| The screens all turn red with "NO DATA" plastered on all of them. "Dammit!" Zaine kicks at the dirt. He almost throws his pendant on the ground, but thinks better of it and stops himself. He sighs and turns his attention back to the screens. Zaine then types in a new set of words to search, but get the same results. Once more, yields the same yet again. Clearly flustered, Zaine closes the CIDU, and squats on the ground, muttering to himself. |
| "Are you sure you are spelling your search correctly?' He takes the CIDU. "Even if you did. It could just be information not yet recorded on here. There is hope." |
| Zaine looks up at Brink with a mix of sadness and anger. He stands up slowly, the anger fading as he stands. "I'm not giving this to you." He holds up the CIDU. |
| "What? Why? That might not be mine but I know how to use it!!" he absorbs that anger. |
| "It's not your's." Zaine smirks at the rising anger in Brink. "Besides, I have to get it back to Alexi without her realizing it. Wouldn't be good at my trade if I didn't return it unnoticed would I?" He walks off towards the throng of crew members. |
| Brink sighs and shakes his head. "Foreigners." |
| -----Time Lapse----- The crew has finished packing equipment and gathering necessary supplies for the return trip. Everyone is aboard the Aurora now, doing last-minute preparations for launch. Alexi returned to her quarters while Cyn has taken charge of the crew. Zaine stands atop the deck, leaning on the railing, looking out over the mountains and down into the town of Ebon. He sighs as he surveys the landscape. "Can I be homesick if this planet wasn't really my home?" he says quietly to himself. He sighs again and traces the shape of the six-point star on the his pendant. |
| Brink walks around the ship doing last minute inspections. He is holding his clipboard from before. |
| Zaine shoves off the railing and walks aimlessly around. He eventually finds himself in the presence of Cyn, who, as usual, is tossing his knives at a pole in the bar area. "You've been looking a little down lately." Zaine looks up at him and shrugs. "I guess so." He seats himself on a nearby stool and watches as Cyn throws his knives at the same four notches in the wood. Each knife lands with a soft thunk as it pierces the wood. "Well, you are leaving your planet for the first time." Cyn walks over and pulls the knives out, then returns to his place. "I would think it's a bit unnerving." Zaine merely grunts in response. He's looking at his pendant now; studying it as if it holds some secret that he can't reach. |
| Brink walks in. "If you are part of the crew shouldn't you be helping launch the Aurora ?" |
| "Uh...Yea...but..." Zaine fumbles. "Hey," Cyn chimes in, "Leave the kid be. Besides, he barely knows how to work anything on the ship, and he barely knows his way around." He walks over to Brink. "I say we let him get accustommed to his surroundings first before we just throw him into the duties of crewmanship." |
| Brink "Of you insist." He rolls his eyes and walks away a tad irritated. |
| Cyn pats Zaine on the shoulder before returning to his spot. "You didn't have to say that." Zaine says. "No. I didn't. But I did." "Why? I could actually be doing something if you guys gave me something to do." "Yeah. You could. But we're not going to order you around." Cyn walks over to the pole to grab his knives. "Besides, you look like you got something that's bothering you. I figure it's best to let you solve that before I give you a job where your mind will just wander on us." Zaine was silent for a while. Then he said, "Thanks Cyn." and walked to his quarters. |
| Alexi sat in the storage room and inspected the object in her hand carefully. There couldn't be any scratches on it or it would be worhtless. After the incendent with the Fornost, she wasn't going to taken any more chances. She concluded her inspection, placed the item in a pouch, tied the pouch to her belt, and left the storage room. |
| (Ugh I am so tired. I can't wait to head back to Kavarda.) "These people are nuts." shakes head and continues on with his inspection. |
