Another incredible episode of the second best anime of the season, in the manga Choji's monologue was beautiful and the anime brought the vibe and all the emotional charge, And in the end Umemiya is a god.

Animation is great but jeez this story is so bad. I'm having a hard time taking it seriously when it amounts to a bunch of 14-16 year olds having a ton of angst over what amounts to not much really, even within universe.

Ume literally tanked all those hits and hit him with the talk no jutsu/therapy session and what was the guys problem? It wasn't that one of his family members got murdered or shot, not severe bullying, not being an orphan raised by neglectful foster parents...no, he just wasn't having fun anymore beating the shit out of people because he got too strong, so instead of looking for other things to have fun with, he had a psychological breakdown for the last year or two and basically turned his friend group into a toxic waste pit, it's just so stupid.
@TrueUchiha This sums it up well. It's not like the show was subtle that it's street fighting for Justice and this isn't out of place with that, but it was poorly done. So much drama for so little payoff is cheesy and boring. At least keep the fight animation running during the talking to keep some interest. Also would have been nice for the boss to have some skill beyond idealism and hitting hard.

The author is trying to explain a more profound point to the audience than the fights, he is showing the difference between people fighting for each other and those who fight for themselves.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

I have mixed feelings over the final fight between the leaders as it felt like it dragged on a bit too much with Choji flashbacks but it was still mostly entertaining.

Now with 4 episodes remaining I wonder what they will do as this episode itself also felt like it could've been a finale.

Been hyped to see Umemiya vs Choji for weeks and I’ll be honest man I’m kinda disappointed with how the fight went I really wanted to see Umemiya throw a bunch of punches with a bunch of sakuga scenes but nah we mostly got fresh scenes with Choji being a gymnast and flipping all over the place while throwing punches which was cool itself but i wanted to see more of Umemiya since he’s always hyped up to be the strongest by everyone that mentions him😕

I think this was a little too cheesy for me choji just went through a depressive phase all bc he got too strong and his teammates weren’t then Umemiya hit him with the talk no jutsu like I felt the story and the music was a great touch as well but when you summarized the entire episode it sounds really funny and edgy💀💀

Overall great arc I think the highlight for me had to be Sakura vs Togame I think that was the best fight since both parties were throwing punches like no fucking tmr, definitely Sakura and Suo had the best fights😭🔥🔥🔥

Umemiya funny asf tho for not wanting Shishitoren bro already has enough kids on his hands to deal with💀😭
I wonder what the next arc is gonna be about and I wonder who’s gonna be the next new enemy they have to face👀

@ejleon Well, yeah. Obviously. "Profound"? Really? How many times have you seen the same shit in anime done before? And done way better. Garbage drama, cringe behavior and stupid, done to death, "let's be friends" bullshit.

So are you saying that you only like when anime characters hate each other and are at each others throats, never making peace with each other?

It was not the best writing, but nothing in the anime was “garbage” or “cringe”, and the “let’s be friends” was only suggested after the Lion’s Head lost their fights, because the Furin leader didn’t want to take over the group.

Man they really talk things out through the fist, huh? That bite on the neck honestly caught me off guard lmao. Little dude really likes Gojou that much, huh? But at the end of the day, its all just a big misunderstanding. Choji realized he's a pain in the ass, idiot leader, trying to solve his gang into Bofurin and get the hella out of those place. But Gojou reject it in style!

I don't think this is a satisfying finisher. But at least there's an end to the fight, which kinda open a lot of possibility for the next installment. Either its receive the better reception, its up for the next story to comes up first to decide.

So let's just see the next week!

y'all were too quick to designate this as a TR killer. Both are cringe but at least TR had an interesting plot, the mc had a goal that actually had conviction, and it had decent mystery elements as well. The only things this has over TR is that the mc isn't a pathetic crybaby punching bag, along with better fight animation+ choreography.

But that scene of Ume letting Choji wail on him (that feral dog bite too wtf? lmao) "to let it all out" was eye-roll inducing to say the least. It would have been better if he pulled a Naruto. Beat his ass, then have a heart to heart following that to win him over.

It was good that this outcome took him and Lion's head on a less destructive trajectory, but the execution was ass, no two ways about it

This episode was awful. Giving us some emotional back story on a guy who, up to this point, has had brief screen time either yapping and fidgeting like a 10 year old who just drank an entire gallon of Mountain Dew, or beating up his own teammates who were already injured from losing a fight. And the back story itself sure was something. He was a good guy, but simply forgot he used to have fun with his friends? So, the power of remembering he had friendship turned him from a rabid animal biting a dudes neck to a pretty cool chap. It is a good thing this series has a great OST, art and animation, because the rest is just awful. Well, the initial 2 or 3 episodes were solid.

Since everyone keeps comparing to TR, I've only saw the first season of TR, but it is worlds better than this. People distracted by the shiny packaging here.

Ngl Tobiyama is a lame ass character. There is literally nothing interesting about him and his long ass inner monologue therapy session was boring asf. Also Umemiya as a character is pretty disappointing so far. He let himself get pummeled and bitten on the fucking neck for the sole purpose of fueling his talk no jutsu bullshit. I wish the fight was longer so half the episode would not be such a snooze fest.

I agree. I'm glad someone else can see it. the neck bite was very cringe but I really liked this episode for the most part. Ume is a tank and honestly, a great leader. I've come to have some respect for him because of this episode. Choji is basically a nihilist tbh, in my opinion. the only thing is I wish there could have been a bit more of the fighting because I was really looking forward to it, but maybe we'll get to see Ume in action in the future. I also think that Choji's right hand guy (don't remember his name, Kame or something) sees Choji like a little brother, or at least that's the vibe I was getting. I was surprised when I read people saying it was like BL. I never got that vibe, personally. I really liked the symbolism with the glass. I felt like this episode was wholesome but underwhelming due to the build up and anticipation for action. The dynamic shift from the previous episodes to this one felt kind of abrupt. I loved the fight with Sakura and the 2nd hand guy. it was a perfect blend of fighting and backstory/realization/reflection. still, I gotta say, Ume is one tough dude, physically and mentally. the fact that he deliberately just took most of it without fighting back. I think people underestimate what happens to the other person psychologically when you don't fight back and love on them instead. it really gets to them in a way that's extremely difficult to ignore (unless they've been suppressing their humanity long enough)

At first I didn't know how this was inspired by Tokyo Revengers since this was about a dude that actually likes fighting and want to fight his way to the top Crows Zero style but nah, it wasn't about that, just some boring teen drama. That can be done well but I really don't care about any fo these characters, dropped.

boring fucking episode. who tf gave a singular fuck about choji or his sufering? no one cared at all? how can you expect to care when viewers werent't made to care about choji at all? if the backstory was of anyone from bofurin everyone would care and even if we leave that the way togame was handled was much much better, at least they made us care about him.

and they dedicated an entire episode to this shit. well at least this arc is over.

1/5 literally.

This episode had a lot of emotions and a happy ending so what can I ask for more?
Umemiya really deserves to be the leader of Bofurin; man, hands down.
I'm in tears when Choji and Togame apologized to each other but very happy when Ume told them to be friends instead of accepting all of Shishitoren, and to consider such event like a get-together party. What a beautiful wrap up and to end the fights.
Been a while that I got this hyped and exhilarated about a fighting anime so I'm really grateful for this anime's existence, seriously. Kinda sad this only have four more episodes to go, I wanted more...

I feel like this show rushed through things too much. Like I get what the little manlet's story was about, but I couldn't really get attached when we barely knew him, we only scratched the surface of his struggles, and the depth of his issues were only fully explored as lengthy dumps in this episode. His team as a whole barely did anything, and when they did, they completely jobbed. So they never felt like a threat.

I'm fine with the story being fairly standard, but I wish more time was devoted to building up Shishitoren as worthy adversaries, and building up the tourney opponents before we fought them. Only the glasses guy really shined. I don't give a crap about Diarrhea-kun's middle school friend, who turned evil and had his entire narrative arc dumped on us over the course of like one episode. I don't want to compare this show to Tokyo Revengers, especially since it has its own pacing issues. But that show spent time building up the threats and stories, so the payoff was more satisfying.

Most anime in my experience don’t have any point to them, and there are only a relative few that have a message in their story for the audience.

@ejleon I am saying that it was overdramatized in literally every aspect. From character's backstory to his behavior. And after several beatings concluded in friendship. Not the best writing? More like pathetic. But, you are free to disagree. Just like 90% of posts here are disagreeing with your opinion.
