Okay, i enjoyed it, but damn, it was soo rushed i couldnt focus. In manga it felt like they were trying to find that taxi ghoul for weeks even months. Here they just found him right away. But overall it was decent, Didnt like the OP tho, like, if i would comare it to unravel, anything else is going to suck. And animation could be better

s1 was bad, this won't be any better, but i'm really happy they skip all the investigators bullshit, 'cause starting the manga from the most boring side ruined it for me completely

First you should read manga. The first season adapted 63 chapters of the manga in 12 episodes of anime. Do not jump anything important in history. The original manga is very slow and has a lot of stuffing, too many things happen that do not matter.

"Praising S1"? No sane manga reader praises any part of the adaptation that is Tokyo Ghoul.

I loved the first season and I started reading the manga in 2012. There are many people who do not realize that the manga is too slow to be an anime, many of the content of the manga is just stuffed. The manga of Tokyo Ghoul re is so slow that I left it in chapter 100, because the story never went to the important things, I was always giving a lot of laps in unnecessary things and the really important things I never explain them well.

First of all, you're wrong about the first season's adaptation. The first season adapted around 60 chapters, while Root A adapted the rest of the manga, while doing their own anime original thing. So that makes the original anime have an average pace of 5 chapters per episode.

Second of all... there is no manga reader, literally no manga reader, that would say that the TG anime was a praiseworthy adaptation.

They're ignoring the prequel completely and adapting it based on the manga, things seem good for tokyo ghoul re but don't get your hopes up, this is Studio Pierrot we're talking about.

It was alright, hopefully they don't spend the entire budget on the first episode like RootA did.

Show feels a lot more, shounen, maybe kiddy? Might be the artwork giving the vibes.

Alright OP. Meh ED.

Does anyone know what the poster of Hideyoshi says? Are they going with the manga or the anime version of him?

I know everyone is likely sceptical but I DON'T GIVE A SHIT.
SCREW IT, I'm hyped AF. I don't even care anymore. The opening is fucking great and I haven't been this excited for an anime in a long time. This should be an easy win for them if they adapt the manga faithfully and don't rush it too much, as the first 50-75 chapters of :re were amazing.
There were a lot of cool moments in this episode.
-I like how they depict Urie's side voice
-Surprisingly good & exciting action choreography
-Some cool looking shots in general

Also some bad things, like an anime studio of this Excalibur shouldn't be messing up character proportions in still shots. We're talking DBS Ep5 level shots, and on that note they'll probably be cleaned up in bluray.

I just appreciate being able to see this stuff animated... THE HYPE IS TOO REAL

Wow, this was actually better than I expected. Judging by the OP, this is gonna be rushed just like the previous two seasons sadly.

So far it's a decent start with the QS on the move for Torso. The introductions were quick and the action got rolling immediately. Only complaint here is that the OST for when Haise was facing off against Serpent. Just felt awkward using a track like that.

The OP and ED are pretty nice as well. I'm not expecting much from this since Studio Pierrot never does faithful adaptations but I'll most likely enjoy this nonetheless.

Apparently they still haven't learned how to adapt this series. It's laughable at this point. Not that I'm a fan of the series because I'm not but it's pretty funny that it continues to get adaptations and every adaptation ends up floundering. This will probably be the same, but maybe not. My tolerance for dropping shows has lowered over the years so maybe this will hit the chopping block for once.

Alright episode. Could have been better but also worse.
I liked the quinqe members in the manga and their personalitys, I hope their charm stays the same.

Op is kinda meh still better than Roots Op tho, it also spoiled a little.
Ed song was decent.

Kaneki's been captured by the CCG and "brainwashed" into having no memories nor personaity, and raised as a new person, and some experiments on his condition of artificial ghoul that led to the Quinx. But to really understand what led to this and what will happen on the next episodes, you'll need to read the first manga.

Tobiramaa said:

Feel sorry for you, but :Re focused on the QuinX and Haise until recently.

------------

Ok, so the first episode just came out, and it covered 6 chapters, which is quite a lot for the start, but. It's quite soon to be judging but what i'm supposed to do here, right?

The art looks really good compared to the fiasco that was Root A. The OST is as good as always, and the studio didn't royally screw up yet, and they had plenty of chances to do so. I don't expect it to exactly follow the manga, but they seem to have plans to adapt up to the Rosewald arc, since they've shown Eto and Furuta, and having that in mind, I WANT to believe that they will try to do things right this time. Or perhaps they will just throw shit to the wind once again. What do you guys think?

How was the censoring in the episode(if there was any)? With the original I chose to rather wait for the Bluray as I found the inverted colours and black shadows very annoying.

So is it bad in re?

there doesn't seem to be any censoring, but that's because there's next to no gore.

Well i hope there will be censoring later on because some stuff was just way to graphic and phucked up. And that might also be the reason why they didnt show the arima fight. I mean come on how do you want to put this into a kids show?
And to make it more clear what im not talking about. id like to see phuck.

They couldn't have shown the fight, since the studio chose to write a totally different story from the manga, and didn't build up to that. Instead they just showed Kaneki surrendering to the CCG after eating Hide and feeling guilty about it. But sincerely no one should consider Root A as canon.

As someone who hasn't read the manga, I'm going to give my perspective on this first episode.

Even though I never read the manga I honestly upset with how Pierrot treated the original TG adaptations. There was no levity, it was very edgy just for the sake of being so (especially root A, it was SO out of character for Kaneki to join Aogiri). And by the end of root A pacing problems and plot holes made the final episodes very difficult to enjoy.

I didn't get the same impression from :re at all. I love that there's a bit more lightheartedness to it.Quality wise, it's what I'd expect from Pierrot. I was expecting a different tone for the opening but at least its better than root A. Haise is a good protagonist from what I can tell so far, and although the pacing at the end of the episode was a little wonky, I think it was forgivable considering it ends on a cliffhanger.

Overall, 4/5, a solid first episode and I will definitely keep watching!

Pretty decent start.

I was pretty much able to understand what's going on even though I'm an anime only and given the amount of people that say reading the manga is better, I should probably read it soon.

Anyway, the action was decent. I'd wager the original Tokyo Ghoul had a much stronger first episode by far.

I thought Sasaki was a different person but the final scene kinda hints that he is in some way connected to Kaneki.
Pierrot production isn't really stellar but I guess I can get by with it, really wish they'd step up their game. None of their recent shows have been good. Still, I'm looking forward to more.

Average from all aspects so far and the animation looks like a down-grade compared to season 1. Hopefully this is at least better than Root A.

This series lost all of it’s flavour after season one of the anime imo, but I will still be watching to see how it goes.

So far my rating is 5/10, but I see that rating lowering more as the plot unfolds. Maybe the anime will save it self, but I doubt it because even the source material is incomprehensible garbage.

Fair enough, but I meant more in terms of whether it's meant to be a mystery to the audience or not, and if it's played as a massively shocking revelation to the audience when it is eventually revealed?

No, I do not think so. After all, it is revealed in the first episode.

I really missed seeing Akira Mado again. Can't tell if it was just too long since the last anime series ended, or if Asami Seto just got better as a seiyuu, because I could hardly recognize her voice in this season. At any rate, I'm glad this show is back.
