| i found this anime and i thought it looks like a good one to watch, but i just realised that it has two season before this. do i have to watch the first to seasons to understand the third? or is it okay to watch on its own? if its a continuous theme and events i'm willing to watch all of them, it's just this one caught my attention before i found about the previous ones. please advise me of what you think is best. thanks |
| It's mostly episodic, though with a small degree of continuity. If you jump straight into season 3 first, you'll mostly just be missing character introductions. The prior stuff isn't critical, but it may enhance things a bit as the series does expect you to have some background knowledge. Ideally of course, I would recommend the entire first series to start with. After that, you can watch anything else in the franchise in any order, with no trouble. All the necessary plot and character information needed is in the first season, and all subsequent episodes and specials build only off of that. If you want to cut back on that, up through episode 20 of season 1 will leave only 1 important character left out (Tokairin), and IIRC, he has little or no mention in Full Throttle, though he is of importance in season 2. Up through episode 8 will cover all of the regular cast, leaving out only several minor characters and some minor character developments. Note that the 4 episode OVA is also considered episodes 1-4 of the TV series. |
