@Guilmon1 I get that, and thanks for clarifying it. I posted my plot concerns about the prior episode and was enlightened about the source and anime differences so I gave it another episode. Yes, it’s not my cup of tea and I’m gone, which is unfortunate because I like the character design and overall quirkiness. However the prior poster suggested I don’t know sci-fi, which is absurd. This show is a human interest story (and I guess alien now) primarily between the two girls shrouded in a sci-fi setting. It’s a genre I typically like but the stupid plot got in the way of the story.
@nhkam Why is it stupid? The characters are quite human. They do all sorts of things. They are very similar to people in real life.
Earlier, you wondered why they don't make contact with the aliens (I guess).
Maybe the reason is that the aliens who arrived are refugees with limited control over their technology, and only a few of them know how to operate it? Like in District 9?

One more thing: Doesn't it bother you that Earthlings have built lasers, AI-controlled robots, and other such things? Maybe contact has already been established with Earthlings, or maybe they've infiltrated them. But not the guys from the refugee ship—others, more advanced ones.
It's also possible that the Earthlings understood who they were dealing with after capturing and interrogating the first surviving aliens. They went in and requisitioned the necessary technology. The refugee aliens themselves are a useless burden, so the Earthlings are getting rid of them.
They don't shoot down the carrier ship itself so that it doesn't fall on the city.

Finally, the aliens need to make contact. They're the ones who are dying. The Earthlings are fine with it. Technology is falling from the sky, and its owners are useless and can't defend themselves.
Also, check out the ship at ~13:05. It's an upside-down teapot! I think it's a nod to the Russell's Teapot.
