I got a few suggestions regarding the rules of battle and I believe this would be the thread to post it in...

1. No Legends

Short version: This should say "No Übers".

Long: There's a difference in Übers and Legends. Some legends are way too powerful and would be able to rip almost any standard team to shreds. Those are classed as übers and are not allowed in the Standard environment. But then we have the other legends who are not that powerful, like Azelf, Moltres, Suicune and their friends.

As an example, if we take a look at Celebi and Mew. They're both legends and have 100 base stats across the board. But Celebi have a horrible typing and a pretty predictable move pool, while Mew have access to all TMs and a few great moves on it's own.

Full list of übers:

Mewtwo
Mew
Ho-oh
Lugia
Latias
Latios
Kyogre
Groudon
Rayquaza
Deoxys (all forms)
Dialga
Palkia
Giratina
Darkrai
Arceus
Manaphy
Wobbuffet

2. You can only have one item of each type on a pokemon.

To be honest, I don't like this one. Leftovers and such items are often used on more than one pokémon. And having two or more choice banders is pretty stupid unless you have a really good reason.
So I find this rule kind of useless...

And as for suggesting new rules; Evasion Clause, Hax Item Clause, Sleep Clause.

Evasion Clause is a given, I think we all know how annoying and boring all those pokémon with Double Team are. Evasion Clause simply bans moves such as Double Team and Sand-attack.

Hax Item Clause could be considered too. It bans the use of items that depends on luck, such as Brightpowder and Quick Claw.

Sleep Clause. You may only put one of your opponent's pokémon to sleep at a time.

I think thats a good idea about only some of the legends can be used. I want to use my Suicune cause I barely have any good pokemon.

I'd like to argue that Wobbuffet isn't an uber. Wob sucks ass cause a dark pokemon can pwn his ass easily.

And besides, in general, does anyone even know anyone at all who even USES wobbuffet?
.....No, I thought not.

And I'd also like to add, that, I've been playing this game for who knows how long, that aside from the current gen legendaries, I can pretty much logically pwn the previous generation legendaries. So by that definition, they're not really that elite. =\

But that's just my opinion.

Wobbuffet always wins. He's the number one revenge killer. His ability traps the enemy pokemon, if it's against a choicer you won. The only way he can lose is if you're up against a very lucky mixed sweeper.

But the fact is that their stats and move pools are way too unbalanced for the standard environment. Mew can be both an excellent physical and special sweeper, heck, he can even be both at the same time.

Yes, they're not invincible, but a standard team needs a lot of luck to be able to beat a team full of übers.

Wobbuffet never wins. Sure he can deal revenge, but what happens when he dies in one hit? >_>

I thought so. XD

Name one pokémon who can one-hit Wobbuffet without criticals and max attack. Oh, and let's not forget about Focus Sash.

And his ability traps the enemy pokémon even after Wobbuffet switches out. So there you'll hopefully get another free kill.

Late edit: Seems like they don't remain trapped after he switches out... Serebii was wrong :x

That's the whole point. I don't USE Wob. I don't know anyone who DOES. That's why I don't understand why he's there in the first place. Hence why it was brought up? >_>

He's there cause of his moveset, Encore + Counter/Mirror Coat, and his ability Shadow Tag. Baton Pass and similar moves are the only ways to escape.

His huge HP stat combined with that moveset is a good reason too.

Salamence has been Uber since this July, so Salamence should be added in Uber list as well.
