Both are mid tbh

I liked the beginning of season 1 for the revenge plot, but after that was resolved, the story kinda lost it’s main driving point.
And season 2 is basically just a continuation of what we saw at the end of S1.

The plot surrounding that damn turtle was weak and that villain was just shit and the lack of even a little growth between the cardinal hero characters was annoying.

Season 1 is better. I wasn't crazy about the spirit tortoise arc that just came out of nowhere. The second half of the season totally redeemed it. Raphtalia made it worthwhile again. I only wish they hadn't finished the season with the exact same move they used on the spirit tortoise. It was cool once, but I would have preferred to see something new.

Personally, I liked season 1 much more, but I still loved season 2. So I think it’s cool that you liked season 2 more, tbh.

This anime kinda lost its magic after Naofumi fulfilled his revenge against Malty and the king, so Season 1 is always better.

Season 1 made it a less cliche Isekai where MC was brought to despair by the world itself.
Season 2 is a boring friendship is power crap. it walks away from the theme of S1 which made it interesting. Also turtle was trash and the quality was awful.

Season 1 had heart. &, I liked that Naofumi was a lost & flawed hero. The 3 Heroes church was interesting; &, the queen, the real power, showing up & restoring justice was great. I gave it an 8+.\\\Season 2 felt like a high-budget show that lost its way & coasted the 2nd half. The spirit tortoise sucked & the villain was uninteresting. I gave it a soft 6.

the first season was rapid and the story flow was good but the in season 2 the flow is not bad it's just meh like it sorta felt like they added extra just to extend, but yeah some episodes in season 2 was nice

Hummm...For me, the first one is much better than this one. Despite the first season having an inferior adaptation, I believe it was good for bringing innovations in the genre without leaving its genre, as Re Zero constantly does. Now the second, is the profound contempt notable for the show, I don't know if the studio did this because they had several important projects, because they knew that this arc would not be successful as in S1 or they really didn't want to continue...

tbh me too. It's kinda feels like vinland saga when naofumi find motivation after his revenge. The boring part in S1 also feels rewarded after watching season 2.

I know TV shows that have one gimmick that hooked the viewers like a revenge plot. The writers were too incompetent to come up with a better story so they kept dragging the revenge plot on and on and on!
In the end these shows devolved into a pathetic mess where more than half of the original viewers have left while the other half only stayed to find out how the story ends meanwhile love/hating on the show.

I am glad they resolved the revenge plot in S1. Opens up the isekai fantasy world to newer possibilities.
While isekai or fantasy genre anime today are not given a 2nd or 3rd season because the industry has no faith in them, Shield Hero had such a strong hook that it got it's 3rd season announced.
Means they've done something right.

S1 started off strong and then got gradually worse till the end.
S2 started off even worse but then got a bit better again in the second part.
So comparable for me, but still prefer season 1 because of the great first part.
