I wasn't really planning to pick this one up after I've seen the PV. But now I've seen some talk about it so I thought I'd give it a try. The fact that Triad subbed it also had an impact on that decision.

Anyway, respect for drawing 15 main characters lol. I like the art and the concept is really interesting. Let's see how this continues.

yeah I also wasn't going to pick it. but after seeing the thread at AnimeSuki I decided to give it a go.

Original Work: Mohiro Kitoh (Narutaru)
Director: Morita Hiroyuki (The Cat Returns, Gunsmith Cats, Kiki's Delivery Service)
Character Designs: Konishi Kenichi (Millenium Actress, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke)
Mechanical Advisor: Suzuki Tsutomu (Zone of the Enders, FLCL, Naruto movies)
Music: Nomi Yuuji (The Cat Returns, Whisper of the Heart, Hi no Tori)
Animation Production: GONZO (Saikano, Kaleido Star, Hellsing, Gankutsuou, Last Exile)
^Interesting staff.

I also liked the art although I wasn't very impressed with those mecha designs... also there seems to be a chibi Ishida (bleach) clone among the main characters. or was it just me ? ^^

anyway, rumor has it the manga is good so.. I'm gonna see how the show's gonna develop

Lol, somehow that made me laugh and think about the mechanical stuff in FLCL, which I just recently finished ^^.

Can't tell about the bleach-like character; what I noticed though is that Hell Girl was present :D.

Takami Komoda is voiced by Mamiko Noto as who also voiced Ai Enma in Jigoku Shoujo, was cool to hear a familiar voice :D.

I am quite intrigued actually. I was worried I'd dislike it, but it seems like one of those start slow/build quickly kind of shows, so I'm willing to give it time to do it's thing.

Random side note: did anyone else immediately think of Ender's Game while reading the summary of this show?

I really liked the first episode.
Nice direction and usage of music. But it looks like the next episodes will be QUALITY, since the art in the first episode already had QUALITY.

It looks alright for the time being but I really hope the battles will be longer than that and more complex (though I'm pretty sure they will be). But I do give them respect for drawing 15 characters uniquely.

Pretty good first episode. The concept is intriguing and the designs are quite simple but still have their own unique flair. On the downside the CG wasn't particularly appealing to me but I do like the direction it looks like this is going to take, as well having such a large cast of primary characters.

Hmmmmmmmmmm, it seems pretty interesting to me too yeah. I didn't really like the fake way the robots looked indeed , but putting that aside the idea behind of it seems pretty cool.

The first time I reed a summary about it, I wasn't like very interested on it.

Then, one day, I was watching TV to see what new shows were on. They were playing Fate/Stay Night and then Samurai 7, I didn't liked'em very much, then they played Bokurano. The opening immediately got my attention, they played episode 20. At first I was a little confused by the plot but I enjoyed then ending theme.
So I went to YT and looked for the first episode, I watched it and felt in love with this marvellous anime *w*

Eventually I watched the whole anime (subbed) on YT, then I downloaded the whole English translated manga (which I totally recomend you to read if you liked the anime) and started to read it and I'm currently re-watching it (dubbed) on TV :)

It simply became one of my most adored anime, I love its characters, their design and profiles, my faves are Mako, Aiko and Takami :)

Interesting first episode. Maybe it is because I know the main "concept" of this story, or maybe it is because I very recently finished watching Narutaru, but this episode was quite creepy in some subtle ways. It starts off with the obvious and yet effective symbolism of the bird eating the worm (used to profound effect in Blue Velvet, as well). There is also the creepy attitude of the child killing the crab (an addition I appreciate: not all children are little angels).

I like the design of the mech. It almost doesn't look like a mech, with its pointed limbs, jet black color scheme, and awkward shape. It seems almost demonic in design. I was less impressed with the design of the spider robot, though. Seemed very generic.
The battle was unique. Those things really do move like gigantic lumbering machines. Given their weight and size, I'm not surprised by the amount of devastation they caused in their fight. Nice to see a giant robot that really does feel giant for once.

Kokopelli wasn't long for this world, apparently. The opening gave me the impression that he was going to be some Machiavellian puppet master, but it looks like he died or something, along with that robot...
His behavior was definitely 'off' when he was lying to those kids. No wonder.
Does he have fourteen other robots or something? How did he know aliens were coming? Why draft random children? Why was he living in a cave.

I'm not sure I liked those white noise transitions. Very odd.

4/5.

I beat Boba_Fett to this one, in his face.

Anyways, already I love the concept. Nothing like tons of group drama between 7th graders. Reminds me of Black Rock Shooter mixed with Kokoro Connect mixed with Sword Art Online.

Oh wow what a great start of this series and what an awesome concept! I really like it already and I'm not really a huge fan of mecha anime at all, but this concept seems to have a lot of potential so let's see what happens next!

Aside from that, creepy and cool opening episode. I used to have a phobia of fuzzy TV screens, so those white noise moments were really quite creepy xDD

Liking this so far, but I wonder what the "I'm sorry" was about? Are they going to disappear one by one along with the enemy since there are 15 enemies and 15 players?

After a long time, I finally started watching this anime, and I have to say: wow.
As the characters themselves said, they are just kids that think they're finally making part of society that could do anything. I think the OP song just perfectly describes the situation they were put in.

When Kokopelli said they'd be heroes and save the Earth, even though some hesitated a bit, everyone jumped on the chance to play. Ushiro didn't let Kana-chan include herself, though; maybe he was thinking about her safety? Or is it just hatred for her?
There's also the common super-hero without recognisement too. Like Komoda said, ''all for one'' - everyone working for society's sake.

About the game, where did those enemies suddenly come from? Kokopelli wasn't really clear about anything at all. Why is Earth suddenly being attacked? Why now? Why 15 enemies and heros? Why those kids?

As for the mechas, I liked that they weren't agile or fast in any way - which is just reasonable, given the size of those machines. It's literally a battle between giants, and it felt reasonable for them to be that way.

Finally, Kokopelli is my last object of doubts. Where did he come from, how did he knew all that, why not tell the kids? What was he going to say, rather, why ''I'm sorry''? I thought for an instant that maybe he was being manipulated for, let's say, an entity bigger than what is knwon by the people. The enemy also doesn't appear to be human, but pure machine. Sounds easier to lure children to slay them if it's something foreign.
I guess it's obvious I'm really excited with this anime. I also think Kana-chan's gonna be a key piece to everything. The ED song was made for her.

I think the character design is pretty nice. I like the more realistic approach, it is a nice contrast to how unrealistic the work seems to be.

Nways, off to a good start. I like the cast so far.

Alright first episode. I could live without the CG, but I doubt it will effect in anyway of me watching the show.

I hope the mech battles aren't so slow throughout the show, but I just looked at it as a tutorial on how everything works.

Some character design is odd, but at least they don't suffer same face syndrome and the style looks nice.

What a creepy first episode, but simultaneously very interesting. That guy, to give an analogy, felt like some sly pedophile, tricking children into doing something horrible through the pretext of it being a "game."

I see many familiar elements that give me a vague idea of how this could potenially play out.

First impressions: It low-key seemed like as if

-Digimon(bunch of kids during summer camp/ summer school)
-Gantz (people participating in a "game" that will turn out deadly; they may actually fight other humans/or aliens without hostile intenions)
- Narutaru (art style is unmistakable and it gives me similar vibes; the mangaka likes it dark with his teens)

were thrown into a blender.

Add giant mecha piloted by child soldiers and slap on the psychological tag(Eva) for good measure.

We had some at first glance basic characterisation in form of dialogue, interactions and lack of said two. There's the sociable ex soccer player, glasses-kun, the guy who looks like he was held back 3 times, energetic tomboy, the pervert and his insecure partner who's probably worse than him, the anti social guy, the edgy guy( with a flame shirt lol), you get the gist. Characters seem to be stereotypes based on design and how they gave themeselves, but there should be more than meets the eye. Let's see which ones will survive long enough to become 3 or 4 dimensional. I expect at least some sort of nuance or unique twist for everyone or this series subverts expectations altogher when it's time to explore the teenage characters in depth. It will take a few episodes before I can remember all these standard names on top of these generic faces, so I wouldn't mind some decimation xD

Intriguing start overall. Not so striking faces aside, I like the aesthetic, the color palette and the omnious atmosphere.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron
