That was a really good episode. Poor Rocky being "made" to stay in front of the shrine for a full year, to the extent that his muscles atrophied. Good thing the dad went to get help, and they were able to get Rocky back to normal health. Of course the mom didn't mean for this to happen, but she was definitely projecting her feelings onto Rocky, and thus needed the wake-up call, even if Shinichirou was harsh about it...to the extent of not telling the full truth regarding dog memory. Like Miyu, I did feel that Shinichirou was a bit overly harsh with his words, but as Izumi said, it might've not worked with the mom otherwise.

I laughed when Izumi said that Shinichirou looked super stern because otherwise he'd cry :'D

Loved this ep. It was super emotional for me and I was crying lol.

I really like how realistic this show is, from the story to the characters. Hope we get to see Rocky's progress later on.

I don't like Niwa lying to the owner like that, he clearly implied that Rocky entirely forgot about his owner and didn't miss him at all.

Was the mother voiced by Nana Mizuki? Sure sounded like her.

Well, it was depicted that his motivation and rationale for doing that, as the pet groomer lady explained, is that he prioritized saving the dog's health and quality of life, and maybe even life itself. It was suggested that had he not been as harsh as he was even to the extent of being dishonest in this way, that the woman had the type of mindset and personality which was very stubborn and entrenched, ergo she wouldn't have listened, and consequently the dog's present health and future would continue to be jeopardized.

Some people won't respond to or have resonate with them at all earnest entreaties or elaborate and complicated explanations, however accurate, honest, and true, and so this type of low-level base emotional manipulation has to be resorted to in order to get them to act. It's sad, but true to life.
