A true happy ending. There was a scene that should’ve made me cry, but suddenly I didn’t

The ending was sudden (due to the anime only having 6 eps) but it works. Takopii sacrificed himself for Shizuka and Marina to live a better life together, even though they still all have their problems, it doesn't end with one of them dying in the end.

I think they did an amazing job in only 6 episodes regarding how emotional it can get in so many aspects, not to mention the great uncensored animation and OST. I just think that it could have benefited from having more development and a more complex story with this basis, I just believe the original manga got axed, which is a shame. Also sometimes I think it was too much especially Shizuka turning into a kind of psychopath at some point. Otherwise everything is perfect :) I would rate this anime 8.5/10

This was one of the perfect stories of show don't tell style of writing. Although the ending is pretty nice which is like 7.75/10 but overall, I really enjoyed to the fullest from this short 6 episodes.

I don't think this anime is overrated or overhyped whatever at all, a lot of people universally liked this at least which is awesome. The story is literally not for everyone, or it's not supposed to appeal to masses and that's great. This anime depicts how messed up bulllying can be like how I used to be a major victim of bullying when I was still in Elementary School.

8.5/10.

Well that's a rather... disappointing ending. Basically, Takopi just abandoned Shizuka and rewinded time so some part of his memory will bring the kids together... What ? How is that... How is that even supposed to work ?
Besides, there's no way what they've been through can be erased just like that. There's no way Shizuka and Marina can become friends just because some part of them remembers Takopi.
Let's face it, I feel terrible for both of them but there isn't a single timeline where these two should stay together, it's not okay.

It's too bad because the show was mostly great. I especially loved the way it explored abuse and its consequences, even if it was sometimes bordering on misery porn it did a very good job at highlighting the complexity of the situation and remind us of the terrible reality of way too many kids. If anything, I hope this can lead for people to have more empathy and remember children should never pay for their parents' mistakes and pain. These poor kids, all of them, really...

I also really appreciate the ultimate message of actually listening and paying attention to one's needs instead of forcing advices on them when most of the time, all they need is a shoulder to lean on, a sign that they're not alone. Which is why Takopi leaving Shizuka leaves a bad taste in my mouth, she needed him, not Marina, him ! And it wasn't a one-sided relationship, Takopi wanted to be with her, so why was it necessary for him to disappear like that and force a friendship between her and Marina (and kick Azuma out of the picture for some reason) ?
It's such a weird conclusion.

And it also leads me to another problem, which is that at the end of the day, while I can't say Takopi didn't evolve at all, his development was really small compared to how it should have gone. His realization of Marina's situation was a good starting point but they barely did anything with it. It's like he forgot it halfway through while it was so important.

And that's the whole thing : Takopi carries the thematics on his back. If he doesn't question enough the situations or if he takes the wrong decisions yet is rewarded by the show, it is the show itself that is ruining its message. And it kind of did in the end, which pains me to say.

But I still think this show was good for the most part. As I said the topic of child abuse was very well handled, I cared for the characters, the voice acting was amazing, the animation was great as well... It's just that at the end of the day, it followed too much on Takopi's childish mindset while this is the opposite of what it should have done.
So I give it a 7/10, I wish I could've rated it higher but I can't just ignore that ending.

@Lucifrost Right? Both shows ended horribly and yet this show was able to maintain its ratings... why?

"short but sweet" is what i would say if it wasnt so morbid, very good psychological horror show that knows how to give you an intriguing story without wasting your time, altough I really dislike the whole thing with the little boy and the pancakes, i thought it was so pathetic how they portrayed it like he was being abused while the mc is practically homeless with nothing but a dog and a girl who beats her half to death.

The ending was a bit of an asspull, but I'll take it. I wasn't so glad to see happy end in a long time. I just feel bad about Takopi, he didn't deserve to get dragged into all that shit and to have to sacrifice himself.
I'll admit that last scenes finally hit me in the feels. Rest of the show had many strong scenes, but the sacrifice and final goodbye worked the most for me.

It will be hard to enjoy normal weekly anime for a while...

The series started well, but then declined into a pathetic child trauma dump. I guess people rated highly of it simply because they aren't familiar with darker concepts and first time seeing the show impressed them in a way.

TALKING!! It can sometimes make all the difference! I have no words to describe this anime. The amount of emotion that was poured into this and was felt is something I just can't simply put into words. How can an anime capture one's heart in only 6 EPISODES!?! Just watching helped me reflect. This just reminded me how grateful I am to be blessed with a loving family and good people around me, and I feel like sometimes we as people may forget to cherish the basic things we have, forgetting that there are those out there who go through what was shown in this story day-in-day-out.

I personally haven't gone through what went Shizuka and Marina went through, so I can't lie and say I understand, but watching this just allows me to get a detailed picture of what it's like and how it can affect not just themselves, but others as well. Which is why we can NEVER judge people until we hear them out and try to understand them, even if a little. BUT we must also support people, especially kids and teens who go through this, and adults who are still affected by their childhood, and be patient with them, cause accepting and healing from pain takes time.

Takopi's Original Sin is definitely up there as one of my all-time favourites, and I will cherish this anime in my heart. W ANIME!!!

This is one of the best anime I've ever seen.

In the end, Takopii realized that he couldn't do anything to bring a smile to their faces. They needed each other more than anything.

"Because Happiness is born through talking-pi."
What a quote yeah.

Of course the ending was kinda bullshit, but i want to believe it's Takopi magic.

Takopi sacrifice did something.
Takopi successfully made people happy.
Thank you Takopi.

I had the wrong impression that the anime would be any different from the manga but it was a FMAB treatment incredibly faithful adaptation to the manga.

Great execution of bringing this manga to life.
Except that Shizuka's voice is too mature.
Takopi's character kinda steals the show for the most part as a stupid ignorant and uneducated alien learning that harsh truth of the two main heroines in Shizuka and Marina.

Unfortunately I still don't love this story. It remains a 6/10.

Azuma's arc is kind of really boring, even though he serves a purpose in balance rational moral/ethics to murder,
but he's an annoying obstacle to the potential this story could of had without him somehow.

Takopi could arguably be despised in a obnoxious way for some for how stupid and cute he is in such a dark tone of a story.
I personally loved the voice actress and expressions of movement we can see from it in animation though. Its fucking adorable.

Ultimately, I still hate the ending.
Its incredibly messy and too easy with no rewarding progress to how somehow the two heroines become friends (because its most likely stupid in a plausible sense) and Marina never got punished or shown remorse for what she did to Shizuka. That's fucking awful.

They're two great tragic little girls,
but its frustrating how its forced to have the two join together in the end with such an odd lackluster method of magic for being both friends to one thing...
The concept plots of time travel is awesome, but fuck, what a shit ending.

... Off the synopsis I was expecting for Takopi to kill all of Shizuka's bullies with no sense of morality.
In the manga, I can't tell if Shizuka's step sisters were confirmed killed by her or not. In the anime it reveals they were found and didn't die, or were never even hurt maybe. Either side isn't clear. Regardless.

It's a fun dramatic story, but.
Azuma is boring. Takopi's moment of wanting to kill Shizuka after remembering is still jarring,
and the ending of the damn bully becoming friends, with no sign of remorse or guilt is never present. Awful epilogue.

I don't know. I'm not sure how to explain it more. It's difficult to accept this odd interpretation of the Mangaka.
WTF is the point of this theme of forgiveness and becoming friends of an enemy without showing how they forgave each other when mostly the victim was never at fault of anything. The damn bully was the problem, even if the victim Shizuka still wouldn't of had a great life in her household with her slut mom at least.
