Good episode. Intense fight, but did anyone really die? Many got hurt but there were a lot of last second saves. Didn't expect that after episode 1 death count.

King may be crazy, but totally respectable guy worthy of the title. Tatsuya was also MVP.

I was delighted seeing the priest guy humbled. F off dude! Was getting sick of his arrogant smirk all the time.

Knights showed up but AS USUAL did abso-fuckin-lutely NOTHING! It's beyond pathetic at this point. Miners with enchanted tools did more than Kivia and her trash knights. Were they this f-ing useless in the novels too, I wonder? I mean, they came to help but Xylo ended up saving their asses almost immediately after.

Number of people, including Kivia look at heroes positively now.

Glad for that girl her dad was one of the few who returned.

Amazing ep

Xylo, His Majesty, and Tatsuya really did an amazing job carrying the group.

Clutch save by Teoritta.

Love how Xylo wants Teoritta to think for herself, even if she herself wants to be used by Xylo for protection.

Ngl, when I first saw His Majesty, I thought bro would continue to pretend that he's a king and be useless. Then, in ep2, he's enhancing tools for the (his) men, and in ep3, he sacrifices his leg and (pretend) honor as a king to "actually" do something king-like, which is to fight with his men. Truly a real definition of a king. Bro arguably my favorite character already.

Those townspeople still fake asl, but thankfully the little girl and her family were real ones to thank them.

Looks like Teoritta finally got her praise and thankfully Kivia locked in for once, and stopped that fraudulent priest from unjustly punishing them for nothing.

The staff on this definitely looked troublesome, but it still got the job done. Animation was great and effects were glorious, especially the blue flames. Quite scared for what happened to the production, if there is alr sum hiccups, tho I feel that staff was able to pull thru.

10/10

The anime started with a bang 9/10

then episode 2 came out 8/10

by this episode, episode 3 it's 7/10 to me

I just don't like the monsters Skittles design it's very out of theme and the characters are quite very predictable....

if episode 4 continues the same things I'd drop it
@king3580
Totally agree.
This is a generic and uninteresting fantasy slop which had an interesting but not-mattering set dressing and a really good first episode, but it is starting to show its real colors.

The show's source material is on 6.6 on MAL, there is nothing of note behind this story, no good characters, Worldbuilding or story, only a well-animated first episode, but otherwise this is empty, and will get worse and worse.

The people who are still glazing the show, are the exact same kinds who were coping under the Lazarus forum, which was another shit show, but a few still tried to believe that it is good or will get better.

Holy shit! Tatsuya and Norgalle character moment are amazing, Norgalle especially, even if it just delusion, his personality and character is true enough to inspire those around him and himself

The episode isn't complete without Teoritta adorable antics, such a gaki.
@Mainnus I wouldn't be surprised given that Xylo got framed/falsely accused if Norgalle is actually not lying about being a king.

Wait so is this going to be a Thursday show going forward? I thought this was Saturday.
@Marinate1016 It was always a Thursday show, the first episode had a weird slightly early air date, and then after that they aired it on the "normal" Thursday time going forward from Ep2.

Yea I know they started doing Thursday after that premiere, but I didn’t know if that were permanent or not. Sucks since Thursday is so stacked.

@Sigmar-Unberogen Yes, the miners said they killed some of their companions who were infected. Now, if someone had actually died, maybe yes, but the anime didn't show that, so I guess not.

As for the knights, that was really a mistake by the anime.
The knights should have had at least one or two scenes cutting some of the demon king's roots, but the anime didn't show those scenes to focus on the heroes' fight against the demon king.

@fenrirr2 The Light Novel, which is the original, doesn't have a rating on MyAnimeList.
Besides, what does lazarus have to do with Sentenced... where did that comparison come from? lol

Unfortunately it looks stupid. Like, knights seem to be elite forces with best gear (certainly better than levy troops we saw charging the enemy with spears in ep1), but they're basically stormtroopers from star wars. May look cool but absolutely useless and die just as easily.

@Sigmar-Unberogen I'm not talking about that, but rather the fact that the anime didn't show them acting in that episode.

As for what you said, there is justification for it, and it was already given in episode 1 when Xylo says he doesn't know the Kivia platoon, meaning they are a new unit.
Furthermore, the knights are obviously numerous pawns, if each of them were like Xylo, the Demon King would have been killed a long time ago...

New unit or not, they should perform better than regular fodder troops. Unless their gear is from TEMU, and unless they make knights out of nobodies, there's no excuse to such poor performance. If they're "numerous pawns" it makes little sense to give them fancy gear. This may be anime-only thing, but if it sucks, it sucks.

No one says that. The problem here is, we're yet to see a single knight who's stronger or more competent than heroes. Dotta doesn't count lol.

Judging by OP, we'll see a couple more heroes. One with dragon-thing, another with a sniper rifle or something. Hopefully there'll be someone "cool" from non-hero side too.

@Sigmar-Unberogen Regarding your first paragraph, yes, there is justification regarding the equipment, but the justification for the power disparity between ordinary knights and heroes has already been given, and they aren't bad.
It's simple:
Xylo is an exception.
Tatsuya is practically a living dead man.
Norgalle has knowledge of seals.
Vanetim only has his silver tongue
Dotta has good eyesight.
Each of them is special in a certain way, unlike knights who are simply pawns with some seals. And I haven't even mentioned the heroes who will appear in the future.

As for your second paragraph, the anime's name is Sentenced to be a Hero; it's obvious that heroes will be the focus. However, due to original elements of the anime, I can't say for sure that there won't be above-average holy knights besides Kivia in the anime.

Great episode. High-quality animation aside, the art style is gorgeous and unique. The character movement, vibrant colors, explosions and sound design are all top-notch.

It looks like the show will keep this level of quality throughout the season. Can't wait for next week.

Very nice end to the first arc of the show, I guess if you don’t count episode 1 which was pretty much its own arc too lol. Norgalle was definitely the MVP here, I already really liked him from his morale boosting speeches to the miners, but then came his moment of greatness near the end of the battle with Lotus, this man was MAD lol, but he really channeled that energy into doing some awesome stuff in battle with that flamethrower and then cutting off his own leg to get a decisive blow in, just really badass stuff, he’s the real king as far as I’m concerned lol.

And let’s not forget Xylo and Tatsuya were also awesome, I really liked their teamwork in the early stages of the fight, then later with Tatsuya’s buff mode, those were some anchor arms if I’ve ever seen ‘em lol. And Teoritta ended up joining the fight like I figured she would, no way could she sit still at a time like that, and she came in clutch a good amount of times, like supplying Xylo with ammunition (swords lol) and saving them when she first appeared, Xylo may be resistant to using her in battle but I’m glad Teoritta figured him out and is as stubborn as he is, they’re a great pair in that regard honestly. And it was nice seeing the Foreman reunited with his family, and he was one of the first instances the heroes got thanked, you could tell that’s not something Xylo is used to hearing, of course Teoritta ate it up tho lol, very nice scene to end on.

And no ED still, I wonder if this show will have one or not, I’d like it if there was one but more time for content isn’t a bad thing. And lastly, nice to see the production has been very consistent going into episode 3, lots of beautifully animated scenes, can’t wait to see what else they’ve got cooking up for this show.

Still not getting why these people hate these guys. They all just had their lives saved and yet their families are like "but aren't they criminals?" Huh? That's what you are focused on? Same with the knights who see these church guys are useless rats. It's coming off as a little too forced. Same with him trying to keep the goddess away. "Oh but you could get hurt" Isn't that a given for someone fighting on the front lines? I realize he had a bad experience but that doesn't mean it ill happen again.

The people in the setting have been subjected to propaganda about the "heroes" being terrible, vicious criminals their whole lives, and most have probably never knowingly interacted with one until now. Even if they see one or two do something good, they'll think it's just an outlier since decades of propaganda are pretty hard to deprogram.

It's hard to call it unrealistic when the exact same dynamic is currently playing out in the contemporary U.S. (and, tbh, such parallels would be present for any time or place where groups were wrongfully demonized with the full propaganda apparatus of the ruling class), even though it correctly looks illogical from the viewers' perspective.

As for the part about the goddess getting hurt--it remains to be seen, but from these few episodes I get the impression she has a finite amount of power, and the moment she runs out she'll be vulnerable to corruption. In the first episode, he only started calling on her to help once it was needed to finish off the demon lord. He's probably worried that letting her do anything too early could leave her without enough power for a crucial moment like that. I also wonder if maybe the goddess' power is irrechargably finite to some degree, which would make him even more hesitant to let her join the battle.

I am loving the action but I want more from the writing. I do like how the heroes have such a raw deal no one trusts them despite the shit they go through. I love our main cast so far. It's funny how deluded King is to a point you can buy him as a king as he really puts his body on the lie helping people.

GLORY TO THE KING!

What an amazing episode! Im really loving His Majesty Nogalle's character, he seems delusional but he really cares for his people.
I like how each of the heroes contributed to win that fight.

As always these Faeries are looking disgusting af, when the Demon King Lotus opened its mouth (in the humanoid part)– that was creepy.

Lore Update! (?)

So I take the "Luminescence" is what the Mana of this world is– and it seems like, people and objects have it naturally and it's stronger under the sun? Probably because natural light (from the Sun) could be the main source of that.
Another thing is they mentioned that Nogalle went to the repair shop, what made me curious is that "he'll probably get a new part from someone else"... does that mean a hero could be a combination of individual parts of a person!? It was also weird that Nogalle called out to "Nogalle" as if referring to him in second person, very interesting.

Glad that someone finally recognized Xylo and the others, there's hope for these people.

His Majesty is genuinely determined to protect what he believes are his loyal subjects. Even if he’s completely delusional, there’s something weirdly admirable about how committed he is to it. The guy really believes he’s a king with a duty to his people, and he acts like it, no matter how insane the situation gets.

Also, cutting off his own leg was absolutely hardcore. That was brutal, and I honestly didn’t expect the show to go that far so early. It made him feel a lot more intimidating and capable than just a comic relief “delusional noble” type, and I respect him more after this episode, even if he’s still clearly not all there.

It was also nice seeing the heroes actually get some praise for once. In a world where it feels like they’re constantly being treated as disposable tools, even a small moment of recognition hits different.

I had a feeling that Teoritta was going to find a way back to Xylo and she did.

Norgalle's heroic actions chopping off his own foot to help save the civilians was pretty epic. Kivia is starting to see that maybe Xylo is not as bad as he was made out to be.

Xylo and Teoritta's relationship is still the same tho she can see through his attempts to keep his distance from her to protect her. Which I do think is the case more or less, plus what has happened to him has made him jaded to the whole situation and I'm sure he doesn't want to drag her into his ultimate plan. I wonder if there will ever be a point where he accepts her and they work more closely together. Probably towards the end of the season.

Weird thing to say but Im getting tired of the action. I hope with this part done we can get some proper worldbuilding and character developement next.

Xilo is really just kinda annoying with his constant attitude.

Teoritta is of course best girl, but the best character is by far "King" Norgalle. I thought this last ep already but this made it crystal clear.
With the small moment of developement from his I suspect he was a previous guard to let the king die and thats why he got punished? (Because "I will save you this time Norgalle")

The bratty useless knight captain starts to warm up to the heroes huh?

@Conflagr8 No, it has nothing to do with "propaganda" Let's imagine that an individual who committed such a serious crime that he doesn't even deserve death appears in front of you... I would immediately look away and run. That's natural, not "propaganda."

Besides, with only three episodes, the anime still has a lot to reveal about the heroes, so don't draw shallow conclusions based on your personal opinion.
