time ago as well, I may try the 3rd game, but I dont like it either, much anymore. I'm looking forward to the second Lost Planet though ^_^ and even though its classifed a RPG Mass Effect as well (it is a shooter), same for the Metal Gear games. And I also loved Borderlands (the FPS/RPG). Oh and Alie- yeah okay i'll stop now ¬_¬ Shooters and good, but my preferity is still in the RPG genre, like I said before, I enjoy them to play with others. |
| I prefer FPS and yea, now shooters are made mostly for multiplayer but it's ok for me since I enjoy them mostly this way. As for shooters I'm currently playing: -Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 -Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (but I'm a bit dissapointed becouse of MW2 style grenade launchers, completely messed up spawns like spawning on enemy line of fire and map bugs). Still strategy games and rpg > shooters for me. |
| I'm not voting, no preferences. What I don't like about FPS/TPS is that most of them are too short to be worth the price or are map based(like Battlefield) and my PC can't run most of the actual xD. Well, I've played the once famous Counter Strike, Killing Floor(which is a nice game actually :]), Battlefield, CoD 2 and 3, and some others I can't remember now. |

I think the multiplayer boosts the game for any game. Splinter Cell went in the opposite direction by having no multiplayer(other then co-op) and all story mode(I know its more of action genre). Personally I love shooters theyre just fun and usually more fast paced then other genres. I get kind of bored with most other genres. I play BBC2, RB6V2,GOW,AVP,SR, and Halo3.I have played counter-strike on the cpu too. | I play FPS and like 1 3rd person, but now im losing interest of it since its getting boring and it frustrates me from the BS especially Modern Warfare 2 with its noob friendly commando knifing bullshit. |

| Well it is kinda hard to discuss shooter, since there aren´t really so many titles which stick out, I think. Let´s have for example Deus EX. That was really a shooter, which stuck out of the crowd. In my opinion the most "intelligent" shooter ever made ;) |

| Well dead space 2 was announced today, any one a fan? I only played the demo for the first one, since i can play music during a game i was playing really unfitting music, still scared me though |

I watched my friend play though the 1st game, well most of it anyway. I enjoyed watching it being played. | never played lost planet, well i played the demo for the 2nd one, didnt know what i was supposed to do though. ************************************************************************ after seeing a video of halo reach i thought, how is that you dont die immediately from being shot, but you do from a melee attack |

| I'm really into Lost Planet 2. I didnt understand the Death Match at all o-o but the Campaign Co-op is epic :D I love that part. I just cant wait to drive one of the PTX-140's again (dont know what that is, its basically the best robot in the game :D). Halo never did make sense o-o what I want to know is how you can do two melee attacks in quick succession, I mean thats just unfair, its basically who ever hits first wins =/ But I do Enjoy REACH its pretty fun =3 |

Ur right, Lost Planet coop just rocks x) Just played it yesterday at a friend´s, it was great :D Only things which annoy me: no checkpoints (really on the train level I would have wanted at least 1) and no 4 players offline coop -_- Everything else in the game sucks anyway, so don´t bother understanding it :P |

| I didn't like the Lost Planet 2 demo death match either, not as fun as co-op. I also look forward to Death Space even though it scare the crap outta me. Glad to hear about mutiplayer though. |

I use LOVEFiLM, this rental service can give you unlimited time to rent things so you can keep them for months and its still okay, its also all done by post, so you pick the games you want; via list, and then they send them to you (straight to your door :D) and then when you're done you post them back. For me I have the most expensive deal with them =o this way I get Unlimited Games/DVD's, 3 at a time. o-o I think its about £18 a month. But I dont pay for it =o my mum does. (Go me~) Its much better than paying like £8 for a game for a week, that you may or may not be finished with from a actual rental store. |

Like Shining Force EXA that those critics downed was very enjoyable, I even finished the game twice :D. I did a research over what you said, about online game renting. As expected, LOVEFILM is not available in my country. Tho I did find an alternative here, it's like 1 game per month for something around US$ 20 >.<. But it is an interesting system, specially cause most games nowadays(except for RPGs) take like 7-10hrs to finish. Btw, that's the cheaper deal I found ._. EDIT: Juraya said: Wow, that sure is EPIC.
