| Frieren is changing focus this episode with this new multi episode threat, but it's still excelling with its character writing. Lugner looking around that room to find something to manipulate Graf with gave me chills. No one likes to be manipulated, and a whole species of manipulators is terrifying! |

| Being able to communicated doesn't mean ability to understand each other. Such a nice change from what we usually get in such stories. I really appreciate this story not going with the simplistic approach that every being's mind works same as human's. |

In seriousness, one of the fascinating points of the manga was their cutthroat depiction of demons. These guys are not human or even human-like.
Also one of the demons reminds me of Johan Liebert from Monster.

| I love the way they have depicted demons in this anime. They most likely don't understand the concept of camaraderie but understand how to use it for survival and deception. @erikkamirs They look so similar that it makes me wonder if his design was at least partially inspired by Johan. |

| It's quite refreshing seeing a story where the talk no justu bullshit it's just that for a race that tries to lure in preys. Makes you wonder how powerful words can be for those who give them value. Plus, Fern reacting with a poker face to pretty much everything is quite amusing. |

| Considering this seems to be 28 episodes, I kind of want to know how many volumes of the manga it will cover. I have only read the 8 physicals which has come out. Don't wanna spoil myself via the anime if it covers more than that. |

| I like their description of demons in this world. Creatures that are able to speak to humans but only do so in order to trick us. They are solitary creatures with no need for family. They will only work together if it means a end to a goal. Glad they didn't pull any but they might be good bs. Or Frieren is racist bs. Nah at the end of the episode its confirmed they're evil and they won't change. Also Frieren's greatest strength is literally her patience. I would've busted out of there asap, but with Frieren's wisdom she knew to stay put because she knew eventually what was going to happen. |

| This is actually one of the creepier depictions of demons that they basically are just really manipulative and not pointlessly evil just completely self serving to a ruthless degree when necessary and they dont understand humans so they make all sorts of mistakes and there isnt a clear indicator they are intentionally malicious against humans if the humans arent seen as a threat to them. It is just their nature. |

| Great episode. Thank the heavens for a story that doesn't try to get me to sympathize with the antagonist, but allows me to fully enjoy the clash between good and evil with no bullshit woe is me flashback's. There's a place for that too, but not here. Love the last line. Look forward to seein their smug smiles disappear. |

| The start of my favorite early arc from this series. It heavily hints the upcoming confrontation between Frieren and Aura. If Game of Thrones had their battle of bastards, this show will have their own battle of lolis. |

| I think the demons are instinctively evil creatures from the human perspective, that's for sure. But from an 'objective' lens, their instincts are probably closer to neutral than to pure evil because it seems like they're trying to become the top of the food chain. When Frieren sees demons are wild beasts, that's exactly what they might be. They are monsters or dire animals who happen to be able to use human speech among other sentient attributes. I don't know how similar they actually are to humans, but when I think about the demon 'girl' Himmel faced, I think its actions were certainly evil but it's will to survive is 'neutral' even though its actions on how to survive end up 99% (or 100%) selfish or evil. Perhaps it would be possible to create a (somewhat) 'truly tolerant' relationship between human and demons, but for that to happen, it would take a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to achieve that. Which is frankly and practically unfruitful, unnecessary, or too difficult nearing impossibility. Humans (or people in general?) are reasonably too selfish in that respect, they usually won't waste their collective lifetime in perusing a far future where mutual relations with a 'beast-like' group of monsters might happen. |
