Yet another CyGames anime project for yet another season, how batshit will this go?

The livestreamer of Miko Kurono, against the backdrop of the news going around that seems infectious, and an appeal for all streamers to join for a chance to win some cold-hard cash, it certainly is quite the recruitment alongside her fellow streamer of Kanna Kagurazaka to a non-NDA beta test feature from a major game company of Megalox under Kei Amemura, assistant director of its game amusement division. And its VR facility of GADUS is just that, with quite the warning from Kei herself.

Under the supervision of host Chekitaku-man, the 3DCGc chibi-game beta test of Super Rumbleland, which reminds me much of Wipeout (but in a game space), both Miko and Kanna, as well as other streamers try their best to make do of the growing situation, even as the game is being debugged all at the same time. And sure, as both girls make it over alongside others like pro gamer Eita, they're distraught to see quite the show waiting them with an alien audience and a commentary crew, withi its overlord being of Mayu Mayusaka, the girl who was struck down in an accident?

Those who manage to survive the game, must now face against evil gods and survive, just like Kami wa Game a.k.a God's Games We Play, all over again.

VTuber Ryushen's OP is OK, it's there alright.

Not sure how I feel for this, but knowing CyGames and whatever they put out, it's going to be yet another Apocalypse Hotel levels of crazy once again.

Also, if this is the first show that Crunchyroll is using AI-generated subs (of which this is quite clear to begin with), this is quite the erroneous error.

UPDATE: Crunchyroll has decided to do the subbing work themselves, with the whole "Breach of Contract" subtitling terms.

Is it another damn Remow licence? Why English subs are some dogshit AI translation?

Which is a pity because show itself looks interesting (Cygames plays with genres as always). And the whole style of 2d anime with 3d chibi action reminded me of an older series Etotama which I really liked.

Crunchyroll NEEDS to verify subtitles before uploading shows instead of just accepting whatever the licensor delivers. Some basic god damn quality control please.

Ok, that started out as more V-tuber fluff & took a turn to the dark in the last 7 or so minutes. I might actually like it, if they don't botch it. I'm a big fan of Dark Fantasy after all. Please don't screw it up.

I like what I understood about this show.
That's a very unique style of animation, especially for anime (at least from what I've seen), and I like how smooth and expressive it is.
My guess is that this will be the selling point of the series: Many different games with a unique art style for each.
So I wouldn't worry about getting tired of that one style.

That's all I'm going to say for now because I can't tell if the story is good or not...

First of all, this anime is gonna need High Stakes Game tag
Second, everybody's already mention about the horrible subtitle
Third, I'm glad this anime has lesbian protagonist
And finally, it's too soon to judge but at least it doesn't seem boring to me

Yeah I’ve given up watching this just from the subtitles alone being so bad. In the first conversation, they just keep contradicting each other to the point I have no idea what the context is anymore.

Wtf is this crap CrunchyRoll…

@Yuki_Niji Shh, you're not supposed to red pill people going under a pseudonym. It was clearly stated in the end credits that the episode was translated by: Translator's name. /s

I guess memesub localization wasn't bad enough so now they're going straight to AI. The future is truly bright.

Really disliked the 3D, those avatars look so ugly. Character design isn't much better either.

Too early to judge, but honeslty, this is not really a good start, and the machine translated subs do not help at all.

Also, for now it seems like regular sci-fi type of horror, not really lovecraftian as the name implies

Frenetic colors and character designs far from what I usually like.
Loud, jarring sounds during all the episode.
MC shouts too much, could compete with Black Clover's Asta.
Not my kind of anime, I gave it a chance just because of the title.
Dropping it.

@LiSu8279 I am, but they're not that similar. Unless I missed a line, I think the players are free to leave if they want? It also reminds me of Squid Games. Another user compared it to Kill La Kill, but I haven't watched that, so I wouldn't know

Ok, I thought the premise was pretty basic, but the part where the game world turns everyone into what looks like Lego figures was funny. Still, it's too early to judge. I need to watch a few more episodes to see if it's really worth it.

Kinda-lika SAO gone VTube style, but actually done right?
The blond girl (Kanna) is the best girl, she is the only sane person on this show.

By the way, what's with the AI generated subs? Many many times those made no sense...so one should rely on the context or on the japanese (when they use a name or a popular expression).

So, they basically mixed Cthulhu with SAO, The Squid Game, Nintendo, Digimon, streamers, and potentially yuri/female superfriendship (this may be pure fanservice/idealization, but these shots did have a very noticeable homoerotic tension)? Considering who created this show, I can already imagine how they could turn this into a game, but for now I want to see more to say something more precise.

Are people review bombing this just because of the terrible subtitles? I'm frustrated by them, too, but that's not the anime's fault. :/

We should absolutely demand that they have an actual competent human being write the subtitles, tho. >:c

The show has the potential to be interesting, but the subtitles ruined the first episode for me. I think it's unfair to attribute them to AI (for the AI), they're so bad they clearly made them with google translate.

I was in disbelief at how ass the Crunchyroll subtitles were, but I really hope people aren't judging the actual show based on that.

So far seems like and your usual death games, with the titular cosmic horror mixed in and a bit of good old shitty "gaming" creepypasta vibes thanks to the virtual games.

I eat all that shit up, tho, so it's right up my alley. Really like the art style, too, and some yuri is always a plus.

Looking forward to the rest. I don't mind if it's very far from a masterpiece, but hopefully they won't screw it up too much.
And for the love of god fix those subtitles. Never been so glad to understand Japanese

Bruh, this translation by Crunchyroll was pure ass, it was too obvious to be machine / AI translation and nobody proof read it, not only Enlish but also on Spanish it sucked. I know we had too many issues with "localizators" getting too cute with their subs but can we please get something in the middle, not going from fanfic / politically imbued tier translation to completely automated garbage with no QA.

The first episode was okay. The story is interesting and the animations are good. But the ChatGPT subtitles in the German version are just not acceptable.

I started watching Necronomico no Cosmic Horror Show with pretty high hopes, especially since the premise seemed like a unique take on cosmic horror with a surreal twist. Unfortunately, my enthusiasm faded pretty quickly after the first episode.

The biggest problem for me is how the story develops. The plot feels like it’s wandering without clear direction, and the charm of the initial setup is quickly lost. Instead of building intrigue or tension, things just get more scattered, making it hard to stay invested in what’s happening or to connect with the characters.

Visually, I also had a tough time. The series uses an extremely bright and saturated color palette, which just feels overwhelming. The character designs are creative, but the sheer intensity of the colors honestly made it uncomfortable for me to keep watching. It’s a style that might work for some, but for me it distracted from any sense of atmosphere or horror.

In short, Necronomico no Cosmic Horror Show didn’t really click with me. The story never found its groove, and the visuals were more blinding than immersive. If you’re sensitive to very bright animation or looking for a more grounded, moody take on cosmic horror, you might want to give this one a pass.
