Did they outsource 70% of this episode to another studio? I don't want to sound mean, but most of this episode didn't look like the work of (current) JC staff.
Or maybe they put literally ALL OF THEIR MONEY into this specific episode, because tbh this episode had season 2 animation quality again. I'm so confused about the difference in quality for EP8 and EP1-7. It's like two different worlds.

Dear friends, episode 8 is the worst one, and I'll explain why. It shows that the 3rd season could have been good, or at least on par with the 2nd season, because episode 8 has pretty decent animation. Actually, let me rephrase that: episode 8 has animation, and there's more of it than in episodes 1-7 combined. And that makes it even more painful, since episode 8 can't cancel out everything else.

So, does it save the situation? Imagine a pile of shit laid out in front of you; that's episodes 1 through 7 of One-Punch Man Season 3. And on top of it, they placed a cherry. That cherry is episode 8. A cherry is good, right? But all of it together is still a pile of shit. So, alas, the season as a whole is still a 1 out of 10. But honestly, I would rate episode 8 separately as a 6 out of 10, which is quite decent and on the level of Season 2

Producers must love Flashy Flash. The last moment before this episode that had a minimum amount of animation was the 2 ninjas fighting. I wonder if they'll do this kind of effort again.

An improvement, some good animation in a fight, but unpolished, back directed and half the episode was very bad

The Flash Fight was probably a highlight of this season. I wish all of the season was like that, but it is sadly not. I still felt like this episode was worth watching just because of this fight... I'm satisfied enough.

OK, this was actually slightly interesting.

Didn't care about shitty ninja fight, even his parting words to the dead ninjas were lame ("More training.".. really?). Seems like a lot of budget wasted on a generic ninja we've seen a million times.

Now Child Emperor, I was not expecting that character to be fun. Why the fuck did we not see more of this than generic trashy heroes fighting generic monsters up top?

The animation is a a bit step up from previous episodes, but that isn't saying much when it went from 1/10 animation & visuals to 3/10.

Whoever the writer/director of this shit-show is, fire them.

PS: "One Punch Man" still missing from the fucking show named after him.

This flashy flash fight was about the quality I was expecting for every fight before this season aired. Sadly this will probably be the peak of this season. Still I'm glad that we actually broke the one frame barrier for longer than 10 seconds.

Flashy burning sonic at the start, come on man. Sonic was probs>>>>>>>garou s1 and 2=(

Would flash be twice as fast if he didnt walk on heels for no reason/guy has the strongest word ever. Pretty fun episode tho. Duo fights where they actually have teamwork are always some of the most fun to watch. Flash only stabbing was eh tho =(

edit:Not a fan of the '' well we have Monsters who can beat everyone but we're just gonna have them attack the only one they can't beat so they won't be an issue later'' trope tho. But it is what it is

He looks like class B at most. I hope he does have much more to show, because if all he has is some cheap tech gadgets, one hit and he's gone forever.

The first half of the episode was really decently animated. I was not expecting it to be animated ad all and there were even subtle movelents that would be stills slidign across the screen before. That part when he was braking on the wall was actually animated and I was 100% sure it would be another "Garou lawn slide" situation ...

@Ram_Res_Roas It could have been the best fight of the fall season and people would still be complaining so it doesn't matter. It was good enough.

I don't even know why people have such insane expectations for this show because it's not like the source is amazing. It's a very simplestic manga with pretty good art but the actual webcomic itself is super average if not below average

I can't get over how one of Flashy Flash's signature techniques is named "Flashy Slash".

And credit where it's due, not only was the animation actually animated this time, but it was kinda alright at parts. Flashy, even.
@FarCritical I was thinking the same^"

The names also don't really fit his personality but I guess it sounds better in Japanese

Definitely a huge improvement, I'd be happy if the rest of season was this well done but who knows if they'll be able to keep it up. Still its important to give credit where its due and this was a pretty good episode!

finally some movement but thats just the bare minimum. the flashy laser beams flying effect during some other anime's fights can look good but it just looks lazy here and most of the episode was still a mess. even though the fight looked decent at times, its 3 characters who i have no interest in at all so there's still no excitement either way.

They saved every last dollar (er, yen) they could so they could pour their entire savings into the first half of this episode.

And it's still nothing compared to the first two seasons.

Better than rest of the season 3 episodes but it's still not even better than season 2 which in itself was worse than season 1. Who is the genius that keeps thinking those neon filters are good.

looks like it got decent because the main animator of OPM S2, Kenichiro Aoki stepped in to try and leverage the fights from there, hence the sudden increase in quality. Check his work, it just got updated. He's the animation director of S3 for Episode 8

I heard this week’s episode was actually good for once, and I gotta say I agree, this was overall a solid episode, it was far from perfect but it actually felt like it was finished and not rushed out the door for the most part for the first time this season, even the second half of the episode I thought was better than usual. I’m not getting my hopes up for the rest of the season just because we got one solid episode, but I am still pleasantly surprised for now, especially since this is the first episode I’m watching after I finished my rewatch of Season 1, talk about night and day different right there lol.

About the content itself, I wish we could’ve got more details on the two ninjas Gale Wind and Hellfire Flame, but we got the basic gist of their beef with Flashy Flash while they fought, it was enough to make it a bit more than a flashy fight (see what I did there), Flashy Flash came out on top in the end but the reveal that it was pretty much the perfect matchup for him goes to show how strong those two actually were, Flashy Flash made them look somewhat easy since he finished them in one move so I liked that added bit of context, but since they threw away their humanity for the strength of monsters, good riddance lol. And we also got to see Child Emperor save that rich kid, as well as see him in action, I’ve always wondered why he’s an S Class hero and we kinda saw that here, but so far it’s just been advanced gadgets, I imagine he has more up his sleeve, but it’s been cool seeing all of the stuff he pulls out of that backpack.

And as a final note, I do want to mention that I’ve seen the evidence of AI usage in this season, which is a real shame if it’s really true, all I can do is hope it isn’t but some of the stuff looks hard to deny.

@Vileste @Vileste, they had a limited budget and time, and you have like 10 fights.

Either spread out the budget and have a lower-than-average show or ditch the short, uninteresting fights and focus on the major ones.

This is why after the first fight you can notice that the quality dropped again because whatever was happening wasn't major, so why waste money there? Many studios do that when they have a limited budget, but what happened with JC Staff is that the budget was even lower than the budget of average shows, which is not fair.

I am assuming they are focusing on these last few episodes, especially that Saitama will be on action.

Ok, this is the only episode in the entire season that I somewhat enjoyed, which isn't saying much because the previous episodes are utter dogshit, but this is the only episode that at least kept my attention, and I can see that they at least TRIED with this one, which is nice for a change. I rate the previous episode a 4/10 or less; I rate this one a 7/10, and I would probably rate it an 8/10 if it wasn't for those goddamn Ghosting/Dimming effects, which I absolutely hate in anime; that shit ruins my enjoyment.

But yeah, I have to give credit where credit is due, and this episode is actually nice for a change. And according to the animator, episode 9 is one of the episodes they poured their "heart and souls" out, or whatever, so color me surprised, I'm actually a bit hyped for the next episode.

Finally, this is the only episode that I'm not entirely shitting on, so as you all can see, if something is good, then we will actually praise it, but when something is bad, like the previous goddamn dogshit episodes, then we just shit on it since it's bad. 1 or 2 good episodes won't save this anime. I still believe this season is dogshit, but at least I won't rate it a 2/10 by the end of it. I may rate it a bit higher, probably a 4/10 or 5/10; it will be a miracle if I rate it higher than that, but let's see.

Was positive that the high-speed battle of Flashy Flash would continue to be panning-png's galore. But yeah to everyone's surprise here, it wasn't half bad at all. It had its usual ugly art when they're standing around talking, but when the action went down and everyone goes super-sonic... yeah I gotta say I'm glad we got at least one fight this season that's at least somewhat solid.

This episode was actually a fun watch, and It's definitely the best of the season so far. However, it made me sad to think about how great season 3 could have been if J.C. we're given enough time/budget. They've shown time and time again that they are a capable studio.

Damn solid episode, this is one aspect where OPM shines is making the plot move forward without Saitama. In reality, its never about him, but rather the heroes and monsters. I care because the plot is moving forward 👍🏿

Those who rate it above one must really love eating s*** — as if they’ve just wiped the previous episodes from their memory. Bandai Namco will look at the rising score and say:
‘Well, everything seems fine, ratings are going up. In Season 4 we can just f*** ** more than half the episodes and throw out a single one (with maybe 11 good minutes),’
and we, as consumers, will just consume whatever they dump out. Bravo, guys. If you keep supporting the publishers like this, all our attempts to lower this season’s rating will just go to waste.

One Punch Man did NOT deserve such a horrible animation.

Could have at least used your main account but whatever. I don't think Japan gives a fuck about MAL ratings to begin with, it's the Japanese audience which is their main target.

You get the most generic, barely average anime nr.566 every season for how many years? And they still somehow get multiple seasons, so it means that people in Japan must like that crap since they make sales and then the studios continue making more seasons. Honestly, idk what's the actual situation in Japan when it comes to this, but that's just how it looks to me and it's kind of a shame.
