Season 1: キャンプってなに
Season 2: キャンプに行こう
Movie: キャンプになりました

After binging first two series and minis, I was worried two consecutive hours of camping might be a lot, and I was initially planning to split my viewing in halves or thirds even.

But in the end, I completely forgot about that and just watched the entire movie. It's a solid 9/10, within the (sub)genre, but you must be able to enjoy it. If not, you might end up getting boared to death, so keep that in mind. A fitting punishment for not appreciating such a masterpiece, if you ask me.

I really enjoyed the new activities we went through, as well as the new scope and context. The first series was a tutorial, the second was visitor POV mode, and with the movie we have finally reached the Open Yuru Camp Deluxe level, where we can do all the fancy clicking on plots of land, layout making, dropping people with lawnmowers onto overgrown grass, building structures on allotted grid squares, and bribing the government.

Just press Play and sit back... relax... sink into your chair... put down roots... grow into a healthy tree... there's no rush...

I got really into the archaeology part of the film, so I found the vase, that was used as a reference in one of the scenes:
  • The screenshot is around 01:40:30 in the movie.
  • Source for the vase photo: Jean-Pierre Dalbéra
  • Found it at Wikimedia Commons
  • Description of the vase:
Deep vase. Pottery with corded patterns. Middle Jomon period. 3000-2000 B.C.

Archaeological excavation of Naka, Sugao, Akiruno-shi, Tokyo

    Gift of Mr. Shiono Hanjure

The Jomon culture is that of the first hunter-gatherer peoples of Japan, it lasted from 10,500 to 300 B.C. and began at the end of the last ice age.

Woah, this movie was incredible! I really love how, despite the girls getting older and having more on their plates, they still make time for each other and their outdoor activities. The campsite was the perfect way to bring them all together again, working on something they’re all so passionate about. Everything was just wonderful as always!

A great movie for a great franchise. I really hope YC will not end soon even if it means repeating itself.
By the way, did anyone managed to calculate the year difference between S2 and the movie inside YC universe? I did some assumptions in the previous forum post (https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=2026763), but no one seems to be interested in it, so I decided to give it a try in this thread too.
@Gigas001 this may not be as accurate but we can use the consumer products to try doing an estimation of the years

S1 E1 - when Rin lends nadeshiko her phone, seems to be an iPhone 6, so we can estimate around 2014-2016 assuming the time people usually keep a smartphone

Movie - Aoi drives a facelift Nissan March/micra 2014-2022, nadeshiko drives a fourth gen Jimny 2019-still in production and Ena a facelift Fiat 500 2020-still in production. Considering that all of them bought the car used with around 5 or so years, it may take place around 2025 or maybe earlier since Aki's phone looks like the generic early 2020's phone, so maybe 2022-2024

Considering this, maybe around 8 to 10 years after season 1, so they may be fresh out of college

As much as I've enjoyed the Yuru Camp series, I found this to be a little boring, at least for the first half. I watch the series for the friendship, the views, and the food. This movie focused more on their working lives as adults and it wasn't until an hour into the movie that we got any actual camping. Most of the movie is about the women dealing with work and adult responsibilities while creating camping grounds. It was nice seeing them as adults and it was still good overall but not exactly fun.
