What are your favorite genres of piano music? Do you enjoy listening to a certain kind more than playing it? Share you thoughts (>w<)b

I used to hate pretty much every classical piece...but once I started learning more about music (especially music theory) I began to like classical pieces more and more ^^

But mostly I think it's because I never really listened to a large variety of classical music. Pretty much all I knew when I was younger was Beethoven/Mozart. I think my favorite classical composer is Brahms ^^

I like jazz a lot too, but unfortunately, I'm not very good at playing it D:

I love playing/listening to anime music! There's so many great songs out there :D

Video game music is fun too! Hehe, I guess I enjoy playing pretty much anything ^^"

Funny thing about me is, I started playing the classics, but simple ones. But now I pretty much don't play it, not because I hate it, because more like I have other things to learn, like anime music. I love listening to classical, or instrumental music in general.

My favorite anime pieces are Hoshizora no Waltz, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, Tori no Uta, Houki Boshi, and Ashitaka & San.

Yay Tori no Uta and Houki Boshi :D
Ashitaka & San sounds very familiar...but I'm not sure when/where I heard it...oh shoot. Princess Mononoke. I just remembered. I told someone I'd post that up on youtube...uh oh. lol

I'm gonna go listen to Hoshizora no Waltz and Kimi ga Nozomu Eien >=]

I like Hoshizora no Waltz because this particular transcription is different from Josh's usual transcriptions. Most of the time, he arranges the bass line to incorporation all of the instruments in the song, but this time, he had fun with both left and right hands and gave the piece his own touch. It's almost like a true improvisation.

And yeah, Ashitaka & San sounds just excellent on the piano.

i like classical pieces the best (especially "tristesse" and "black keys") i think they have more feeling into songs. dont get me wrong i like other genres too but i get too much of that romancey sad type. wheres the anger? some composers get frustrated too haha
but i do like anime and drama music too. but i think secondly after "tristesse" i love "rydia" - final fantasy iv. try play it! it sounds so nice :) oh and "flying petals" - lee ji soo. its from the drama spring waltz and its for two people on one piano;; so upbeat! here you can download it too.

Classical, without a doubt! Chopin -who is my favourite composer-'s compositions are so wonderfully emotional and move me like nothing else from this world. The moment I finish learning a Chopin piece on the piano I just want to learn another one, but I am trying to achieve a somewhat diverse repertoir. XD
Other than him I listen to many other classical composers!

I also like blues very much, although I am quite inexperienced in that particular field. To my own regret. ):

I like almost EVERY genre!! except for Reggaeton and extremely cheesy pop stuff (aka Justin Beiber -.-)
For guitar i love blues, rock and jazz! and one of the genre i actually prefer to hear than play will be metal.
For piano i aspire to play Jazz (Hiromi Uehara is my current fav pianist and her music is AWESOME!) and Classic music, after watching Nodame Cantabile i just noticed that classic side that was hidden within me for a long time and decided that i was going to learn piano ^^ my fav composer is Frederic Chopin.

This, i also love Chopin!!! my fav classic composer, his compositions just leave me breathless.
I hope someday (i know it will take a long time from now) i will be able to play some of his wonderful compositions.
Blues is also one of my fav genre's and i love playing blues on my guitar (actually Imma pretty good blues player despite my name lol)

I love classical music. I grew up listening to it and playing it, so I find it very soothing. I also enjoy listening to jazz and blues, but I don't really play either.

I'm not sure how I would define my own style of playing, but I would say that it is influenced by classical music. When I took lessons years ago, most of what I played was classical - however, if I'm playing something other than improv or my own music, it is usually from an anime, film, or television soundtrack.
