Other than that it's down to personal taste, to me personally it's an amazing anime and I can't wait for s2. A lot of people have already mentioned almost everything it does terrible, art, animation, music, cheesy characters, pacing, plot, and such. Fans tend to blame people "they don't understand this genre". Yeah no sh*t, just because it's a thing, most people aren't going to praise it or like it. When was the last time a snuff film got an award from any respectable guild of critics? Edegelord anime is quite the same, it's very niche for a very specific audience that loves this kind of immature material. |

A huge part of the people trashing this are manga readers who aren't satisfied with the adaptation. That's a thing for about every manga to anime adaptation that isn't done by MAPPA, Ufotable or KyoAni lol. I didn't have any problems with the art, the animation or the pacing. Personally, no other show this season had me hyped for the whole week as much as this has, although it wasn't even my favorite. "The genre isn't for anyone" can't be used as an excuse for everything, but honestly since most of the "terrible" things regarding plot or characters are things that are at the very core of any show of this type, I can't really blame any fan using that excuse. That kind of comment is pretty much like watching an ecchi anime then complaining it's terrible cause "it objectifies women". Then again, I'm jealous of you for having such objective criteria discerning what's immature and what's not. |

| I personally enjoyed this series. It's a bit cringe here and there but overall I'd say it was a good watch. I will definitely watch its second season if it comes out. |

You can also tell it's at least trying to say something about society and the inherent inequality of opportunity present in it, while this show is – so far – seemingly about nothing and is an edgefest for the sake of being and edgefest. CotE also does a better job of laying the breadcrumbs to show along the way how Ayanokoji is able to overcome a situation. Liking one show doesn't mean you have to like the worst version of it as well. |

I liked em both, although I enjoyed this one way more. I have to disagree about CotE characters being better than Tomodachi's tho, since honestly neither show gave much space to develop character other than their MCs and one/two supporting characters. The "are people really equal" thing is also so just thrown in there that I really prefer the theme of questioning friendship in here, since at least the show revolves around it. |

I think it's useful at times like this to look away from those few loud voices droning on and on about what the show "does terrible" and consider the general audience reaction. For a "niche" show it sure got a pretty large audience amongst MAL members (enough to get it a top ten slot for the season) It also scored quite highly for a show of this type and breaking the scoring down there are less than 5,000 votes at 5 or below and over 14,000 at 8 personally I think the show delivered just what it set out to do and I'd be happy to watch another season. |

| I liked this show enough to give it a 7/10. It would be easy to fixate on it's shortcomings. The ones which prevented it from getting a higher score. But what would be the point. |
