They scored the first goal. The opponent is finally ready to take them seriously.

The last chapter sounded like the axe is coming, but this chapter was good. 7.5/10 chapter.

I was not a fan of the start of this chapter. Saying the championship team is old news when your team is a former powerhouse is kind of defeating your own argument. The whole maelstrom thing is not doing it for me either. I like the focus on strategy in this chapter, but it wasn't enough. One goal was enough to get their ace into the game, huh? The coaches being on the sideline together and discussing strategy is weird and out of place. It doesn't feel right and takes away from what should ultimately be one of the best chapters in the series.

yoo, they can make storms now? Besides that, the execution on Nerima was kinda silly. He starts out on the bench which is understandable, he wants to look cool. But it only takes one goal in one chapter to get him to change his mind? Other than that I can’t complain about this chapter. The ball talk we see so far can make this one of the best matches of the manga if they expand on it. Which, with all the exposition that went into this match, it most definitely should be.

I tell you what, Haitani's dense yet astutely brute nature saved this chapter! It'll go into some soccer information that's neat to learn about as someone unfamiliar with the sport, we get some creative art such as that spread with the coach and the whirlwind that I really dig, BUT MAN OH MAN WHEN HAITANI JUST TANKS EVERYONE AND GOES FUCK IT, baffling both his teammates and opponents alike, it's so satisfying to watch. He's such a fun character I REALLY hope this isn't ending anytime soon.

Honestly, I skimmed through this chapter. It was so agressively boring. I'll forget it tomorrow when it gets axed.

A sports manga without interesting characters is destined to doom.

Imagine being the player who is about to be subbed off five minutes into the match because your "ace" decided he finally wants to play lmao

I'd be pissed

Interesting to see there's still some people invested in this. I thought the chapter was horrendous and am regretting picking up this series in the first place all the way back then! But I was hoping a new Jump football/soccer manga was gonna deliver. We all know it's getting axed, I've read some pretty bad or average currently publishing WSJ series before, but I've never found myself rooting for an axe like this. I want it to come sooner rather than later too, they should've been brave and axed it at 17 and let the next two be the last chapters with this game being the final game of the series. At the very least it shouldn't go past 19. I feel like it might be given more grace tho because Jump clearly wants another sport hit and was hoping Embers would fit the bill. I had hopes for the series too. But surely, internally they realise now as a lot of us already do, that Embers isn't the one.

Oh yeah, it was definitely a fun chapter. I hope Inanaki also gets a redemption arc soon
