| One of the saddest show's I've seen. Overall very very solid. Last arc on the island didn't really do it for me though. A lot of shows have a horrible tendency to introduce a sacrificial "band" of characters— but just barely develop one— while everyone else is a chariciature. The connection between Immo and March, vs Immo and Tonari is just so uncomparable. Tonari's connection to Immo is extremely negative from the get go (tricks them onto the wrong boat) and then her friend's deaths were completely preventable (they could have just left, which is what they were trying to do), and I don't really think anything said or done made up for it. All of the other parts I thought where very good and handled well. Based on how everything in the show is just, new character -> gets accustomed to them -> they die, I really think the current mindspace you're in is going to heavily weight on your "enjoyment" of the show. I say "enjoyment" in quotes, because while I thought it was good and I did techincally enjoy it, I found it really really sad. If it was any more sad and tragic, it just might flip over into comedy. definitely could be considered misery-porn, but I don't think it involves enough long-term suffering for me to consider it such. 8/10. |
