SolviteSekai said: The sad part is this show still looks like it was made in 1991. I mean, sure, defend yourself for being hyped by calling it "retro" or whatever, but if you showed someone this show theyd probably just think it was made in the 90s with the other shit, minus the "buy our toys" transformation scene. This show is a cheap shitty cash grab by toei, and the DESPERATE Sailor Moon fans who will let Toei bastardize a classic just because they want more shit to watch are a shame on their fanbase. I'd love to see a new Season of Deadwood, more than almost anything, but if it was going to be a b movie show with low budget issues featuring reused audio from the Sopranos, id gladly pass. Lol, I think someone needs to go back and watch the original so they can see what 90's animation really looks like ;P This episode looked nothing like 90's animation quality. |

Did they seriously waste all of the shows budget on Momoiro Clover or something. The animation is shit, the chara designs are shit, the background art is absolute pile of garbage. What are they thinking? This is seriously a spit in the face by toei to fans of Sailor Moon. Is it really just "Hey they wanted a Manga adaptation, but they probably do not want any kinda effort at all, just that they get the story is the important part." Disgusting. Toei could maybe take a little money from their dear Pre-Cure and actually try to produce a watchable product to all of us expecting something special. I will continue watching as I never finished the manga, so it will be nice to see what the story is. So please no spoilers manga readers. Not everyone have read the manga. Toei should be ashamed. For now. Original anime > This. Fucking quality shit right here in the spoiler. You think Toei actually spends money? Look at the recent Precure season and One Piece episodes.... This is just modern Toei being Toei, they don't care equally about all their series. Funny, when I saw that scene I was appreciating the art. I thought it was a homage to the art of the 90's series. Compare with this for instance: |

It was really weird and different for me to see that, but it wasn't bad by any means. It reminded me a lot of newer anime style fighting game graphics where they try to make 3D games look as 2D as possible. I don't hate it but I think I prefer the original transformation sequence better. |

| Y'all are some bah humbugs. Like others, the only thing I had a problem with was the henshin. I'm thinking of the new series, as they've claimed, as a more faithful adaptation of the manga, and that's what I've seen so far. Nothing extraordinarily modern and revised. Plus it's only one episode in. I thought I would hate the style much more than I actually did, though Jadeite should look more ~evil. But meh we only saw a few seconds of him. Can't wait to meet the other scouts! |

Really hate how long it'll take to finish the series but... maybe... maybe I can hope that... their using that time to work on S, Super S, n Stars? Maybe? *small voice* please? |

And this is from S Movie: http://hauntedflowerreviews.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/sailor-moon-super-s-movie.png?w=780 Compared to a serialized anime a bigger budget and longer production, but still the same art style as far as backgrounds go. I love the ending as well! The animation is so beautiful in the ending <3. There were some changes I liked while others I didn't like. Of course >_>; Moon Tiara Boomerang is one that I hated. How could they change a classic attack T_T; haha. It's quite strange how I prefer the older female character designs over these while I prefer the newer male character designs over the older xD. I wish all remakes would use a new version of the old music at least. This goes for DBZ Kai and HxH too. I don't even think it has anything to do with nostalgia, the old music was simply better and tend to be more catchy. |

Was MD great song? Sure. IT was a classic. But MD had its time, it lasted way too long anyway and did so because old anime woul keep same op to save money. Sailor Stars already had a different OP so even the producers of previous one grew weary of it. And now its ~20 years latter. I'd say that OP would not serve as well for representing this show(since its more of a war story of group of girls finding their inner strength, than a story of two lovers) and the first thing a remake has to do is to differentiate itself from the previous version. |

| I'm not rating the episode, since I don't really know what to think about it... The story was okay, I remember both manga and original anime introduction parts as being slow so I just hope we won't have to wait forever for the whole Inner Senshi team. The voice acting was okay too. But the animation, ugh... I was not a fan of new designs from the start (too bright colors, too pretty, shiny faces and too much hair everywhere) - they were supposed to be more like Takeuchi's art, but they lack the liveliness and fluidity the manga had. And the color promo illustrations weren't oversaturated like that. I would let it slide if everything wasn't so stiff. Seriously, this is the best animation this studio has to offer? Sacrificing fluidity for the cuteness? Just compare the last pose from both transformation sequences, when Usagi makes the horizontal v-sign. The original one is drawn worse, right, but the pose is dynamic and natural. The new one just looks like a mannequin that can topple over any moment. |

| So... The first episode is the first episode is the first episode. It's pretty much the same as all of the other versions, with minor variations, so I can't really make any major criticisms there. I'm still having trouble getting used to this new face style, after seeing the old version for 20 years. The high point, though, was that final scene showing Ami trying to outrun the rain. She was my first anime crush when I was a teenager, so that at least entices me to keep watching for now (unless I become really disappointed with how things start to turn out). |

| Welcome back, my childhood... Though for this experience, I am watching this as a "new viewer". I remember the 90s version being more expressive, but the anime has kept it's signature bishoujo vibe and style, which was amazing. But oh man, I gotta get used to Usagi. (Again, as a "new viewer" experience.) I am one of the few or many who is alright with the transaction to 3DCG for the transformation, mostly because I am used to PreCure. The OST bought me back this vibe that got me the reason to watch PreCure. I hope I can see the legit track soon! (Also haters gonna hate.) |

Sailor Moon is primarily a romance anime/manga after all so it makes sense that we should have a romantic song like Moonlight Densetsu. Maybe the OP/EDs will change half-way through and we'll get to hear it then. Yeah I didn't like the Boomerang either but apparently that is the original name of the attack in the manga. I'm still on the fence on whether I should watch this bi-monthly or if I should just forget about it for half a year and then marathon everything. Decisions, decisions. Yes! 1 forum post after 6 years?? Haha ^_^ who would have thought it would be about sailor moon! and that you would be the one to make me :D. Oh so boomerang is from the manga?? I guess I cant complain about it then T_T;. Im on the fence too T_T;. Sailor Moon is primarily a romance anime/manga after all so it makes sense that we should have a romantic song like Moonlight Densetsu. it has romance but 99% of manga is pretty much actions to the point that it could fit into shonen publications just as well. Lol, I know right! Kinda ironic that they actually turned down the action when they made the 1st anime, even though most their changes we're to "drawn in more males". Sir_Lexa said: Fai said: Sir_Lexa said: I am so pissed. After waiting for like forever after the original announcement of the show, this is what we get? Did they seriously waste all of the shows budget on Momoiro Clover or something. The animation is shit, the chara designs are shit, the background art is absolute pile of garbage and I am not going to talk about the CG transformation. Thats a fucking stylistical choice. The manga also uses the crayon backgrounds. That's like getting anoyed that most of utena's op are silhouettes. So? It still looks cheap and lazy. And how is people without faces a stylistical choice? uh, please. I bet you that Toei didn't do it because it was a "Stylistical choice" They did it because of a "Money saving choice" +I never cared about the manga art. I respect Takeuchi, but her art and chara designs were shit imo. Um, should go without saying that an anime that's being faithful to the manga will have the art style of the manga. Just seems like a really stupid thing to bitch over. And how often do you pay attention to peoples faces in the background irl. Tell the truth I barely even recognize the people I pass on the street's shape much less their face. As good as amorphous blobs to me. This is the same, they just aren't important. They're also far enough away that it doesn't matter as you wouldn't really see their faces anyway. Sighs Hater's gonna hate I guess ;P |

| It was a nice episode. Nice animation, but still, music is too similar to precure music. The one of the transformation sounds too similar to smile precure transformation. |

| Have you saw the preview of the next episode? Crunchyroll's release doesn't have it. If someone hasn't seen it yet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEPcAZ8Vi94 it's right after the ending. |

The animation is very different to the old version but that's not a problem. Overall good episode In the name of the Moon I will punish you. What a catchphrase.... |

Sailor Moon is primarily a romance anime/manga after all so it makes sense that we should have a romantic song like Moonlight Densetsu. I'm curious to hear your opinion on Moonlight Densetsu. What do you think about it? Do you prefer the new OP? Should they have re-used some of the old OST or no? Personally it doesn't feel like Sailor Moon without the old theme song. To me it represents everything Sailor Moon stands for. The song says it best: "Mirakuru Romansu" <3 I think moonlight densetsu could have worked, but not if it was performed by Momoiro Clover Z. I don't like their cover, it's rather bland. Interestingly though, if you listen to Moon Pride, the first verse borrows a little bit from Moonlight Densetsu. It has the same rhythm and melodic shape. Nonyflah said: So... ME TOO. /highfive Mod Edit: Double post combined. |

Nonyflah said: Also, I just realized that Crunchyroll actually translated the theme song lyrics! They never do that! I demand an explanation! Explanation is that it's not Crunchyroll who does the translations, it's the studios. And they each follow their own rules. That's why you can find some series with honoriffics and others that omit them entirely; series with serious localization and series that will actually put footnotes into their subtitles; et cetera. ranoa said: SolviteSekai said: agree, ruining my enjoyment when read that... ;_;Damn people are making a ton of excuses for this show.
