| 1st I thought it was meh but 2nd episode aI'm disappointed, I wanna Nanao fights that prick but the idiots intervenes and have to watch that bs and the worst part they canceled the second duel wtf And the rest it's about learning magic which I think none of the students learnt anything (or I feel like some of them already ahead so I kinda wonder what are they doing here ?) and at the end they got trapped in the chamberofsecrests labriynth and have to fight their senpais I'm not impressed, the show felt unoriginal and mediocre Btw can someone tell me (spoiler is fine) why is it called seven spellblades when the main characters are just six ?? Is there a seventh ? |

As for what students leaned: 1) They just stat through demonstration of what Sword Arts looked like so they get idea what focus on 2) They learned how handle silkworms and improve mama control. 3) We didn't see much of spellogy but short show the were learning how familiars work. This was all this very episode but somehow missed it to pointless complaint about stuff. Like school transforming into a dungeon bad, generic and filling you with outrage to make you made? Why do have problem with some of upperclassmen being hostile? How them being opposite be better when also not unique? This just a texrbook example of fishing for complaints and making oddly specific claims. The show clearly do any right for you so I don't know waste your time, if everything is generic just because it generic anyway. I went though this same crap with Re:Zero and it just as exhausting. |

| Wow the rating drop so much but i think this actually dope show. From ep1 to ep 2, it massive jump from 6 to 8. I kinda understand why tho. Nanao as main heroine seems really bad idea with her gozaru and samurai attitude. |
| I liked the op song, that's how fantasy anime openings should be. The show is not that bad, I can't still understand the bashing. Mashle was even more of an HP rip-off than this; well it was a parody, in any case (and a quite fun one). This anime has nice art, nice animation, average story (so far) and characters that can potentially develop. It's not that bad, I think. |

| I thought this episode was just ok as the storyline was a bit confusing and so far I'm not that interested in the characters. Nanao wanted to fight to the death with Oliver (why?) and she cries when Oliver said he won't fight her anymore. Katie hurts herself by not being able to burn a silkworm after its cocoon went black. And for some reason the entire school becomes haunted at night with older classmates seemingly preying on 1st years, luckily Pete has Oliver and Michela with him or he'd be a goner. Hoping all of this makes more sense down the road. |
| As someone who've been reading the novels since they came out, I'm very pleased with the adaptation so far. A few hickups here and there but there is clearly effort being put into this! |

| The visuals and fight scenes in the opening are the only thing that are holding my attention. Hoping the future fights looks as good as what's shown in the opening and less of what's shown during the sparing match. I do think I understand what they were going for with the crying bit but it was still pretty cringe. |

| BTW, I said how the Japan-based section of this fantasy world is still in warring era using sword and spear and such... in ep 1 thread. But apparently the European-based section of this fantasy world already had magic and fantasy creature and mage robes from 400+ years ago. So what was Japan-based section doing? lol The difference of culture development seems quite distant huh? lol (makes me wonder if the Japan-side of the world is doing the same as iRL Japan with closed-borders with next to no magic or fantasy creature, except apparently Michela's dad went in and saved Nanao out of no where in mid battlefield and scouted her for the European-based school...) This is evidenced by Nanao herself that she barely knows what magic is and is mostly just physical based. And her ideals is still stuck on "warring era" where fights till death is the honorable thing to do. The girl literally cries cause she was stopped from killing the MC... LOL (BTW, speaking of the dad... where's he? he isn't shown in the school, is he still out traveling the world? lol) . And then.... poor caterpillars... this is just like what they did to the trolls. Fantasy creatures are just toys to the Humans. Using and Killing them is a natural way of life. Where as this is reflected by Katie that she wants to treat the Fantasy creatures with more respect but she keeps on getting fucked over by other stuff (the troll was by someone that was "trolling"... but the hooded person is suggested to be MC's bodyguard in same hooded outfit... huh...) And this caterpillar was cause she got distracted by a random flower petal. I support Katie, cause imagine if todays world we're still using LIVE animals where you stab a giant nail into them while they're still alive and then cut them up slowly. Yea... that's what they're doing to the caterpillars. Forcing them to under go metamorphosis and if turned bad, they kill them. Also, MC is already doing his moves to get that Harem... . On the wiki page it mentions swords sometimes are used instead of athames, so a sword is not an athame. Though those swords are a little short so maybe it's close enough, im not sure what the limit on a dagger length is before it starts being considered a sword. |

| Decent OP and ED, the music and visuals are also good. I think the reason the first episode felt kinda off to me was the characters were already acting like a friend group before they even knew each other's names. Setting the awkwardness of the first episode aside, I'm really liking how seriously the show is taking itself when so many other magical school anime rely on comedy. Even just the relatively simple worldbuilding of "we wizards use swords to cover our main weakness" does a lot for me. However a lot of the character writing feels like it was written by a child, and the labyrinth taking over the school at night is pretty dumb though, I'm hoping there will be a logical explanation for that. |

All fiction embellish stuff like to serve the world-building and narrative interest so making things super accurate isn't a big deal. I'm not seeing how the character writing childish, the cast interact like any other normal 15 year old you read in many shounen style stories (setting differences aside). In fact I thought Oliver and Katie conversation was really nice and Oliver handled it well being empathic to her point viewpoint while making his own point clear how she will need to compromise a little if she is to get through Kimberly. Also I don't get how school transforming in labyrinth is ridiculous compared to any other fantasy concept like flying boats or people riding fire-breathing lizards. Like you avatar from a show where the characters put points in to cards to somehow learn skills and that part isn't meant for humor, its an actual thing. So why is the line suddenly drawn here, there way more dumb things happening other show like in Zom 100. The dungeon itself obviously is not just there for sake of it, without even going into LN specifics Michela mentioned in the anime they aren't read to be at school during the night atm, so from that context this hint that this will part of their curriculum to hone their magic later. | The first lesson in the magic academy: sword arts, under instructor Luther Garland, and Nanao's rumour has spread all around the school, enough for everyone to take notice. The upperclassman Richard Andrews is a bypasser during the troll incident, and Michela stands before him while Oliver and Nanao face each other as an example. But rightaway, Nanao proves her swordsmanship so intense that Oliver can't afford to give leeway towards her, though that triggers her past memories for a weebit. But it seems that when Nanao referred to her white-haired self, it is a case of two faces of her that Oliver can't seem to fend against. With the second lesson being spellology under professor Frances Gilchrist and magical biology under Vanessa Aldiss, it has all of the Hogwarts elements going for it, though this school is a testing ground for to see potentials this early. Michela easily revels through, though for Oliver to help Nanao and her to help with Katie and Pete. For Katie, she's doing this slowly, though she prioritizes saving lives than actually making results, as a result of her family's upbringing. It's clear that her upbringing, met with the reality in Kimberly is clashing, through Oliver encourages her to see things through, not alone. As expected, Castre comes finding Oliver to report that she's going to leave him to his own devices, it's for a while. For Oliver, Michela and Pete to get stuck in the school's dungeon, facing 4th Year Orphelia Salvadori and her research, she's danger as a succubus. And if that's not enough, the 5th Year Cyrus Rivermoore comes surrounding the 3 of them. Trouble brews at Kimberly this early, though it's no perchance of survival. |

It's just how the current world works, you can try to argue with the government or social media that "age matters" but it won't change, "appearances first" . So yea, these guys looking like 30~40 years old just doesn't really fit the school setting. |
