Pretty fun start. Ruriko has so much personality and energy in her character that she's worthy to watch just for that. Might have to get used to Murata...he's kinda weird.

Ruriko is definitely a helpful person so I won't be surprsied if she goes out to help others more later on. Not much baseball at all yet so I hope to see more of that soon. That ED song is catchy.

Yeah, from the look of things, I don't think this is gonna lean much into the "Team Sports" of things, so I think we might need to get rid of that tag lol. Seriously though, if there's anything that can relax your average Japanese man after a day's of work, it's baseball... and cute girls selling you beers. Truly the holy trifecta. Though, something about this just feels comfy.. not the fact that she's a teasing gyaru ofc, but just the overall feel, don't know how to explain it.

The teasing genre hasn't always been my favorite, but hey, it's not jarring here.. at least, not yet. We're just starting off simple right now, with things like urging your new regular to buy more beer, you know, the usual. And ofc, changing up the hairstyle to fit our little love interest, I mean, regular, yeah... And it just had to be a ponytail eh lol. Well, as our favorite Kyon once said, Ponytails indeed turn me on.

Gotta say though, I like how this isn't just mainly focused on the teasing love side of things, but instead at least from the little side plot with the guards, it seems like it'll just be SoL things happening in the ballpark in general, which is certainly.. interesting and make me even more hooked then I was beforehand. Also, the whole thing with the guard knowing the new guard was so sweet lmao.

Good start! As per usual, you need a little SoL in your life, not matter the season, and if this is the one here, I ain't complaining.

P.S. Pouting and teary eyes Ruriko... yeah, she's a certified waifu of the season (>﹏<)(>﹏<)(>﹏<)(>﹏<)

Fun ED as well, btw

The 2nd of 2 EMT Squared Tuesday shows, featuring mangaka Tatsuro Suga's sports comedy series, this is also another unique work not seen nowadays.

GENIC's OP is good, though the ED is a lot of fun.

Japan LOVES the pastime of baseball, and one of its patrons of salaryman Koutaro Murata visiting a ballpark to watch a baseball match...while being pestered by the beer girl vendor of Ruriko. In fact, more than strangers, it feels like Ruriko's just teasing Murata all the more...as part of her efforts to interact with her clients more. Or is she just slowly getting her romantic aura with him?

Murata is back for the night game ballpark, though Ruriko is back selling another pint of beer to complement his bento box. And when Murata tries to buy another pint from another beer girl, Ruriko comes teasing him all the same. The realization of Murata having his beer mix poured differently, as well as Ruriko having her first regular customer, all is good.

The Chiba MotorSuns ballpark's old veteran security guard of Ryuichi Igarashi being paired with the young'un of Reiji Takimoto not being enthusiastic to work with him, finds a lost kid by the name of Miku that Ruriko needs to get her back to her parents. Takimoto being given a chance to atone for his mistake for making fun of a security guard's job, he too was one lost kid before being assisted by Igarashi back in the day, paired with candy. Even Ruriko tearing up at this chance reunion, everyone is epathetic with one mind, one spirit and one soul.

It's a fun lil' comedy show for a relaxing time.

The show itself is fun, and I love Ruriko—especially how she cheered up Koutarou! It seems she’s not actually an aggressive person but just acts that way to sell more merch. And her expressions? Absolutely lovely.

The ED was super fun and cute—I loved it! 💖

It's a great adaptation, and I think it even elevates the manga. Hopefully, more people will discover this gem.

A little bit of teasing, huh? And showing us directly after that she is only pretending to be confident was pretty sweet.

Ruriko showed quite a lot of different emotions in one episode. She has a really charming personality.

Strong first episode. Even though I don't drink beer, I'd order a softdrink at the price of beer (but there's no softdrink server right?)

Now let me deep dive a little bit behind the rational to cheer someone. Murata has a strange idea that the athelete doesn't need a cheer from salaryman, and I actually think it's interesting. Why should I cheer for someone much richer than me? So I'd prefer to cheer the lower division/league of sports where athlete is about the same or poorer than me, and in upper division/league, I'll only cheer those who push a political agenda that resonate with me (for example, those who wear OneLove)

Only in Japan where you have cute girls sell beer and merch at a professional baseball game and I heard it is very common to have cheerleaders at these events. Koutaro may be going to the ballpark to see a baseball game, but he's definitely coming back to see Ruriko as a regular.

The segment with old man Ryuichi as the security guard was very relatable as I'm currently working Event Security at a venue that host NBA games and concerts. We do have situations were a person or a child goes missing during the event called a signal 55 although its handled very differently than you see in the anime. For example, we only give a basic description of the missing person over the radio because a sexual predator could be listening in on that particular line of communication. Once BASE has the basic information, they will make an all call to all event staff via radio that there is a missing person(signal 55) and give out the basic description of the missing person. Normally the people who are looking for the missing person are at our Guest Service Center and once the two parties are reunited, BASE will make another announcement stating that both parties have been reunited.

This series seems to be less of a sports anime and more of the experience of going to the ballpark whether as a guest or one of the various employees that work there. Perfect timing after the MLB regular season has started a week ago.

Our 2nd EMT Squared show of the day. This and AruMajo back to back is pretty cool. Ended up being a lot better than I expected. Actually quite wholesome, depressed salaryman using baseball games as an escape and a cute beer vendor trying to make a living. Wouldn’t say this is a must watch but it’s actually pretty cute and Ruriko seems adorable.

I thought this was gonna be some goonbait slop, but the MC and Ruriko dynamic is quite enjoyable. Sports outings are meant to be a temporary escape from everything going on in life so I think this is a cool set up. Ruriko probably will end up having some emotional backstory and so it’ll be one of those good old fashioned two broken people helping each other to heal stories. She’s got her first regular customer ❤️

I really liked the flashback scene of the one police officer who was lost as a kid and Mr Igarashi helped him find his parents. He went on to become a cop as a result. It’s crazy how much of an impact little moments like that can have on kids!

Nice first ep.

This one is hitting some great points for me. The first is one I saw someone mentioned already, being that the moments between Murata and Ruriko are reminiscent of Nagatoro and Naoto, and that’s big for me because that’s one of my favorite anime series, and the other thing is that this is reminding me a lot of Gurazeni, which was also a baseball themed SoL, but this one seems to be focused more on the experience of the ballpark itself when Gurazeni was about the players. And the art and animation aren’t great but serviceable for sure, I think it looks nice enough for what the show is.

And of course it goes without saying, Ruriko is very cute, I’m looking forward to seeing her every Tuesday this spring season, and what other wholesome situations arise in the ballpark, the 2nd half of this episode was already a great example of a great bit focused on other characters, really loved the development of that young security guard and his connection with old man Igarashi, little Miku won’t be forgetting that moment, Ruriko also handled it well.

And I really like the OP and ED, haven’t heard GENIC since their ED for the final season of Fruits Basket so I love getting to hear them again for the OP, and the ED didn’t just have a fun and catchy tune, but also very nice dancing visuals, I loved the art style there too, probably gonna be one of the bests of the season and this is just my 2nd spring show to start lol.

Why did I like that last skit most of all? That guy wasn't happy with the way his new job/day was going until they found the lost little girl in the Stadium. Suddenly he recalls he was THAT kid years ago, and the old security guard is the one who found him. Quite touching, actually.

It looks like this series will have mini stories about experiences in a ballpark, and I liked the timing of this with the start of MLB. I thought this first episode was good with an initial focus of a salaryman and a gyaru beer vendor and then focusing on a senior security guard.

I didn't know anything about this show until I saw the news of Ai Fairouz's return from hiatus and saw that she voiced a character in this anime so I gave it a chance. And what can I say, I really liked this first episode haha.

Of course, a big part of it is because of Ruriko. A cute, teasing but shy gyaru voiced by Ai Farouz? I love her already! Her interactions with Murata were great so I'm looking forward to more of that and more of the show in general.

ED is awesome.

Fun start! I really like the behind-the-scenes approach to sports: it's unusual for a sports anime to focus on the beer girls, the security guards, the vendors, and all the other people who work at the stadium. It's an interesting perspective, and I liked the drama the two guards' story had in this episode.

I'm not sure if this will turn into a romantic comedy at some point, but I really like the chemistry between Ruriko and Koutarou. The OP is decent, but I ended up liking the ED better. It definitely exceeded my expectations.

Ruriko as best girl of the season? Well, with Ai Fairouz as the seiyuu, she already has a lot of points going for her!

@Sheol01 The older guy's been there long enough I'd imagine he's familiar with regulars, especially since I don't think Ruriko told him Miku's name, he recognized her by sight.

And given he's been there 30 years, I'd almost bet her parents are around Takimoto's age, maybe slightly younger and he's seen them grow up from his perspective.

Opens up potential subplots, even if I imagine they won't come up much, same with Miku and her parents, how they came to love the game, passing it on to their kid, etc

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

Ballpark de Tsukamaete! is a home run of heartfelt hilarity, I feel it's an anime for those who understand the love and beauty of sports beyond the scoreboard.
An overworked salary man instead of getting hit by Truck bastard, finds his slice of heaven in a baseball stadium. ,
He strikes an unexpected friendship with the lively beer girl Ruriko—equal parts teasing master salesperson and shy baseball lover.
Their interactions are full of cute humor. The connections made from reuniting a lost child with their parents to a gruff new security guard learning life lessons from a beloved veteran adored by pro players. This anime about human connections made in a stadium, celebrating small, meaningful moments amidst the roar of the crowd.
Here’s hoping our protagonist trades his lonely bento box for something much sweeter—a growing companionship with Ruriko

I was going to watch this anyway, because I love Fairouz Ai and I am happy listening to her being happy and having fan acting.
The anime itself is enjoyable.
Generally I am not a big fan of episodic series and this seems to even have three separate stories in each episode.
It reminds me of Giji Harem, which is also made up of short stories. I was sceptical of that too at first, but became one of my favorites of the season.

Well, the Japanese government has long wanted to increase alcohol sales and make the new generation more athletic. So the anime is about baseball, which is very popular in Japan. And people are encouraged to go to the stadiums, watch, drink beer and join the social culture, talk to strangers, not sit at home like hikikomori. This anime is Japanese government propaganda. There's a child who's lost for a reason. And it's also about the fact that it's OK to have children, and you can have fun with them, even at the stadium. Be fruitful and multiply.
Well done. Even interesting at times.
