For those disappointed by Texhnolyze, why?

Texhnolyze had a clear point, and was way more effective to deliver it, without using fancy quotes just for the sake of it.

It was coherent, from beginning to end, and left me a real punch in the stomach, just by staying simple.

I don't agree with its message, but I do admire how it was presented.

With that cleared up, I'll give my answer: that's all it had to offer. You can slap "deep" themes in any show, but that doesn't make it good. What about characters, plot, pacing,art style, tension, climax etc? They were either bad or left way more to be desired. Look through this comment section and you'll find evidence of this

Probably because it's a very slow paced and atmospheric work. Frankly it's just not for everyone, it honestly doesn't even feels like it was made for a whole lot of people. I utterly adored the show, from the opening moments to the very end I was entranced by the way it develops its story by the degradation of the environment, and the way the city mirrors the decay of the last living humans- but it's a show that has a fairly high degree of commitment for how "little" it would give for the average viewer to watch. IMO Texhnolyze didn't need anything else at all, since it was so heavily character driven with Ichise being such a compelling driving force in the story, and his development into a caring human only for the cold, inevitable end of mankind to be ushered in; but I know that might just be my individual bias speaking.
