that's Kouki Fujimoto for you. If you don't know who that is, you can look up his works on Youtube. You'll find a MAD made specifically for his works. This episode is solo key animated by him.

Higuruma giving Nanami vibes working in a professional setting and his desire to help others. Plus, becoming cynical later. And I think Sugita as seiyuu is an awesome pick.

This episode was too good.

I haven’t read the manga so I’m unfamiliar with Higuruma, but I really enjoyed this episode. His backstory with how fucked the legal system is and being a good guy ground down by it was excellent. Also Reggie idk who you are but please keep wearing that Drag Race design challenge outfit and flipping your hair. Obsessed.

As an avid JJK hater I have to admit this episode was very good the lawyer part was brilliantly directed, id love to see a whole law anime with that same style tbh. Also got some actual plot and monologuing outside of the lawyer part which was actually rather compelling. Probably the best episode since ep 13 of the last season. I moved my rating up from a 6 to an 8 hopefully it can keep this up.

@KiliianSleipnir Sukuna didn't like Mahito's DE, because it touched his soul. He's fine with every other one.
Imagine normies saying: "Peaky Blinders is mid and overhyped. Just another typical crime drama show. Breaking Bad is much better.". Or: "Without action choreography no one would've cared about John Wick. Kingsman, on the other hand, is not like other action franchises!".

@Deiki-kun I suspect some people don't even watch the episodes just come in, give one, and leave just to lower the rating. XD It's stupid, but among anime fans, this kind of behavior is nothing new.

The 99.9 conviction rate is smth I learned from this j drama called “Antihero”. It’s a rly good show, the main character rly reminded me of kenjiro tsuda in terms of looks and voice.

Great ep

Character acting, animation, drawings, color use looked amazing as they presented Higuruma's intro.

Higuruma just wants real justice for his clients.

Damn, maybe bro's giving his clients too much false hope.

Love how Itadori stays to himself, never letting the world control how he acts.

Oohhhh, the Zenin in Megumi was abt to come out of him when he learned that Remi lied.

Hopefully I can enjoy Higuruma vs Itadori better in the anime than the manga.

This ep adapted ch 159, the two pages of 162, 163, the first two pages of 164, and the Kenjaku portion from 167.

9.5/10

Welcome to modern anime landscape where not having a single face drawn when character are just over 3 meter from the camera is apparently considered as "the pinnacle of animation and visual in the entire history of the medium". A bunch of sheeps sucking off a bunch of hacks lmao, at least Yuji beating the bullies moved really nicely.

There is SO MUCH time spent on each and every new character being introduced I feel like we're still at the very start of the arc but actually we're at ep8 out of 12 of the first cour, this is one of the weirdest pacing I've ever witnessed. Not like those characters aren't interesting but it is FAR too late to introduce so many new faces at this point of the story and this is just a consequence of Shibuya's completely dumb idea of just killing/writing off 2/3rd of the main cast for no reason other than shock value.
Hakari was properly introduced just last episode and the plot just forgets about him because he'll get his fight later, same for Kashimo who'll just be relevant later, then why the fuck introducing them before? We're just jumping location and point of view left and right making the whole confusing as hell (confusing not in the sense it's hard to understand, confusing in the sense it's hard to tell what should the audience even care and focus on in priority). In the end, the point of all of this is to give background to big shonen fights but that's a lot of extra effort for characters that do not seem that important in the current plan to stop Kenjaku. If Higuruma just fucks off from the plot after 12 minutes of flashback justifying his fight I will laugh until oblivion.

Ngl everything is functionning and efficient for what it is but building up all that drama on the flaws of japanese justice system just because you needed an aura farmer character with Sugibro's voice to fight your hero is quite meaningless and frankly pathetic. This just REEKS of fujo and yume pandering.

This season is by far the best JJK season when it comes to directing and art direction, you can just feel the artistic vision of the staff oozing from every frame and its really brilliant to see! I was really curious to see how Goshozono would handle Higuruma's introduction and I'm very glad to see that not only he did not disappoint, but he in fact knocked it out of the park!

I'm willing to bet it's rotoscoping, hard to dispute the character drawings otherwise. especially that bully scene. or else we just deny 100M is not rotoscoped and animators can also animate like that without video reference

It's absurd how much more naunced and interesting Higurama's backstory is to the rest of Jujutsu Kaisen, especially when it is adapted so brilliantly by MAPPA's A-team. The fact that Gege Akutami can write characters and narratives with this much nuance and subtext but instead triples-down on the more standard shounen tropes never fails to dissapoint me. Although, what else do you expect from a series literally titled 'Sorcery Fight'.

Critcism of the source material aside, that backstory was better than it was in the manga and expanded upon in all the right ways. I was especially impressed by the OST usage, which is proving to be one of the most underrated aspects of this adaptation. 5/5

This was probably the episode where I realised how much weaker this series will be without Shōta Goshozono, if the rumours/leaks are to be believed. Despite my problems with JJK's overall narrative and writing, it's many idiosyncrasies are enhanced tenfold when paired with an equally idiosyncratic (and talented) director. It was a miracle that MAPPA found a more fitting director for JJK after Sunghoo Park left, especially this far into the series lifespan where it's identity, brand and level of quality has been more or less established. No hate toward whoever takes charge of the series going forward, but I'm not sure they'll be able to surpass one of the most visually stunning shounen adaptations ever.

Absolute cinema. The music and direction in this episode were amazing, even by season 3 standards. The soundtrack for the sequence for when Yuji meets Higuruma and Megumi is talking about the culling game gave me chills. I've been so excited to see Higuruma I can't wait to see more of him

I figured that bomb from the OP visuals was gonna mean something, so Kenjaku is gonna drop an actual bomb? If so, that’s pretty metal and honestly better than the initial idea that he was simply using the cursed energy of sorcerers for the ritual, but I’m not sure what the bomb is necessarily for, guess we’ll see. And oh yeah Higuruma is finally here, I saw he was getting hyped up so I was excited to see what he’s about, and while I haven’t been completely wowed yet, I really liked his backstory and his first interaction with Yuji, the whole thing where the Japanese justice system screwed over his case and turned him into who he is today was really interesting, he’s like a dark Phoenix Wright lol.

And unfortunately negotiations with Higuruma didn’t work out so we’re gonna see just what he’s capable of in the next one, although it is unfortunate he’s protecting the messed up Culling Game, hopefully he can be convinced otherwise in this fight with Yuji. As for Fushiguro, he got led astray by Remi (I had a feeling she was the liar) and now he’s standing before this Reggie fella who filled us in on what Kenjaku is actually up to with the Culling Game, so I guess it wasn’t a wasted trip at least, but I wonder if they’re gonna throw down or not. As for the one who didn’t lie, Amai, I liked the bit of backstory we got with him and Yuji, that scene of Yuji whooping those bullies’ asses was really well done.
