anyone know if their is either a fansub available (and where i can find it) or the release date of a US or UK dvd. I'm a huge fan of Shinichiro Watanabe and as this features the first new work from him since Samurai Champloo i'm desperate to see it.
Thanks in advance.

Since this movie collection has still to be released on DVD, it doesn't even have a release date as of yet - they will probably release it complete after the second anthology has been screened, it's unlikely that you would find a release of it. The chance of somebody to release a screener is pretty much zero after the new law has been passed.

There is also no info as to whether it actually gets a screening at theaters outside of Japan.

As of now there is only one special screening:
http://www.kennedy-center.org/calendar/index.cfm?fuseaction=showevent&event=XIJFN

It features the complete anthology, the second one is a world premiere since it hasn't seen a screening so far in Japan. And there are still tickets left according to their site.

As for the collection itself, really looking forward to see the short films by Nakazawa Kazuto (his Comedy is one of my favourite short films and he's been also on Iso's RahX 15), Yuasa Masaaki (Mind Game and Kemonozume have been two of the most original and stunning works in the last few years setting a high bar of expectations), Morimoto Koji (if anybody is a genius, he surely is), Ohira Shinya (if his exceptional animation style is to be taken as a hint on his abilities as director, it can only end up just as exceptional) and Kawamori Shoji (his carefree and non-standard approach to animation is something that more directors should show). Less expectations for a few of the others, nonetheless this is probably the most exciting project this year (granted that it'll get a DVD release still this year).

According to the French news site Catsuka Genius Party will be released on July 2nd 2008.

source:http://www.catsuka.com/news_detail.php?id=1206914110

The DVD will not include English subtitles and the winners of the Genius Party contest "Next Genius" where animation rookies could participate and have their work viewed by pros will not be included as well.
