So dangers in my heart had a quirky characters? why not this one? Yamada was a cute girl that was a little aloof and was also a foody while Kyoutarou was a quiet kid spiteful dude. Wow! I really wonder how these 2 are going to interact what is this pairing! Oh whats that? This cute aloof girl actually unlucks a soft spot in bro and through every interaction they get closer and closer? And the interactions feel natural and heartfelt and are not handed to us and being told "like our relationship a cute moment just happened" like this anime?

Don't know where you got me being an action fan when clearly other romance anime Even in this season are doing a better job at being engaging. There was some people in this thread that bought up interesting points that I didnt even consider but you're just one of the blinded ones unfortunately

This show is as close as it gets to being pure vanilla. No, you won't get something similar with the Dangers in My Heart or My Dress up Darling. The whole thing about Rintaro and Kaoruko apologizing to each other is kind of a main thing here, so no, you won't see less of it (at least not in this season).

I'd say it's best for you to drop it already because judging from how you react to these past 4 episodes, things aren't going to get better for you.

This anime is probably the most typical shoujo ever) Look at this or this or this or this examples, do you see a common pattern? The love interest is always a tall, "pretty guy" with mostly blond hair. And it's always either a story about a prince who saves the heroine or a story about a heroine who "I can fix him")) And that's exactly what appeals to young girls very well. Whereas the main character of rom-coms that appeals to boys is almost always some "average" guy like in dangers in my heart for example.

@dixoncider8142 It's a story that builds from not knowing each other to becoming friends to a romantic relationship. In the anime, Rintaro and Waguri are friends now. Rintaro is already starting to feel romantic emotions towards Waguri.

That you don't notice this kind of character build up is a you problem.

@Infernalization ik that lol, I'm pretty sure it's obvious to everyone with a brain that they'll be friends and end up as a couple. I've never seen a romance anime, where the characters not know each other and date... hold up that's tonikawa lol. but anyway point is that it has that traditional romance anime aspect which I like it does feel like an anime from the 2000s being adapted today but in terms of "the relationship cooking", that quote kinda made me cringe, becoming friends is something that I'm already expecting. for me is more like who will be the first one to make a move, who will be the first one to confess, basically stuff like that. so far there's barely any progress made. I'm not expecting it to either since we're in the 4th episode. Like I said, I've seen a lot of romance anime and yeah, they all took around 24-36 episodes to confess. I just find the dialogue very bad and some interactions are very dry and boring.

I can tell you that it's so not geared towards girls. I gave this anime a chance because there's so much hype about it but from the get-go, you can tell that it is, in fact, written for boys. The fl is very cutesy but different from other girls "cause she loves eating" and on top of that, she acts extremely unrealistically in the very first episode where she's literally being cornered by two dudes in the dead of the night and instead of trying to protect herself she defends the ml whom she has talked to just once. Like, that's not how it works?? (And I know it's an anime and it's not supposed to be realistic yada yada but that scene grinded my gears like nothing else). And that in itself sets the tone: the fl is written to be solely the "love interest", the only one who understands the ml etc. without any defining characteristics of her own (maybe she gets them later on but so far she's very bland and stereotypical for shounen) So no, it's not geared towards girls, it's actually geared towards the kind of boys who don't like the vulgarity of stuff like Rent-a-Girlfriend.

Like waiting 20 minutes for an episode to then justify that time watched gotta be the most miserable shi watching an anime man. And ive sat through some anime that bumfuck nothing happens but ATLEAST IT WAS INTERESTING THINGS GOING ON. THERES NOTHING INTERESTING HERE. ITS EPISODE 4. There was like 1 scene where they had a cute moment but it was so like OK I felt nothing from it. Idk surely its gets better in ep5 right RIGHT?!?!?! It was only ep1 let it cook And im still left with the same feelings.

Ok done rambling just curious if anyone is having this ongoing dilemma with this anime. Im finna go watch Bad girl Now

I feel the same. The whole Romeo and Juliet bs with the two schools is so stupid but the anime makes it feel like we're supposed to take it seriously and it's just very...annoying. I couldn't sit through the 4th episode because I couldn't take it seriously at all lol. And it feels a copout to use such a dumb idea as a plot point to put "obstacles" in the way of the main characters. Like they could've gone with anything else but this is what they chose??

I think you should drop this anime. It's already pretty absurd, overdone, and bland, plus judging by the comments, the pace won't change. Why bother? There are better anime out there.

The anime is well paced but it’s only animating a couple chapters. The first two episodes only had one chapter for each episode animated, so in that respect it will feel slow because it’s only one chapters worth of content but to be honest you’ll have a hard time finding a show that isn’t paced like this in the romance genre. The problems you have with the show are ironed out in the manga fairly quickly but again the series is only about 6 chapters in, the development of the relationship, and engaging moments aren’t there yet because the main group hasn’t even been established yet, although that will be soon

so liking monogatari means I like good writing and clever directing styles rather than bs plot points that gaslight me into thinking I should be invested in this? yea ok buddy.

But i re evaluated and I might just drop for now until the anime finishes and maybe ill finish it. But your anime has issues. dont act like it doesnt.

@Dellio_man I'm completely with you on this one. It's super overhyped, the plot is pretty boring and formulaic, the characters are plain (except for Subaru), and the show as a whole is one big romance cliche. And I'm being polite here (not as polite as these guys constantly saying gomen, arigatou, kochira koso and so on). Check out Horimiya, it's a much more mature anime with totally different tropes and plot devices. Also, Gimai Seikatsu.

To guys who draw Demon Slayer parallels, all I see is Toradora if Taiga was yandere :P same intimidating male MC, same chiisai female lead, same tropes except Toradora had some real-life issues interwoven. The petty issues and hurdles characters have in Kaoru are superficial and exaggerated. Everything is pre-chewed and oversimplified... I can't fathom how this has 8.7 on MAL... really... what's wrong with the world...

I'm watching primarily for the sakuga. I think as long as it doesn't have Zenitsu-tier dialogue and the quality doesn't fall off, I should be very happy with this adaptation.

A lot of people here are shitting on you, but you are right, the show drags too much and everyone is too sugary and sweet, they all all perfect and all of the conflicts are elementary school lvl. There's a LOT of bad, and idiotically unrealistic things in this show. If you expect to get better it won't sadly, and if you cant stand it drop it, you won't miss anything that you haven't seen already in similar shows.

Now for all those who will shit on me too for being critical towards the show, I actually quite enjoy and like it but all of you need to be real and objective, this show isn't that great and is a 5 at best. The one thing where it is great is the art and in manipulating feelings making you fuzzy and emotional. But that's like 90% of romance anime shows so, even then, it's not so different than most.

Still better than Rent-a-Girlfriend.

Imagine expecting spicy stuff from a slow burn romance with highschoolers.
If you're looking for spicy time go watch Domestic GF instead, you only need 1 episode to get your craving, and you can get the same every other episode. A certified quality anime.

My guy im 100% older than you. Doesn't the toradora rating kinda prove that?? You waguri fans i swear man. I have dropped this anime and i havnt looked back since 😭🙏. Its not that deep bro the shi was mid as hell.

And btw Toradora is a 10 because they have an interesting and enjoyable character dynamic. Y'know something i feel waguri fans dont even consider bc they are too busy watching tiktok edits of the 2 rather than watching the anime at 1x speed 💀. Ryuji actually has problems and issues with his home life, unlike rintaros, "Woah is me" persona because he looks scary. Which is his 1 character trait too lol. And waguri is the most forgettable Heroine i think I've seen in anime bro. Unlike taiga, which she makes a stance for herself in being combative and stuck up in a way. Not necessarily good qualities, but there is substance to her character and it makes sense within the story. Not this Romeo and Juliette bullshit they pulled in this anime.
