There's an old saying in spanish that translates into something like "The Three Musketeers is not the same 20 Years After". This is a reference to the original Three Musketeers novel and it's sequel set 20 years later which is simply an inferior rehash of the original.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that Shonan 14 Days is bad. It's not. But it simply didn't have as many laugh out scenes and glorious facepalm moments as GTO did. It's probably just that one has seen it all before and it lacks as much impact the second time around. But it's still a funny little interlude were Eikichi is doing his usual stuff.

In any case, I would have liked to see an epilogue to GTO were he finally get's laid! Preferably to a by then very legal 18 year old Urumi.

I don't understand why more people haven't read this final chapter by now. I guess it's because scanlators have dropped it. It's a shame so many people on MAL only read scanlations and don't support the authors by buying the very easily accessible 10 dollar manga.

It was more or less what I expected. Even the original manga lost its touch near the end. Really, I don't see what else the author could do with the series. He had long worn out Onizuka's heroics and perversion. There was much overlap with the original on situations and resolutions. The new cast didn't see as much development, nor were they nearly as interesting and memorable as the original. My favorite parts of this manga was when Urumi made her entrance. My opinion is GTO needs to find a new favorable direction with the original cast, or be left alone.

Overall though, not bad. It delivered what I expected, a lesser GTO.

Black Diamond was silly.

While it was indeed more of the same and maybe even unnecessary in the first place, I still enjoyed reading this.

The new characters, while not as charming as the cast from the orginal GTO, ended up growing on me. I haven't read the Shonan Gumi prequel, but I suppose those who did really enjoyed seeing old faces, and Shinomi was awesome. It was also nice seeing Uchiyamada team up with Onizuka and even rush to his rescue (RIP Cresta).

I enjoyed this also. What a way to spend those 14 days and although I felt the ending was a bit anticlimactic, the experience to get here was quite entertaining. I read GTO a few months ago so reading this based on Onizuka and his experiences here was refreshing again.

Rating this 8/10. Hoping to see more of GTO stuff in the future!

i think this one is a little bit more "serious" than the GTO, well it is..the story of each characters are great and how onizuka handled it was great. I'll just say that it's a great read.

but ahh Ayame, Shinomi and Urumi are just perfect.

anyway Poor Uchiyamada!

It was ok but it can't reach the legendary status of GTO.

@Umquiorra Is this worth the buy if I'm only interested in Shinomi's whereabouts?

Man these guys were too harsh, I mean yeah it does have a bit of overlap with the original manga, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this part of GTO, and it's unfortunate no one really talks about this manga, but it has its own strength to it.

And so it ends... I personally really liked this manga. GTO is of couse better, but this manga is still fun to read and it was nice seeing Eikichi return to Shonan.
