Hi shu. Dude, the first things that come into my head this morning: thyroid glands and thylakoids. I didn't even remember what the latter was until I just looked it up.
Mornings are hard x.x

Eh, trying to get this job on campus. Things are slowing down in school but should start picking up for finals this semester. I'll be in your place in a couple of weeks :/

Ara, that is.. Weird! Getting consumed by school work? :o Mornings definitely are the hardest ;-;

Just for an office around my campus. You know the typical fax papers, type stuff out, etc. Hopefully I can get it.

So I was planning on studying for my physics test on mondey this weekend, but then 101 degree fever and absurdly swollen tonsils (or whatever in my throat) kinda wrecked that plan... T.T (I mean not that fever is a reason not to study but I just cant think straight with this headache... sorry for whining about my problems, but im sad cause I dont like thissss x.x)
Soo... I'll just do like 20% worse or whatever. kinda sucks but at least it wasnt before finals. That would have been scary

Well kendo is ... strange per-say. I've done kick boxing and tae-kwon do in the past so I know a bit about martial arts. Kendo though is like nothing like the two. Although you could attribute it to the fact that you use a sword and not your fists and feet to fight, it's still very stange.

As in how to describe it, well you know how in shounen fight scenes, you always get the fighters shouting and stuff. Well in kendo, you do exactly that and you shout the part of the body you're hitting at the exact time you hit them (or try to in my case). It's called kiai (which loosely translate to spirit) and can be a bit hard when you're trying to get your stomp (fumikomi), strike and shout in sync. It's a technique called Ki-ken-ta-ichi ( i think that's how you spell it).

I think i may have gone a bit a too technical but kendo to me anyway seems very much like a mind game since you need to predict what your opponent is going to do and attack them before they can. Sounds like something out of a chinese kung-fu movie but that's seriously what I'm getting taught (and failing miserably at it). All in all it's still quite fun though since the exhilaration of plowing away trying to learn something and finally getting somewhat of a grasps of it is amazing.

oh, that's interesting. Karate has the kiai as well, although we don't name anything in particular. It's just a moment of focus as the end of a strike when you tense up and yell. I think the idea is to sort of focus your energy on that moment when you finish a technique and put everything into it. It's also good for training your breath and composure when you practice. Keeps you focused as well.

I've only been learning for three months, about two hours of practice a week. So I must be pretty bad compared to everyone else who has done it for years in here, but I'm hoping to spend ~5 hours a week for the next few years in my club practicing and then maybe when I graduate and get a job I can actually join a dojo and make it a part of my life for the long haul. I really really do enjoy it. Though I do want to look into trying some other martial arts to see if any resonate particularly well with me. I want to take a class in some throw/grab/grapple based martial art. I think they offer Judo here, so I'm looking into that.

I just decided to switch the focus of my major (mathematics) from no specialization to computer applications (tentatively... that's where all the jobs are at and it is cool, so I'm excited!) so I've got a pretty moderately dense schedule lined up next semester with 16 credits (all math/phys/csci) and work... but I think I can fit in two hours of Judo a week ^^ gotta check dat scheduling though

Ooo sounds tough. I've got one more year of university before I graduate so i just plan to continue practicing my kendo until then. Though you do have a point, i too want to learn another martial art in the near future but continue with my Kendo practice. There's so much to learn from it that has some real life application i don't think i'll be stopping anytime soon.

In a practical sense though, kendo isn't really applicable for real life situations (unless you walk around with a 5 ft 7 sword) so i plan to learn akido in a few years. That martial art seems to be a lot about grapling but is a purely defensive martial art as i've heard there isn't a lot of aggresive (attack first) moves to it.

I never had the opportunity to practice a martial art when I was younger, so now it's kinda irrelevant. I was constantly ushered off to play other sports (I was 6'5" at age 14, so yeah.)

I play a mean game of tennis though! Who wants some of that? Haha

I also was short two or three years ago... But then I grew up and I'm still not adapted. Often, I say I'm small while in fact, I'm really medium size.

To answer your question, Arakura, I have a Golden Retriever (though he's more white than gold)... His name's Darwin.

There's a cat in here somewhere. Probably. Oh, and there's a mountain lion, a three legged wolf, and a pack of coyotes wandering around outside somewhere. Do they count?

Also, damn Kyle always trying to steal all my things. I was here being old and tall long before you ever showed up! That's my identity dammit!

wait, who's this? Kyle, help us. An imposter is trying to usurp your identity! (^^)

I love dogs, but recently cats have been somewhat growing on me. They'll never be as attached to me as I want them to be, but they can be pretty cool. I have a tiny fat Jack Russel Terrier at home, but no pets in my apartment.

I'm 6'4 now and being tall is not all good , for example you gain a lot of attention [a lot ] ,then again many people ask for help with many things and once in a while is fine but its almost every day [ in home and outside]
Not that there are no pros though.

I give the guy crap, but I'm only like, 3 weeks older than him lol

P.S. - The wandering pack of coyotes are mine; they like to chill around the train tracks outside of my apartment building and clean up after the train.
