| "N-No." Brink says to himself as they run through. |
| "Thought so," Alexi says. "You've got no reason to." They run for a little ways farther, before stopping in front of one home. The roof is caving in at places, the one window in front is broken, and in place of a door hangs a thick red cloth. "This is it. Cyn's home." |
| Brink without words gives a small nod, internally in shock. "Shall we?" |
| Alexi nods, drawing her gun. "Just in case." She makes her way to the doorway and waits, listening. When she hears nothing, she heads inside. The interior of the home reflects the outside: a single mattress lies in one corner, worn out mats cover the dirt floor with a small indent for the heater, and empty bottles and cans lie scatter around the small room. Two doorways branch off, one to the back of the home, the other a storage closet. |
| "Let's check this back room." Brink whispers. |
| Alexi nods, moving by the doorway. She waits, then goes in. The kitchen of the home, counters line the far wall, and a small box made to keep food sits in the corner. A tiny table sits in the middle of the room, being the only furniture there. In the other corner, darkened by shadows, is Cyn. Cyn's sitting on the floor, leaning against the wall. He looks up when they enter. "Oh, you came," his voice is odd. "Cyn..." Alexi lowers her gun. "Are you alright?" She takes a step towards him, but stops when he holds up his hand. "You're hurt, aren't you?" |
