The animation in this was crazy. It really boasted the simple story to a whole new level. I can’t wait to see more. I 🩷 Subaru. |
| Wasn’t as into this one as everyone else, just got a bit too sappy for my liking, but don’t get me wrong, I still liked the episode, Subaru development was nice and I’m glad she and Kaoruko worked things out nicely, and by extension we got confirmation that Kaoruko does indeed love Rintaro, not like it wasn’t obvious enough lol, but saying it out loud is a big step. And the last moments between Rintaro and Subaru were really good as well, with the two of them being people that greatly treasure Kaoruko, there’s no way they wouldn’t get along eventually, that final line about becoming friends was a very heartwarming to place to end on. |
| What a beautiful episode. Kaoruko’s little pout was absolutely adorable. Subaru was honest with Kaoruko, telling her she had tried to distance her from Rintarou. But Kaoruko is such a wonderful friend—she’ll always be there for Subaru, no matter what, and she accepts her just as she is. She knows Subaru will slowly learn to love herself. Their friendship is so pure—it truly feels like one that will last forever. My opinion of Subaru has completely changed. And speaking of friendship, one is starting to form between Subaru and Rintarou too. Plus, Subaru might be able to help both of them now that Kaoruko confessed she’s in love with Rintarou. I literally jumped for joy when I heard that! |

| beautiful episode but, i don't know why it doesn't hit me man, the dialogue for is just SOOO over exaggerated, personally the director failed to win my heart, i like Subaru too but this is an okay episode for me. BEAUTIFUL EPISODE tho. i guess it just not for me huh. |

| I loved this episode! It's all about Subaru. She told Kaoruko what happened with Rintaro, and it was pretty much a big therapy session for Subaru. Kaoruko told her that she loves her. But she also told her that she loves Rintaro. The first half had me smiling so ridiculously much. Next day, Subaru met with Rintaro so he could ask her how to see Kaoruko so she wouldn't have any worries. She told him that Kaoruko knows all about the conversation they had, and has no problems with them seeing each other. The kid they saw in the cafe was also there, and thought they're very good friends. Subaru surprised Rintaro by ask if they could be friends someday. Wow. What an incredible episode. And now, I love Subaru as a character. I'd like to add that the character designs are beautifully done. What an amazing show. |

| Best so far of this season. Just the scene with Waguri and Hoshino was done so well, with all the great dialogues this episode and amazing acting. Really touching and memorable. |

| BEST EPISODE OF THIS ENTIRE SUMMER!!! 🙌 This episode was so beautiful!!!! Both visually and emotionally!!! 10/10!!!! 😭 Subaru has grown so much as a person in this episode, she has easily become one of my favourite characters this season!!!! I too hope she finds it in herself to love herself one day! She deserves to be happy as well 😊 Her friendship with Kaoruko really is something special, they are lucky to have each other! Both of them care for one another so much, it's truly heartwarming!! Honestly it even made me tear up a little 🥹 With this episode I'm officially changing my rating of this anime from 9/10 to 10/10! I hope it continues to stay on this level!! 🙏 (Also yaaay Kaoruko spilled the beans on how she feels about Rintaro! 🥰) |

| Cute episode. A lot happened. Pretty solid drama, but outcome is amazing. In your average other anime, this episode would've started a HUGE drama caused by misunderstanding/miscommunication. Here, it was resolved in 1 episode and I'm thankful for it. Yeah, I think I'm loving the show more and more. Didn't impress me with episode 1, and there are some corny moments still, but loving the characters. |
| Saw this at the start of the season, and I said to myself to give it a try, so glad I did it. This is indeed a good anime, I'm so glad that I started it. |

| I don't know if I like Kaoruko's reaction. Not gonna lie, Subaru was acting like a bad person toward her; she was selfish. That whole talk about wanting her to succeed is very bad behavior toward another human being, as if she were an object she wanted to keep all to herself. The reaction was basically, "It's okay, I understand," and "I'm sorry"? What? Shit is really upside down. I mean, it would be good for her to be understanding, but the way the series is written, I'm afraid Kaoruko is going to end up as the all-understanding, submissive character. Please prove me wrong, because I'd appreciate what I've seen so far. |
| I don't enjoy saying it, really I don't, but for me this was probably the weakest episode so far. It focused entirely on the Subaru character's inner demons and felt at best boring and worst eyeroll-worthy levels of overly dramatic. This series hasn't been as good as I was hoping or expecting to this point. It looks nice and at times borders on interesting but I've yet to be wowed by anything I've seen. Ironically I've enjoyed another romance series I barely decided to watch because I thought it would be vastly inferior to this one much more so far this season. I am interested in seeing how Rintarou's reconciliation with his friends is handled, assuming it gets addressed and I haven't forgotten anything that might have already happened on that front, as well as where we go from here so the series still has potential to win me over, but yeah. Something of a wet fart of an episode I'm sorry to say. |

| Subaru crying and hating herself over nothing serious for 15+ minutes smh. Practically the definition of "drowning in a glass of water". Like seriously, why on earth are these kids so dramatic? Subaru was just being selfish and reasonably overprotective. She didn't blackmail nor tried to kill Rintarou ffs. A simple five-minute apology would have sufficed. 3/5 episode. Visuals carried like crazy this time around. |
| I was starting to wonder if this show would be kind of boring, but this EP was just especially good. And!? Guess what, waguri says for the first time that she does like tsumugi. And we are not on episode one, not on episode 2, not after their first meeting... It's the middle of episode SIX. And she hasn't said it to the guy himself yet, just telling subaru. It's not like love is in the air, falling over at first sight, They actually got to know each other first. This is so important, can more series pls be like this... There are at least a couple other things I've watched where the romance plot completely flop bcs they aren't like this. Or maybe from the beginning the characters are already friends and know each other, but they don't do a good job of making it feel that way... Anyway this was really well done. OH and then... Subaru says "this person kaoruko fell for is really..." Finish that sentence I was expecting her to say "a walking green flag" and then SHE BASICALLY DOES LMAO, No but like he isss. Bro is considerate and is determined to keep seeing waguri, but wants to make sure that is also ok with her and even her friend first. Genuinely what a nice guy. Also I wonder if tsumugi's bros will get development, at first Subaru just felt like some NPC but now she got some focus and I like her. The visuals continue to be some of the best I've seen recently, cloverworks my goat!! |

| Pretty good episode except I didn't like how Rintaro asked Subaru what he would need to do to keep seeing Kaoruko as it's really none of her business. While she is a better person for admitting to Kaoruko on what she did she should be the one asking Rintaro on what she can do to make up for what she asked him but I digress, hopefully this is all behind them. |

| Kaoruko and Subaru had a very emotional discussion together, it's heartwarming to see that Subaru managed to learn more about herself and her relationship with Kaoruko especially how it always has been this way even back then, now she will be more understanding and also realized that Rintarou is a good guy, she even wants to be friend with him, that's perfect ahah, Rintarou definitely didn't expect it |

| subaru is an obvious example of a narcissist yet the show goes on to "redeem" her, without changing anything about her. its like the author is ragebaiting me. i also dislike how the show always keeps waguri flushed to make her appear "cutesy". like damn, i get it, remove pink from her face now lol. anyhow, I saw episode 7 after this, and realized the story is just going to be a huge circlejerk of these idiotic characters, and have thus decided to drop it. I liked the first 5 episodes of the show, but now it looks like the show will keeep going around in circles |

| @khekou Glad I'm not completely alone in feeling this way. I see all the reactions like this is some heartwarming redemption, but all I'm seeing is Subaru full of self loathing and a codependent need to "protect" Kaoruko without respect for her agency, and Kaoruko accepting all that with her "belief" in her. How is Subaru supposed to learn from that? What will prevent her from doing more things that actually hurt Kaoruko? We maybe see she learned something anyway from her admission that she should have asked, but that's different from a commitment not to do it again. It doesn't seem like their long friendship of Kaoruko accepting her has made her better, so why would it now? This isn't a kindness to either of them. |

@Piromysl Subaru's name in kanji is 昴, which is definitely a girl's name. Actually most ways of writing Subaru seem to be girl's names. And dressing like a boy? Her trousers are clearly for women, and even if she does avoid skirts and dresses except when at school, how does that make her clothing masculine? If anything it's a sophisticated, feminine look. If she wanted to appear masculine she wouldn't have grown out her hair.
| Subaru and Kaoruko's relationship once again reminded me of how homoerotic the Japanese view of true female friendship is. In another context, I would have thought of Subaru as a typical overprotective gay friend, but in reality, she just has self-esteem issues and obsessively clings to her best friend as a beacon in her life. @Thoguht She does look very masculine. But in this case, it's just a representation of her low self-esteem and introversion, not gender in any sense. On the contrary, she associates femininity with courage and openly admits that she grew her hair out of admiration for her friend. Similarly, femininity represented the self-esteem issues of the male character in Horimiya. This has nothing to do with their gender identity, but is indirectly related to the social perception of gender. |
