Those are such drastic measures... but now I see why Grisaia is unique. Just can't help but wonder what the other girls have to offer.

This is the first episode that I actually enjoyed and was genuinely intrigued by. This was definitely a very interesting take on the split personality scenario and I got some serious flashbacks to Kill Bill during the coffin scene. I can definitely tell that the VN is probably a 100 times better but this is still better than nothing. At least now I can honestly say that I'm looking forward to the other arcs especially Amane's if it lives up to the "hype".

One could argue that Amane's arc is the only 'important' one out of all of them. I'm really interested in how they'll handle the adaptation of it, I think it'll be the thing that makes or breaks the adaptation for a lot of people.

Biggest problem with that: Her route totally lives teh most from teh painfully slow pacin' (and dat very long endin' which we wont see either way). It will certainly shock, but thats probably about it. I just hope they wont show it as bad as "random girl keeps randomly suicidin'"-crap this episode. Dont underestimate Sachi btw.^^

Haven't read the VN yet, but to those that have, did they do a good job overall wrapping this arc up or what?
Given the amount of time they had, I thought it felt kinda rushed, but then again, I felt that the main points were revealed to us, so I thought it was nice..
Looking forward to the next arc though.

No. While enough of the main points were revealed, they were revealed in such a way that they lacked the impact that the visual novel had.

^ that.
The episode felt more like a half-assed summary of Michiru's route rather than her actual route.

Sachi and Amane's route will definitely be terrible with this pacing. Especially Amane's, there's no way to do her route even remotely half decent with this pacing.

No not at all. I mean some say it was the best they could do in 2 episodes, but not really. They should have left stuff out (like all the comedy scenes in episode 4) and focused solely on the serious side. Also they should have changed certain elements of the plot to make it fit in the 2 episode rather than half-assing it and trying to include more details from the VN.

Basically it was crap. It's only value is in "omg she tried to commit suicide and omg she got buried alive" but nothing more than that.

It was good enough in itself, but it was kinda like a 'Michiru's Route in 15 Seconds' video. They certainly covered the main points, but that's about it. Very skeletal; which is completely justifiable given the restraints they have.

I was actually satisfied by this episode in comparison to the last. Though I do think they took a good chunk of the route out, they at least delivered the main points well.

I still kind of hope to have Yumiko's route be the last, but the title of the next EP states otherwise. Though, I don't mind if it ends with Angelic Howl either, as long as Makina and Sachi's route aren't at the end.

Yeah, they still keep loosin' focus even with this timeframe. On teh bright side: i(as a tru chiruchiru fanboy) enjoyed teh sachi scene more than every drama scene in this episode, it was at least decently paced comedy.

I still love teh chiruchiru endin' song though, even though or cause its teh same as teh vn <3

Makina is directly after repition Yumiko, its confirmed.

Edit: One thing that bugs me teh most: Y did they even bother to show both suicide scenes. It makes sense in teh vn, but its even without teh reason-issue hillarious in teh anime... They easily could have changed teh story that her friend saves her from her borin' class, then show that crappy friendship in 5 seconds compilation... and then finally show her suicide with chiruchiru readin' teh letter... Still not good, but at least better.

Quite liked the episode, that intriguing the past of Michiru, she climbed enough in my concept, not surpassed Amane, but it's the second best girl

Yuuji really was a good protagonist in this episode, though it seems a little indifferent to the situation of girls, this time he worked hard to help Michiru

Every episode I'm more curious about the story of the characters ..

Sigh even though Sachi had the best ending in the game, they are just going to obliterate it I bet. I need to remind you guys that Michiru has the shortest route in the game, and this came out super rushed. Imagine how bad the rest of the routes will be.

2nd shortest(close to first though). Theres not that much to repition Yumiko, even if her route has more lines on teh counter. Changes nothin' though^^

Micheu route complete i think.. They set this up as a common route then they go with heroine 1,2 than 3 than 4 in the unique route (if that makes sense) its a common way to set up VNs

I thought Michiru's route was like 600 kbs and Yumikos was 700 ish. Maybe I got them backwards.

Regardless now we know Yumiko and Sachi will be one episode each. Therefore I think we can now officially claim "what grisaia anime?"

Also the sequels I would not get your hopes up. They are not a big pay off like people think they might be.

What an amazing episode (i haven't played the VN). I actually cared about a tsundere, so it must have been good. Can't believe Yuuji waited for 3 days, that's one dedicated friend. The burying alive wasn't really what you'd call a "good method" , but i guess it's the best shortcut, otherwise it would've meant years and years of therapy that may or may not work.

I really like Yuuji's unique way of handling things. The fact that he rarely shows emotion is a bonus for me, it shows that he's confident. I've gotta say, i enjoyed Michiru's route. Almost makes me want to play the VN and see what happens next... which i eventually will.

5/5, really good episode. The only thing i didn't understand is why Michiru's friend decided to suicide even after she found a friend? Why did she want to suicide in the first place?

I think I'll just say that this episode (and probably the show) will demonstrate again that any serious adaptation of an entire VN needs longer than a 13 episode single season. I've got the VN ready to start, and I think I'd better play through a couple of routes just to see what this should look like. I know I was supposed to get feels from some of the final scenes, but there just had not been enough building of character or reveals of backstory to get me really invested in Michiru--and I'm a pretty easy guy to get emotionally involved with a story (hell, I just teared up from thinking about how Clannad AS did the job and I watched that three years ago...).

Yeah, Clannad AS main arc would have worked in mere 2 episodes too, but it would just feel bad. Its teh same here, nobody expects a perfect VN adaption, but dont show useless drama, when ya even cant provide any reason for that or develop characters properly without a mere 5 second friendship compilation clip. It still bugs me big times that they showed chriuchiru's friend dat way and only for shock value. Its not just missin' details, but messin' up with whole story dat way. Even in a mere single episode they could at least rewritten her part to make sense as a stand alone story.

best storyline so far, though the pacing from last episode has its impact to this episode...

Animation could have done better

and I am a little disappointed with some part of the voicing:
- that bed scene, since there's no way they would include 18+ scene, at least they could have make that more dramatic (Yuuji should have shouted, break a bit of his usual cool demeanor)
- that scene when Michiru finally dug herself out and found out that Yuuji's been waiting for him 3-days straight, I just can't feel Michiru's happiness from her voice (her expression was the one that told me she was happy)

still, in overall it is still a good episode...
is waiting for Yumiko's next

Wait, is this show for real? I thought that weird cat blood puking scene was gonna be the best piece of unintentionally funny media in this show, but then literally the entirety of this episode happened. As soon as he started fucking burying her alive, I started laughing. Get your girl to fall for you by leaving her 6 feet under! Worked for the guy in the A Little Piece Of Heaven MV, right?

Seriously though, there was that weird close up of her pissing herself and then a fucking pink ghost of blood puke kitty flies past like a lump of cotton candy doing cheery meows. That was funny as shit. And then he digs her up like "wow, only took you 3 days!", I thought I was gonna piss myself too.

On another note, Michiru looks really horrible with black hair. Thank you hair bleach.

Yuuji was right. It's like B-rated plot. I have the VN but I think it's better if I finish this first so I won't have to constantly compare the two.

Hahahahahahahaha, holy fucking shit... this is the most hilarious thing in the whole episode, I freaking died. Fucking lol..

Anyways, the rushing is well done overall, I'm hearing Yumiko and Sachi will get only 1 episode each and Makina will get some but the focus will be on Amane's route, which is the cake of this adaptation. I'm enjoying this a lot, gives me brief emotions from the VN etc, what I await anyways is Meikyuu and Rakuen, which will obviously won't be rushed due to the fact that they're short VNs unlike the colossal length of Kajitsu. Not bad anyways, I really expect Amane's route to be less rushed, I'm enjoying everything they throw at me despite in being only a skeleton of Kajitsu like everyone says, and this is by no means a shit anime, just a summary adaptation of Kajitsu which is also okay considering it's only 13 episodes. Bring on the next routes!
