| Cyn makes to take off into the temple, but Alexi stop him. "Stay here Cyn. He's long gone by now." Alexi shakes her head. "Crux isn't his real name." She switches the ammo on her gun and shoots Zaine in the shoulder and abdomen with it. It creates a light blue mist around his wounds that continues to stay there while she patches him up. "We definitely know him. He's not a guy you want to get involved with." "He's a dirty b*stard!" Cyn says, angry. "We have to go after him while we have the chance." Alexi shakes her head again. "C'mon!" He kicks a stone across the dining hall, shattering some of the stone figures into dust. Alexi just continues to silently work on Zaine's injuries. |
| Alan becomes curious. "Who exactlly is this guy?" -- "Some space pirate I am assuming." Brink arrives back at the scene. |
| "No," Alexi says, overly calm. "He's no pirate. They're honorable, have a code, and don't do things like him." She pauses. "Not like him." Alexi finishes stitching and motions for Zaine to sit up, then starts wrapping bandages around him. Zaine winces as he sits upright. "Sounds like you to know him," he says carefully. "How?" "Yeah," Cyn says, still angry. "We've known the b*stard for a long time. It's been a real pleasure too." He scoffs at the ground. |
| "I'd advise you not to ask, Zaine. Seems like it's a touchy subject." Brink warns. -- Alan looks at Alexi's expression with curiosity. (She has some type of history with him.) |
| Alexi straps the bandages' edge down with a clip. "Well, if you put it in the nicest way possible, Crux has been a friend of my family for generations." She gets up and helps Zaine to his feet telling him to go slow and take it easy. Cyn walks out and towards the big statue in the previous room. |
| Brink studies the frozen people in their cold prison. -- Alan let's Zaine use her as an crutch while he gets his balance. |
| "Unless you guys want to explore this temple," Alexi says, "then I suggest we get back to the ship." "I would like to look around," Zaine says. "But I don't think I'd get very far." "Speaking of that, how did you guys find this place?" Zaine smiles. "We hitched a ride." |
| "THERE WAS THIS BIRD THING AND IT WAS HUGE AND AWESOME!" Alan exclaims very loudly. -- "......Yeah we should head out then" Brink agrees with Alexi. |
| Alexi laughs at Alan's excitement. "That's great Alan. Sounds nice." "It looked like the statue out there." Zaine says. "This must be its home." Alexi nods. "My guess would be its this temple guardian deity." She switches out the ammo in her gun back to lethal rounds. "Well, let's get out of here." The four of them walk out of the dining hall and back into the main entry, where the statue of the creature is. Cyn is nowhere to be found. "Great." Alexi mutters to herself. |
| Alan sighs. "Still, I wonder of the creature brought us to Crux on purpose." -- Brink nods. "It definitely did. Sorry." |
| "That thing is probably one his trained pets," Alexi says as she rifles through her bag, trying to find her com unit. She pulls it out and attaches it to her ear. "He's got a ton of them." She types some stuff on her pod. "Find him?" Zaine asks. He's leaning against the statue, poking his abdomen gently. "Yeah," she replies. "He's down the corridor to the left a ways, staring at the wall." She closes the pod in her hand and returns it to her bag, leaving the com unit attached to her ear. "What is that thing?" "It's a device used to locate things that it has registered. Normally it can only register actual things and not organic life, but I had Cyn modify it for me." She heads towards the corridor. "You guys can start heading out; I catch up with you once I grab him." |
| "If you say so." Alan replies, confident in her friend. -- "Just be careful, okay..?" Brink says as he leads the rest out of the cave. |
| Alexi smiles at Brink's concern. She walks down the corridor and finds Cyn about halfway down it, staring at the glyphs on the wall. Standing next to him, she looks at the wall. "We're leaving now." Alexi says into the silence. He nods. "Stop thinking about it will you?" "How can I not be?" He says angrily. "I swore that I---" "I know. But now is not the time for that. You aren't ready. Wait until we have the advantage. That'll be the only way." "We had the advantage last time and look what it got us." Sh walks around him and pushes towards the exit. He doesn't resist. "C'mon. We can't have the others waiting for us." The two meet up with the others at the entrance to the temple. |
| "What took you love birds so long?" Alan giggles teasingly. -- "Now, now they are hardly "love birds", Alan." Brink says, calm on the outside but nervous on the inside. |
| Zaine watches Cyn walk silently behind Alexi. (I've seen that look before...) Alexi hits Alan on her shoulder playfully. "Hardly. What about you two huh?" She sighs. "Well, let's head back to the ship then." The group starts walking back through the desert. "How you holding up Zaine?" Alexi asks. Zaine rolls his shoulder slowly, testing it out. "My shoulder's a bit sore, but it's my stomach that really hurts." "I tried what I could with what I have, but I'll treat you properly once we get back." "Thanks." |
| "Do you think the ship is up and running again?" Brink asks. "I actually like exploring but if the flowers we're right then we should hurry." --- "Zaine and I? I don't know if we are in love but I know that I would die for him in a heart beat so, I guess we are." Alan grabs his hand lightly. "I'm glad your okay." |
| Alexi pauses to think. "The ship better be up and running otherwise the stand-in captain is going to be left here," she says seriously. Zaine smiles at Alan. "Yeah, me too. It's a good thing Alexi is a medic." She laughs. "I wouldn't call me a medic Zaine." "How 'bout a nurse then?" "I can't really picture that either." Zaine and Cyn: (I can.) |
| Brink's face stretches into a giant grin. A bit of blood dripping from his nostrils. -- Alan smiles "You would be good at either!" (Nurses are cool) |
| (LOL! You just had to do that right?) Alexi smiles at Alan. "Oh no, I think you would make a good nurse!" Cyn and Zaine look Alan over once, imagining a nurse's outfit on her. Zaine and Cyn: (Maybe both of them should try and be nurses...) |
| (YES! LOL!) Alan smiles excitedly. "Do you really think so?" -- Brink cringes a bit imagining Alan's 5-year old looking body. (No...No) |
| "Yeah! Oh hey,..." Alexi leans towards Alan so the guys can't hear. Zaine and Cyn walk a bit closer so they can. "What do you say we try some stuff on. I have quite the collection at home." She leans back. "It'd be fun." Zaine pulls Cyn back and whispers to him so the girls can't hear. "What does she mean she's got a collection?" "She means what she said," Cyn whispers back. "Alexi has a crapton of outfits and dresses and things at home." "She likes to dress up?" "She loves it. Every year for her birthday we go out shopping for new outfits." Cyn thinks a second. "Though I'm just used a pack mule." Zaine laughs. "I would never have guessed. She doesn't seem the type to like that sort of thing." |
| Alan looks at Alexi curiously and whispers back. "What kind of outfits?" -- "She definitely doesn't seem that type.." Brink buts in still fantasizing. |
| "Oh you know," Alexi says. "Like nurses, maids, waitresses, cultural stuff..." She lists then off on her fingers as she goes. "I've got a whole bunch from traveling and trade. I might even have some stuff from your planet." "What are the odds she'd try some stuff on for us?" Zaine asks. Cyn chuckles. "She'd probably be glad too if you just asked her. Though, she'd definitely drag Alan in this too. Maybe even one of us." "What do you mean?" "She doesn't just have outfits for women. She's got a whole bunch for guys too." |
| Alan gives a wide and ecstatic smile. "OKAY! As soon as we get to your planet we should have a fashion show with everyone involved!" -- Brink shakes his head slowly. (This was not in the plan..) |
| Alexi smiles. "Hear that boys? We're gonna have some fun when we get back!" |
| Brink swallows hard and looks at the boys. "Great." -- Alan walks over to Zaine and grabs his hand tight. "This will be fun, hu!?" She smiles. |
| Zaine half smiles. "Um, can I be exempt from this since I have some pretty serious injuries?" Alexi laughs at him. "Once we get back to the ship, you won't even be able to feel them anymore; You'll feel good as new after I've taken care of you." "Oh. That's good news," he says unenthusiastically. Cyn just smiles at them all and continues walking. ----- After a few more minutes of walking through the desert, the party reaches the forest and once again treks back to the ship. Fifteen minutes of listening to the excited chatter of Alexi and Alan, and the party arrived back at the ship. Alexi talks to the crew for an update then takes Zaine onto the ship to treat his wounds properly, leaving Cyn, Brink, and Alan to their own devices. |
| Alan walks up to Cyn with a devious smirk. "So maybe you should let ME pilot next time, yeah?" She giggles in the most evil way, very unusual for her. -- Brink giggles along with her. "Yeah Cyn, your piloting skills are a bit crashy, hah!" |
| Cyn keeps on working on his PDA device, moving assignments around on the schedule. "Hmm," he says, not looking up from his work. "Says the one who crashed into my ship. That's one hell of a first impression ya know." --- The med bay of the ship is small but big enough to serve its purpose. Alexi rearranges some things that fell when when the ship crashed, carefully replacing them on their shelves. "Sit down over there," Alexi says to Zaine, motioning to a exam bed. "And take your shirt off. If you can, remove the bandages from around your abdomen while you're at it. It'll save time." "Alright," Zaine says as he starts following her instructions. "Say...can I ask you something?" "It's about Crux isn't it?" "Yeah," he says carefully. "How do you really know him?" The clinking of glass and metal is his answer as Alexi continues to move the medical supplies around. "If I'm out-stepping my boundaries then--" "No. You're not." She walks over to the bed and sets some supplies down next to Zaine. "You have a right to know since he nearly killed you. But, I'd like to tell everyone all at once. I hate having to repeat myself." |
| "That was different, I was hit by a mercenary ship. They were trying to bounty me." Alan says defensivly. "That's right, I'm a wanted lady!" She poses proudly like an old war hero. "I seriously doubt that Alan. What did you do? Accidentally trip and fall on a fly? You couldn't hurt anything!" Brink giggles. "There is no way your wanted! Unless it is for other crashes you've committed." |
| (Join the club...) Cyn chuckles. "Just how many ships have you crashed into?" He moves some things around on the screen of his PDA. --- Zaine continues holding the tools Alexi told him to, trying not to move as she re-stitches his wound. "There," Alexi says. "Now just let me do your arm and you'll be all finished." "Can I stay laying down for this one?" Zaine asks. "I don't think I want to get up." She smiles. "It's fine. You'll just have to tilt while I take the bandages off." |
| "I have only crashed into two, thank you very much!" A very irritated Alan replies. -- Brink chuckles along with Cyn. "I don't believe that for a second." |
| "I somehow doubt that," Cyn says while laughing. --- With the bandages off, Alexi works on Zaine's shoulder. "I'm surprised," she says while mending his torn muscle. "You're a much better patient than I thought you would be." "Thanks," Zaine scoffs. "I'm sort of used to it." "Oh?" "The way I've grown up, surrounded by fighting and war, you get used to having a few scrapes." "Hmm." Alexi switches tools, grabbing medicated gel and bandages. "How'd you learn this medical stuff?" "From my mom," she says as she applies the gel to his shoulder. "She was a doctor and a people person. Was real big on helping people." |
| "Fine! I don't need you to believe me. I have my own assurance!" Alan scoffs as she sits on the ground Indian style. Brink starts trying to power up his own PDA."Still nothing. We need to get out of here." |
| "She sounds nice," Zaine says as Alexi finishes his shoulder. He sits up and tests it as she puts away the tools. When Alexi says nothing, Zaine continues: "Thanks Alexi." "No need to thank me," she says and stands in the doorway. "C'mon, we gotta get off this planet." "Is the ship ready to fly?" Zaine asks, skeptical as they both head outside. --- "No kidding," Cyn says, powering off his PDA. "The ship's nearly functional again, but it wouldn't last long in the air if we took off now. We just need to buy ourselves some---" Alexi and Zaine walk out of the ship. "Heya! All fixed?" Zaine rolls his shoulder and pats his stomach. "All fixed. She's a miracle worker; I feel good as new." Alexi smiles. "Just take it easy there kid; don't wanna pull your stitching." |
| "Oh yay! Thanks for patching up Zaine Alexi!" Alan says with gratitude and approaches Alexi for a hug. Brink looks at Cyn a bit impatiently. "We need to be out of here by dusk, Cyn." |
| Alexi stiffens a bit at her approach, but hugs her anyway. "No problem Alan. It's just a part of what I do." Cyn nods to Brink. "Don't you think I know that? Repairs only happen so fast when you don't have the materials to do them. We're only about halfway to how she was, but we're almost to a point where we could fly her if we need to." "We just have to get a tad past that point," Alexi says. "Then we'll leave." He nods again. "I'm going to go inspect the repairs and help out." "About time. You're the one who built this in the first place; you repair her." Alexi starts to head back into the ship. "I'll be on the bridge if you need me." |
| "You both seem a bit uptight, maybe you should try and relax." Alan obliviously suggests to both Cyn and Alexi. Brink still continues to tamper with his PDA. "I'm going to fiddle with this. I'll be in my quarters." |
| With both Brink and Alexi gone, only Alan and Cyn remain standing outside the ship. The rest of the crew continues maintenance and carries out their duties. "Uptight is one way of putting it," Cyn says to Alan. He watches some of the crew moving a large crate back into the cargo hold. "You'd be the same if you were in our place." |
| "You have no idea what pressure I have in my place. I still find time to relax above it all. I think everyone has that ability." Alan reassures Cyn. |
| "True," Cyn says, slightly sympathetic. "I don't know if I could do what you have to." After a silence, Cyn says: "I made a promise to myself Alan, that the next time I ran into him, I'd kill him. He shouldn't exist." He looks at her, wanting her to understand. "I'm frustrated that I couldn't keep that promise; but I will. I will kill him." --- Alexi readjusts some of the controls on the console on the bridge, monitoring the ship's condition. She sighs and sits in the captain's chair. |
| "Wow. He must have done something pretty horrible. Yet again it doesn't take much to set you off. Hell, I'll help!" Alan giggles and puts an hand on his shoulder. "You'll get him.." -- Brink walks into the room nonchalant. "I have to say, the "outfit" thing caught me off guard, haha!" |
| "You have no idea..." Cyn says darkly. After a pause, he sighs and smiles. "Thanks Alan." --- Alexi shrugs. "You sayin' you didn't expect that from or didn't expect it in general?" |
| "Your welcome." Alan replies cheerfully. "You know Cyn, I know we don't always get along but, I'm always here for you. I know this is probably just "business" but, I feel really close to you all." She smiles a tad and looks at him with genuine care. -- Brink thinks on her question for a moment. "I guess I never really imagined you in a dress. You definitely put off the "I'm too much of a bad ass to act like a girly-girl" vibe. However, when I do imagine it, you look both incredibly beautiful and powerful. I guess it's a deadly mixture." He chuckles to himself. |
| Cyn stares at her a minute, stunned, then bursts out laughing. "Sorry, sorry." He stops laughing, though continues to chuckle a little. "I just didn't expect that." He becomes serious again. "The same goes for you Alan. I'm here for you, just like Alexi and Zaine are." --- Alexi giggles a bit and smiles at the comment. "Beautiful and powerful huh? I like the sound of that... Though I will correct you on one point." She holds up a finger for emphasis. "I'm hardly a bad ass. I'm more of a coward than anything else." |
| Alan gives him an awkward look and then starts laughing herself. -- "I seriously doubt that, captain." Brink moves closer to her. "Besides, being beautiful and powerful is being a bad ass." He giggles. |
| Cyn laughs with her. "I bet that sounded weird coming from me, huh?" Once he stops laughing, he sighs. "I'm going to go check on the crew's progress. Wanna come?" --- "If only you knew." She smiles at him. "And aren't you just the charmer." |
| Alan looks at him with excitement. "Sure! I've never had a crew before! It should be fun to watch!" She practically skips as she follows. -- "Eh, just a master degree." Brink exclaims as he plays off his modesty. "And your quite the catch." |
| Cyn walks around to the front of the ship, where the most damage occurred. There was a large hole in the siding, but the crew has patched up a significant part of it. At the moment, there are seven men all working around the hole, two patching the hole from scaffolding, two holding the material, and the remaining three stand around ready to hand up more supplies. One of the men on the ground, a dark haired, dark-skinned man with a considerable beard, walks over to Cyn as he sees him approach. "How goes it?" Cyn asks. The man gives a tiny salute before answering. "We're doing what we can, but we don't have enough to cover the entire hole." "Most of the supplies went to the undercarriage and the engine exhausts. Have you found anything suitable to use around here?" The man nods. "There was some metalized rock not too far from where we've landed. I sent out a group of men to harvest it and they've been bringin' some back every now and then." "You're doing good, Braig. At the rate you're going, you may have my job!" "I don't think I could handle the Captain though!" "It is an art," Cyn says. Both men laugh at this, sharing some inside joke. --- Alexi rolls her eyes and walks to the command console. "Sure am stud. But watch yourself," she says as she looks at the information on the screen. "To catch me you have to use just the right kind of bait otherwise I won't bite." She winks at him. "Now, what brings you to the bridge? Did you need somethin' or were you just wandering?" |
| Alan remains quiet, and stares at the crew members beard. "C-Can I touch it?" she whispers under her breath. "So fluffy." -- "No I'm fine. I was just wandering I guess. Trying to get a hold of headquarters." Brink leans back against the wall wearily. "And..I think I have the proper bait my dear. Might be too much for your small frame." He winks back. |
